Isaiah 1

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 The vision of Isaiah son of Amoz concerning Judah and Jerusalem, which he received in the reigns ofUzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah kings of Judah.	1 Visione che Isaia, figlio di Amoz, ebbe su Giuda e Gerusalemme al tempo di Ozia, Iotam, Acaz ed Ezechia, re di Giuda.
2 Listen, you heavens; earth, attend, for Yahweh is speaking, 'I have reared children and brought them up,but they have rebel ed against me.	2 Udite, cieli, ascolta, terra, poiché parla il Signore: "Ho cresciuto dei figli, li ho esaltati, ed essi si sono ribellati contro di me.
3 The ox knows its owner and the donkey its master's crib; Israel does not know, my people do notunderstand.'	3 Il bue riconosce il suo proprietario, e l'asino la mangiatoia del suo padrone, ma Israele non conosce e il mio popolo non comprende".
4 Disaster, sinful nation, people weighed down with guilt, race of wrong-doers, perverted children! Theyhave abandoned Yahweh, despised the Holy One of Israel, they have turned away from him.	4 Guai alla nazione peccatrice, al popolo carico di iniquità, alla razza di malfattori, ai figli corrotti! Hanno abbandonato il Signore, hanno disprezzato il Santo d'Israele, si sono voltati indietro.
5 Where shal I strike you next, if you persist in treason? The whole head is sick, the whole heart isdiseased,	5 Dove volete ancora essere colpiti, voi che accumulate ribellioni? Tutta la testa è inferma, tutto il cuore languisce.
6 from the sole of the foot to the head there is nothing healthy: only wounds, bruises and open sores notdressed, not bandaged, not soothed with ointment,	6 Dalla pianta del piede fino al capo, niente vi è d'intatto; ferite, lividure e piaghe aperte non sono state pulite né fasciate né lenite con olio.
7 your country a desolation, your towns burnt down, your soil, foreigners lay it waste before your eyes, adesolation like devastation by foreigners.	7 Il vostro paese è desolato, le vostre città bruciate dal fuoco, il vostro suolo, gli stranieri lo divorano in vostra presenza; la desolazione è come una catastrofe prodotta da stranieri.
8 The daughter of Zion is left like a shanty in a vineyard, like a shed in a cucumber field, like a citybesieged.	8 La figlia di Sion è rimasta come una capanna in una vigna, come un rifugio in un campo di cocomeri, come una città assediata.
9 Had Yahweh Sabaoth not left us a few survivors, we should be like Sodom, we should be the same asGomorrah.	9 Se il Signore degli eserciti non ci avesse lasciato alcuni scampati, saremmo come Sodoma, rassomiglieremmo a Gomorra.
10 Hear what Yahweh says, you rulers of Sodom; listen to what our God teaches, you people ofGomorrah.	10 Ascoltate la parola del Signore, magistrati di Sodoma, prestate orecchio all'insegnamento del nostro Dio, popolo di Gomorra!
11 'What are your endless sacrifices to me?' says Yahweh. 'I am sick of burnt offerings of rams and the fatof calves. I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.	11 Che m'importa dell'abbondanza dei vostri sacrifici?, dice il Signore. Sono sazio degli olocausti degli arieti e del grasso dei vitelli. Il sangue dei tori, degli agnelli e dei capri non lo gradisco.
12 When you come and present yourselves before me, who has asked you to trample through my courts?	12 Quando venite a presentarvi davanti a me, chi richiede da voi che calpestiate i miei atri?
13 Bring no more futile cereal offerings, the smoke from them fil s me with disgust. New Moons, Sabbaths,assemblies -- I cannot endure solemnity combined with guilt.	13 Cessate di portare oblazioni inutili, l'incenso è per me un'abominazione, noviluni, sabati, pubbliche assemblee, non sopporto iniquità e feste solenni.
14 Your New Moons and your meetings I utterly detest; to me they are a burden I am tired of bearing.	14 L'anima mia odia i vostri noviluni e le vostre solennità; esse sono per me un peso, sono stanco di sopportarle.
