Isaiah 13

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Proclamation about Babylon, seen by Isaiah son of Amoz.	1 Oráculo contra Babilônia, revelado a Isaías, filho de Amós.
2 On a bare hill hoist a signal, shout for them, beckon them to come to the Nobles' Gate.	2 Levantai o estandarte sobre a colina escalvada, elevai a voz contra eles. Fazei-lhes sinal com as mãos, para que transponham as portas dos nobres.
3 I have issued orders to my sacred warriors, I have summoned my heroes to serve my anger, my proudchampions.	3 Em minha cólera requisitei minhas tropas sagradas, e chamei os meus bravos e meus altivos triunfadores.
4 The noise of a great crowd in the mountains, like an immense people, the tumultuous sound ofkingdoms, of nations mustering: it is Yahweh Sabaoth marshal ing the troops for battle.	4 Escutai esse ruído sobre os montes como vozerio de grande multidão; escutai o tumulto dos reinos e das nações reunidas. É o Senhor dos exércitos que passa em revista suas tropas para a batalha.
5 They come from a distant country, from the far horizons, Yahweh and the instruments of his fury to laythe whole country waste.	5 Chegam de uma terra longínqua, da extremidade dos céus, o Senhor e os instrumentos de seu furor, para devastar toda a terra.
6 Howl! For the Day of Yahweh is near, coming like devastation from Shaddai.	6 Lamentai-vos, porque o dia do Senhor está próximo como uma devastação provocada pelo Todo-poderoso.
7 This is why al hands fal limp, why al the men are losing heart;	7 Por causa disso deixam cair os braços; todos perdem a coragem;
8 they are panic-stricken, seized with pains and convulsions; they writhe like a woman in labour, theylook at one another appal ed, with feverish faces.	8 ficam cheios de terror... Tomados de convulsões e dores, eles se retorcem como uma mulher em parto. Olham uns para os outros e têm o rosto em fogo.
9 Look, the Day of Yahweh is coming, merciless, with wrath and burning anger, to reduce the country toa desert and root out the sinners from it.	9 Eis que virá o dia do Senhor, dia implacável, de furor e de cólera ardente, para reduzir a terra a um deserto, e dela exterminar os pecadores.
10 For in the sky the stars and Orion wil shed their light no longer, the sun wil be dark when it rises, andthe moon will no longer give its light.	10 Nem as estrelas do céu, nem suas constelações brilhantes, farão resplandecer sua luz; o sol se obscurecerá desde o nascer, e a lua já não enviará sua luz.
11 I am going to punish the world for its wickedness and the wicked for their guilt, and put an end to thepride of the arrogant and humble the haughtiness of despots.	11 Punirei o mundo por seus crimes, e os pecadores por suas maldades. Abaterei o orgulho dos arrogantes e humilharei a pretensão dos tiranos.
12 I shal make people scarcer than pure gold, human life scarcer than the gold of Ophir.	12 Tornarei os homens mais raros que o ouro fino, e os mortais mais raros que o metal de Ofir.
13 This is why I am going to shake the heavens, why the earth wil reel on its foundations, under thewrath of Yahweh Sabaoth, the day when his anger ignites.	13 Farei oscilar os céus, e a terra abalada será sacudida pela ira do Senhor Deus dos exércitos, no dia do seu furor ardente.
14 Then like a hunted gazel e, like sheep that nobody gathers in, everyone will head back to his people,everyone wil flee to his native land.	14 Então, como uma gazela assustada, como um rebanho que ninguém recolhe, cada um voltará para seu povo, e fugirá para sua terra.
15 Al those who are found wil be stabbed, al those captured wil fal by the sword,	15 Todos aqueles que forem encontrados serão mortos; os que forem apanhados serão passados à espada.
16 their babies dashed to pieces before their eyes, their houses plundered, their wives raped.	16 Seus filhinhos serão massacrados diante de seus olhos, suas casas serão saqueadas, e suas mulheres, violadas.
17 Look, against them I am stirring up the Medes who care nothing for silver, who set no value by gold.	17 Suscitarei contra eles os medos, que não se interessam pela prata, nem apreciam o ouro.
18 Bows wil annihilate the young men, they wil have no pity for the fruit of the womb, or mercy in theireyes for children.	18 Seus arcos abaterão os jovens; não terão compaixão pelos frutos das entranhas, nem piedade das crianças.
19 And Babylon, that pearl of kingdoms, that splendid jewel of the Chaldaeans, wil , like Sodom andGomorrah, be overthrown by God.	19 Então Babilônia, a pérola dos reinos, a jóia de que os caldeus tanto se orgulham, será destruída por Deus, como Sodoma e Gomorra.
20 Never again will anyone live there or reside there for al generations to come. Never again wil theArab pitch his tent there, or the shepherds bring their flocks to rest.	20 Nunca mais será habitada, nem povoada até o fim dos tempos. O árabe não mais erguerá aí sua tenda, os pastores não amalharão aí seus rebanhos,
21 But beasts of the desert wil make their haunt there and owls fill their houses, there ostriches wil settletheir home, there goats will dance.	21 as feras terão aí seu covil, os mochos freqüentarão as casas, as avestruzes morarão aí, e os sátiros farão aí suas danças.
22 Hyenas wil howl in its towers, jackals in its delightful palaces, for its doom is about to come and itsdays wil not last long.	22 Os chacais uivarão nos seus palácios, e os lobos, nas suas casas de prazer. Sua hora está próxima e seus dias estão contados.
