Isaiah 13

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Proclamation about Babylon, seen by Isaiah son of Amoz.	1 Oracolo su Babilonia ricevuto da Isaia, figlio di Amoz.
2 On a bare hill hoist a signal, shout for them, beckon them to come to the Nobles' Gate.	2 "Su un monte brullo issate uno stendardo, alzate la voce verso di loro, agitate la mano, perché entrino per le porte dei nobili.
3 I have issued orders to my sacred warriors, I have summoned my heroes to serve my anger, my proudchampions.	3 Io ho emesso un ordine a quelli che sono a me consacrati, ho chiamato per il mio sdegno i miei prodi, fieri della mia grandezza".
4 The noise of a great crowd in the mountains, like an immense people, the tumultuous sound ofkingdoms, of nations mustering: it is Yahweh Sabaoth marshal ing the troops for battle.	4 Grida di moltitudine sulle montagne, simile a quello di un'immensa folla! Grida tumultuose dei regni, delle nazioni radunate! Il Signore degli eserciti passa in rivista l'esercito di guerra.
5 They come from a distant country, from the far horizons, Yahweh and the instruments of his fury to laythe whole country waste.	5 Vengono da un paese lontano, dai confini dei cieli, il Signore e gli strumenti della sua collera per distruggere tutto il paese.
6 Howl! For the Day of Yahweh is near, coming like devastation from Shaddai.	6 Urlate, perché è vicino il giorno del Signore, esso viene come una devastazione voluta dall'Onnipotente.
7 This is why al hands fal limp, why al the men are losing heart;	7 Perciò tutte le mani s'infiacchiscono, e ogni cuore umano si strugge.
8 they are panic-stricken, seized with pains and convulsions; they writhe like a woman in labour, theylook at one another appal ed, with feverish faces.	8 Sono conturbati, spasimi e dolori li colgono, si contorcono come una partoriente, si guardano l'un l'altro stupiti, i loro volti sono volti di fiamma.
9 Look, the Day of Yahweh is coming, merciless, with wrath and burning anger, to reduce the country toa desert and root out the sinners from it.	9 Ecco il giorno del Signore arriva, crudele, l'indignazione e lo sdegno di collera, per fare della terra un deserto e sterminare da essa i peccatori.
10 For in the sky the stars and Orion wil shed their light no longer, the sun wil be dark when it rises, andthe moon will no longer give its light.	10 Infatti le stelle del cielo e le loro costellazioni non fanno brillare la loro luce, il sole si oscurerà al suo sorgere, e la luna non diffonderà la sua luce.
11 I am going to punish the world for its wickedness and the wicked for their guilt, and put an end to thepride of the arrogant and humble the haughtiness of despots.	11 Punirò il male sulla terra e i malvagi per la loro iniquità, metterò fine all'orgoglio dei presuntuosi e umilierò l'alterigia dei tiranni.
12 I shal make people scarcer than pure gold, human life scarcer than the gold of Ophir.	12 Renderò l'uomo più raro dell'oro e il mortale più raro dell'oro di Ofir.
13 This is why I am going to shake the heavens, why the earth wil reel on its foundations, under thewrath of Yahweh Sabaoth, the day when his anger ignites.	13 Perciò scuoterò i cieli e la terra traballerà dal suo posto, a causa dell'indignazione del Signore degli eserciti nel giorno del furore della sua collera.
14 Then like a hunted gazel e, like sheep that nobody gathers in, everyone will head back to his people,everyone wil flee to his native land.	14 Allora, come una gazzella messa in fuga e come pecore che nessuno raduna, ognuno si dirigerà verso il suo popolo, ognuno fuggirà verso il suo paese.
15 Al those who are found wil be stabbed, al those captured wil fal by the sword,	15 Chiunque sarà incontrato, sarà trafitto, e chiunque sarà sorpreso, cadrà di spada.
16 their babies dashed to pieces before their eyes, their houses plundered, their wives raped.	16 I loro piccoli saranno schiacciati davanti ai loro occhi, le loro case saranno saccheggiate e le loro mogli violate.
17 Look, against them I am stirring up the Medes who care nothing for silver, who set no value by gold.	17 Ecco che io suscito contro di essi i Medi, che non pensano all'argento né si curano dell'oro.
18 Bows wil annihilate the young men, they wil have no pity for the fruit of the womb, or mercy in theireyes for children.	18 Con gli archi atterreranno i giovani; non avranno pietà del frutto del ventre; i loro occhi non si impietosiranno dei bambini.
19 And Babylon, that pearl of kingdoms, that splendid jewel of the Chaldaeans, wil , like Sodom andGomorrah, be overthrown by God.	19 Babilonia, lo splendore dei regni, l'onore orgoglioso dei Caldei, sarà sconvolta da Dio, come Sodoma e Gomorra.
20 Never again will anyone live there or reside there for al generations to come. Never again wil theArab pitch his tent there, or the shepherds bring their flocks to rest.	20 Non sarà più abitata né popolata di generazione in generazione; l'arabo non vi pianterà la tenda, né i pastori vi porranno gli stazzi.
21 But beasts of the desert wil make their haunt there and owls fill their houses, there ostriches wil settletheir home, there goats will dance.	21 Vi si stabiliranno le fiere del deserto, i gufi riempiranno le loro case, vi dimoreranno gli struzzi, vi danzeranno i satiri.
22 Hyenas wil howl in its towers, jackals in its delightful palaces, for its doom is about to come and itsdays wil not last long.	22 Le iene urleranno nei suoi palazzi e gli sciacalli nei lussuosi edifici. La sua ora si avvicina, i suoi giorni non saranno prolungati.