15 When you stretch out your hands I turn my eyes away. You may multiply your prayers, I shal not belistening. Your hands are covered in blood,	15 Quando tendete le vostre mani, io chiudo i miei occhi davanti a voi. Anche quando moltiplicate la preghiera, io non ascolto, le vostre mani sono piene di sangue.
16 wash, make yourselves clean. Take your wrong-doing out of my sight. Cease doing evil.	16 Lavatevi, purificatevi, rimuovete dal mio cospetto il male delle vostre azioni, cessate di operare il male.
17 Learn to do good, search for justice, discipline the violent, be just to the orphan, plead for the widow.	17 Imparate a fare il bene, ricercate il diritto, soccorrete l'oppresso, rendete giustizia all'orfano, difendete la vedova.
18 'Come, let us talk this over,' says Yahweh. 'Though your sins are like scarlet, they shal be white assnow; though they are red as crimson, they shal be like wool.	18 Orsù, venite e discutiamo, dice il Signore: se i vostri peccati sono come scarlatto, diventeranno bianchi come neve; se sono rossi come la porpora, diventeranno come lana.
19 If you are willing to obey, you shall eat the good things of the earth.	19 Se sarete volonterosi ed obbedirete, mangerete i beni del paese.
20 But if you refuse and rebel, the sword shal eat you instead -- for Yahweh's mouth has spoken.'	20 Ma se rifiutate e vi ribellate, sarete divorati dalla spada, perché la bocca del Signore ha parlato.
21 The faithful city, what a harlot she has become! Zion, once ful of fair judgement, where saving justiceused to dwell, but now assassins!	21 Come mai è divenuta una meretrice la città fedele? Era piena di rettitudine, la giustizia abitava in essa, ora invece vi abitano gli assassini.
22 Your silver has turned into dross, your wine is watered.	22 Il tuo argento è diventato scorie, il tuo vino mescolato con acqua.
23 Your princes are rebels, accomplices of brigands. Al of them greedy for presents and eager for bribes,they show no justice to the orphan, and the widow's cause never reaches them.	23 I tuoi prìncipi sono ribelli e compagni di ladri; tutti essi amano regali e corrono dietro alle ricompense. Non fanno giustizia all'orfano e la causa della vedova non giunge fino ad essi.
24 Hence, the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth, the Mighty One of Israel, says this, 'Disaster, I shall get the better ofmy enemies, I shall avenge myself on my foes.	24 Perciò, oracolo del Signore, Dio degli eserciti, il Potente d'Israele: Ah, mi vendicherò dei miei avversari e farò vendetta dei miei nemici!
25 'I shal turn my hand against you, I shal purge your dross as though with potash, I shal remove al youral oy.	25 Stenderò la mia mano sopra di te, purificherò le tue scorie, come in un forno rimuoverò tutto il tuo piombo.
26 'And I shal restore your judges as at first, your counsel ors as in bygone days, after which you wil becal ed City of Saving Justice, Faithful City.'	26 Renderò i tuoi giudici di nuovo come all'inizio e i tuoi consiglieri come al principio; dopo di ciò sarai chiamata "città della giustizia" "città fedele".
27 Zion wil be redeemed by fair judgement, and those who return, by saving justice.	27 Sion sarà redenta attraverso il giudizio e i suoi convertiti per la giustizia.
28 Rebels and sinners alike wil be destroyed, and those who abandon Yahweh wil perish.	28 Ma i ribelli e i peccatori saranno insieme annientati, e quelli che abbandonano il Signore periranno.
29 How ashamed you wil be of the terebinths which gave you such delight; and how you wil blush for thegardens which you chose!	29 Sì, sarete confusi a causa delle querce che amate, e arrossirete a causa dei giardini che prediligete.
30 For you wil be like a terebinth with faded leaves, like a garden without water;	30 Sì, sarete come quercia dalle foglie cadenti e come giardino cui manca l'acqua.
31 the strong wil become like tinder, his work like the spark; both wil go up in flames together, with no oneto put them out.	31 Il vigoroso diventerà stoppa e la sua opera una favilla, ambedue bruceranno insieme e nessuno le spegnerà.
