1 Proclamation about Babylon, seen by Isaiah son of Amoz.	1 Pesante annunzio sopra Babilonia, veduto da Isaia figliuolo di Amos.
2 On a bare hill hoist a signal, shout for them, beckon them to come to the Nobles' Gate.	2 Sopra un monte caliginoso piantate lo stendardo, alzate la voce, stendete la mano, ed entrino i condottieri nelle porte.
3 I have issued orders to my sacred warriors, I have summoned my heroes to serve my anger, my proudchampions.	3 Io ho fatto comandamento a coloro, che son preparati da me, ho chiamati nell'ira mia i miei campioni festeggianti per la mia gloria.
4 The noise of a great crowd in the mountains, like an immense people, the tumultuous sound ofkingdoms, of nations mustering: it is Yahweh Sabaoth marshal ing the troops for battle.	4 Strepito di gran gente sulle montagne, quasi di popolo numeroso, voci miste di principi, e di genti adunate. Il Signor degli eserciti ha fatto comandamento alle guerriere milizie,
5 They come from a distant country, from the far horizons, Yahweh and the instruments of his fury to laythe whole country waste.	5 Le quali vengono da rimoti paesi, dagli ultimi confini del mondo. Il Signore, e gli strumenti dell'ira sua viene a disertare tutta la terra.
6 Howl! For the Day of Yahweh is near, coming like devastation from Shaddai.	6 Alzate le urla; perocché il giorno del Signore è vicino: verrà lo sterminio quale sa mandarlo il Signore.
7 This is why al hands fal limp, why al the men are losing heart;	7 Per questo tutte le braccia diventeranno languide, e tutti i cuori degli uomini verranno meno,
8 they are panic-stricken, seized with pains and convulsions; they writhe like a woman in labour, theylook at one another appal ed, with feverish faces.	8 E saranno spezzati. Saran presi da tormini, e da dolori; saranno indoglie come una partoriente: ognuno guarderà stupido in faccia il suo vicino; i loro volti, quasi facce abbronzite.
9 Look, the Day of Yahweh is coming, merciless, with wrath and burning anger, to reduce the country toa desert and root out the sinners from it.	9 Ecco, che verrà il dì del Signore, giorno fiero, e pieno d'indignazione, e d'ira, e di furore, per ridurre in un deserto la terra, e da essa dispergere i peccatori.
10 For in the sky the stars and Orion wil shed their light no longer, the sun wil be dark when it rises, andthe moon will no longer give its light.	10 Perocché le stelle del cielo splendidissime non daranno il solito lume: il sole si è oscurato alla sua levata; e la luna non isplenderà della sua luce.
11 I am going to punish the world for its wickedness and the wicked for their guilt, and put an end to thepride of the arrogant and humble the haughtiness of despots.	11 E punirò la malvagità della terra, e gli empj per la loro iniquità; e farò tacer la superbia degl'infedeli, e umilierò l'arroganza de' forti.
12 I shal make people scarcer than pure gold, human life scarcer than the gold of Ophir.	12 L'uomo sarà più prezioso, che l'oro, e pia dell'oro finissimo.
13 This is why I am going to shake the heavens, why the earth wil reel on its foundations, under thewrath of Yahweh Sabaoth, the day when his anger ignites.	13 Io sconvolgerò ancora il cielo; e sarà smossa dal suo sito la terra, per chè il Signor degli eserciti è sdegnato, e perchè è il giorno dell'ira, e del furore di lui.
14 Then like a hunted gazel e, like sheep that nobody gathers in, everyone will head back to his people,everyone wil flee to his native land.	14 Ed ei saranno quai cervette fuggiasche, e come pecore, che non hanno chi le raduni: ciascuno si volgerà verso il suo popolo, ognuno si fuggirà al proprio paese.
15 Al those who are found wil be stabbed, al those captured wil fal by the sword,	15 Quanti si troveranno (nella città) saranno uccisi; e quanti verranno in aiuto, periranno di spada.
16 their babies dashed to pieces before their eyes, their houses plundered, their wives raped.	16 I loro fanciulli saranno infranti sotto de' loro occhi, saccheggiate le loro case, e disonorate le loro mogli.
17 Look, against them I am stirring up the Medes who care nothing for silver, who set no value by gold.	17 Ecco, che io susciterò contro di loro i Medi, i quali non cercano argento, né vogliono oro;
18 Bows wil annihilate the young men, they wil have no pity for the fruit of the womb, or mercy in theireyes for children.	18 Ma uccideranno colle saette i pargoletti, e non avran compassione delle donne, che allattano, né la perdoneranno a' loro bambini.
19 And Babylon, that pearl of kingdoms, that splendid jewel of the Chaldaeans, wil , like Sodom andGomorrah, be overthrown by God.	19 E quella Babilonia gloriosa tra i regni, di cui andavan superbi i Caldei, sarà come Sodoma, e Gomorra distrutte dal Signore.
20 Never again will anyone live there or reside there for al generations to come. Never again wil theArab pitch his tent there, or the shepherds bring their flocks to rest.	20 Non sarà mai più abitata, e non sarà riedificata di generazione in generazione: né l'Arabo vi alzerà le sue tende, né i pastori anderanno a riposarvi.
21 But beasts of the desert wil make their haunt there and owls fill their houses, there ostriches wil settletheir home, there goats will dance.	21 Ma vi riposeranno le fiere, e le loro case saran piene di dragoni: e vi abiteranno gli struzzoli, e i satiri vi balleranno:
22 Hyenas wil howl in its towers, jackals in its delightful palaces, for its doom is about to come and itsdays wil not last long.	22 E canteranno alternativamente nei loro palazzi i barbagianni, e le sirene nei templi del piacere.
