Isaiah 1

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 The vision of Isaiah son of Amoz concerning Judah and Jerusalem, which he received in the reigns ofUzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah kings of Judah.	1 - Visione che Isaia, figlio di Amos, vide sopra Giuda e Gerusalemme, ai tempi di Ozia, Joatam, Acaz ed Ezechia, re di Giuda.
2 Listen, you heavens; earth, attend, for Yahweh is speaking, 'I have reared children and brought them up,but they have rebel ed against me.	2 Udite, o cieli, ascolta, o terra, perchè il Signore ha parlato: «Ho cresciuto i figli e li ho ingranditi,
3 The ox knows its owner and the donkey its master's crib; Israel does not know, my people do notunderstand.'	3 ed essi mi hanno disprezzato. Il bue ha conosciuto il suo possessore, e l'asino, la greppia del suo padrone; ma Israele non ha conosciuto me, e intelligenza il popolo mio non ne ha avuto.
4 Disaster, sinful nation, people weighed down with guilt, race of wrong-doers, perverted children! Theyhave abandoned Yahweh, despised the Holy One of Israel, they have turned away from him.	4 Oh! gente peccatrice, popolo carico di iniquità, mala semenza, figli scellerati, hanno abbandonato il Signore, bestiemmiato il Santo di Israele, si ritrassero indietro.
5 Where shal I strike you next, if you persist in treason? The whole head is sick, the whole heart isdiseased,	5 E su che vi percoterei ancora che non restate di aggiungere prevaricazione a prevaricazione? Tutto il capo è infermo, il cuore è tutto afflitto!
6 from the sole of the foot to the head there is nothing healthy: only wounds, bruises and open sores notdressed, not bandaged, not soothed with ointment,	6 Dalla pianta dei piedi fin al sommo della testa, non ha nulla di sano; ferita e lividura ed enfiata piaga, non fasciata, non medicata nè curata con olio!
7 your country a desolation, your towns burnt down, your soil, foreigners lay it waste before your eyes, adesolation like devastation by foreigners.	7 Disertata è la vostra terra, le città vostre arse dal fuoco, il vostro paese, in presenza vostra, divorato dagli stranieri e resterà desolato come in una devastazione nemica.
8 The daughter of Zion is left like a shanty in a vineyard, like a shed in a cucumber field, like a citybesieged.	8 E sarà lasciata la figlia di Sion quale un frascato in una vigna, quale una capanna in un cocomeraio, come una città smantellata».
9 Had Yahweh Sabaoth not left us a few survivors, we should be like Sodom, we should be the same asGomorrah.	9 Se il Signore degli eserciti non ci avesse lasciato il seme, saremmo diventati come Sodoma e simili a Gomorra.
10 Hear what Yahweh says, you rulers of Sodom; listen to what our God teaches, you people ofGomorrah.	10 Udite la parola del Signore, principi di Sodoma; date ascolto all'insegnamento del nostro Dio, popolo di Gomorra.
11 'What are your endless sacrifices to me?' says Yahweh. 'I am sick of burnt offerings of rams and the fatof calves. I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.	11 Che me ne faccio della quantità delle vostre vittime, dice il Signore? Ne sono sazio. Olocausti di montoni, grasso di pingui armenti, sangue di giovenchi e di agnelli e di capretti non ne voglio.
12 When you come and present yourselves before me, who has asked you to trample through my courts?	12 E quando veniste a visitarmi, chi ha chiesto ciò dalle vostre mani perchè veniate a ricalcare i miei cortili?
13 Bring no more futile cereal offerings, the smoke from them fil s me with disgust. New Moons, Sabbaths,assemblies -- I cannot endure solemnity combined with guilt.	13 Non continuate più a recare offerte, inutili. L'incenso l'ho in aborrimento, il novilunio, il sabato e le altre feste comandate non le posso soffrire; regna l'iniquità nelle vostre riunioni.
14 Your New Moons and your meetings I utterly detest; to me they are a burden I am tired of bearing.	14 I vostri novilunii e le vostre solennità sono in odio all'anima mia, mi sono di peso, sono stanco di sopportarle.
