Isaiah 13

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 Proclamation about Babylon, seen by Isaiah son of Amoz.	1 Oracolo su Babilonia, ricevuto in visione da Isaia, figlio di Amoz.
2 On a bare hill hoist a signal, shout for them, beckon them to come to the Nobles' Gate.	2 Su un monte brullo issate un segnale, alzate per loro un grido; fate cenni con la mano perché varchino le porte dei nobili.
3 I have issued orders to my sacred warriors, I have summoned my heroes to serve my anger, my proudchampions.	3 Io ho dato un ordine ai miei consacrati; ho chiamato anche i miei prodi a strumento del mio sdegno, entusiasti della mia grandezza.
4 The noise of a great crowd in the mountains, like an immense people, the tumultuous sound ofkingdoms, of nations mustering: it is Yahweh Sabaoth marshal ing the troops for battle.	4 Frastuono di folla sui monti, simile a quello di un popolo immenso. Frastuono fragoroso di regni, di nazioni radunate. Il Signore degli eserciti passa in rassegna un esercito di guerra.
5 They come from a distant country, from the far horizons, Yahweh and the instruments of his fury to laythe whole country waste.	5 Vengono da una terra lontana, dall’estremo orizzonte, il Signore e le armi della sua collera, per devastare tutta la terra.
6 Howl! For the Day of Yahweh is near, coming like devastation from Shaddai.	6 Urlate, perché è vicino il giorno del Signore; esso viene come una devastazione da parte dell’Onnipotente.
7 This is why al hands fal limp, why al the men are losing heart;	7 Perciò tutte le mani sono fiacche, ogni cuore d’uomo viene meno.
8 they are panic-stricken, seized with pains and convulsions; they writhe like a woman in labour, theylook at one another appal ed, with feverish faces.	8 Sono costernati. Spasimi e dolori li prendono, si contorcono come una partoriente. Ognuno osserva sgomento il suo vicino: i loro volti sono volti di fiamma.
9 Look, the Day of Yahweh is coming, merciless, with wrath and burning anger, to reduce the country toa desert and root out the sinners from it.	9 Ecco, il giorno del Signore arriva implacabile, con sdegno, ira e furore, per fare della terra un deserto, per sterminarne i peccatori.
10 For in the sky the stars and Orion wil shed their light no longer, the sun wil be dark when it rises, andthe moon will no longer give its light.	10 Poiché le stelle del cielo e le loro costellazioni non daranno più la loro luce; il sole si oscurerà al suo sorgere e la luna non diffonderà la sua luce.
11 I am going to punish the world for its wickedness and the wicked for their guilt, and put an end to thepride of the arrogant and humble the haughtiness of despots.	11 Io punirò nel mondo la malvagità e negli empi la loro iniquità. Farò cessare la superbia dei protervi e umilierò l’orgoglio dei tiranni.
12 I shal make people scarcer than pure gold, human life scarcer than the gold of Ophir.	12 Renderò l’uomo più raro dell’oro fino e i mortali più rari dell’oro di Ofir.
13 This is why I am going to shake the heavens, why the earth wil reel on its foundations, under thewrath of Yahweh Sabaoth, the day when his anger ignites.	13 Allora farò tremare i cieli e la terra si scuoterà dalle fondamenta per lo sdegno del Signore degli eserciti, nel giorno della sua ira ardente.
14 Then like a hunted gazel e, like sheep that nobody gathers in, everyone will head back to his people,everyone wil flee to his native land.	14 Allora avverrà come a una gazzella impaurita e come a un gregge che nessuno raduna: ognuno si dirigerà verso il suo popolo, ognuno correrà verso la sua terra.
15 Al those who are found wil be stabbed, al those captured wil fal by the sword,	15 Quanti saranno trovati, saranno trafitti, quanti saranno presi, periranno di spada.
16 their babies dashed to pieces before their eyes, their houses plundered, their wives raped.	16 I loro piccoli saranno sfracellati davanti ai loro occhi; saranno saccheggiate le loro case, violentate le loro mogli.
17 Look, against them I am stirring up the Medes who care nothing for silver, who set no value by gold.	17 Ecco, io suscito contro di loro i Medi, che non pensano all’argento né si curano dell’oro.
18 Bows wil annihilate the young men, they wil have no pity for the fruit of the womb, or mercy in theireyes for children.	18 Con i loro archi abbatteranno i giovani, non avranno pietà del frutto del ventre, i loro occhi non avranno pietà dei bambini.
19 And Babylon, that pearl of kingdoms, that splendid jewel of the Chaldaeans, wil , like Sodom andGomorrah, be overthrown by God.	19 Babilonia, perla dei regni, splendore orgoglioso dei Caldei, sarà sconvolta da Dio come Sòdoma e Gomorra.
20 Never again will anyone live there or reside there for al generations to come. Never again wil theArab pitch his tent there, or the shepherds bring their flocks to rest.	20 Non sarà abitata mai più né popolata di generazione in generazione. L’Arabo non vi pianterà la sua tenda né i pastori vi faranno sostare le greggi.
21 But beasts of the desert wil make their haunt there and owls fill their houses, there ostriches wil settletheir home, there goats will dance.	21 Ma vi si stabiliranno le bestie selvatiche, i gufi riempiranno le loro case, vi faranno dimora gli struzzi, vi danzeranno i sàtiri.
22 Hyenas wil howl in its towers, jackals in its delightful palaces, for its doom is about to come and itsdays wil not last long.	22 Urleranno le iene nei loro palazzi, gli sciacalli nei loro edifici lussuosi. La sua ora si avvicina, i suoi giorni non saranno prolungati.