15 When you stretch out your hands I turn my eyes away. You may multiply your prayers, I shal not belistening. Your hands are covered in blood,	15 E in quella che stenderete le vostre palme, io ritrarrò da voi gli sguardi miei; anche se moltiplicherete le preghiere, non vi esaudirò; le vostre mani sono piene di sangue.
16 wash, make yourselves clean. Take your wrong-doing out of my sight. Cease doing evil.	16 Lavatevi, mondatevi, togliete via dagli occhi miei la malizia delle vostre intenzioni, cessate dal malfare;
17 Learn to do good, search for justice, discipline the violent, be just to the orphan, plead for the widow.	17 Imparate a far il bene, cercate il giusto, sollevate l'oppresso, fate giustizia all'orfano, difendete la vedova.
18 'Come, let us talk this over,' says Yahweh. 'Though your sins are like scarlet, they shal be white assnow; though they are red as crimson, they shal be like wool.	18 E poi venite, e date il torto a me, dice il Signore, se non farò che i vostri peccati, fossero pur come uno scarlatto, diventino bianchi come neve; e se fossero rossi come la porpora, diventino come candida lana.
19 If you are willing to obey, you shall eat the good things of the earth.	19 Se mi vorrete e se mi obbedirete, vi pascerete dei beni della terra.
20 But if you refuse and rebel, the sword shal eat you instead -- for Yahweh's mouth has spoken.'	20 Che se non vorrete e mi irriterete sarete pascolo della spada; perchè la bocca del Signore ha parlato.
21 The faithful city, what a harlot she has become! Zion, once ful of fair judgement, where saving justiceused to dwell, but now assassins!	21 Ahimè, come s'è prostituita la città fedele, piena di rettitudine! La giustizia ebbe già in essa la sua dimora, e ora l'hanno gli omicidi.
22 Your silver has turned into dross, your wine is watered.	22 Il tuo argento s'è convertito in scoria, il tuo vino è misto d'acqua.
23 Your princes are rebels, accomplices of brigands. Al of them greedy for presents and eager for bribes,they show no justice to the orphan, and the widow's cause never reaches them.	23 I tuoi principi infedeli, compagni di ladri: tutti sono amanti del dono, accattatori di ricompense; al pupillo non fanno giustizia, e la causa della vedova non giunge a loro.
24 Hence, the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth, the Mighty One of Israel, says this, 'Disaster, I shall get the better ofmy enemies, I shall avenge myself on my foes.	24 Perciò il Signore Dio degli eserciti, il forte d'Israele dice: «Ah! ch'io avrò soddisfazione dei miei avversari e farò vendetta dei miei nemici!
25 'I shal turn my hand against you, I shal purge your dross as though with potash, I shal remove al youral oy.	25 E volgerò la mia mano sopra di te, e fonderò le tue scorie e le colerò, e toglierò via tutto il tuo stagno.
26 'And I shal restore your judges as at first, your counsel ors as in bygone days, after which you wil becal ed City of Saving Justice, Faithful City.'	26 E ti ritornerò i tuoi giudici com'erano prima, e i tuoi consiglieri come in antico; e dopo di ciò sarai chiamata città del giusto, città fedele».
27 Zion wil be redeemed by fair judgement, and those who return, by saving justice.	27 Sion si riscatterà pagando a giusta misura, e la ricondurranno al suo primiero stato per via di giustizia; e Dio
28 Rebels and sinners alike wil be destroyed, and those who abandon Yahweh wil perish.	28 stritolerà insieme scellerati e peccatori: e coloro che hanno abbandonato il Signore saranno consumati.
29 How ashamed you wil be of the terebinths which gave you such delight; and how you wil blush for thegardens which you chose!	29 Oh, sì, torneranno a loro confusione le adorate querce che venerarono; e arrossirete dei giardini che avete prescelti,
30 For you wil be like a terebinth with faded leaves, like a garden without water;	30 allorquando sarete come quercia sfrondata, e come un giardino privo d'acqua.
31 the strong wil become like tinder, his work like the spark; both wil go up in flames together, with no oneto put them out.	31 E la vostra robustezza sarà come una miccia di stoppa, e l'opera vostra come scintilla; piglieranno fuoco tutti e due insieme, nè vi sarà chi estingua.
