Proverbs 8

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Is not Wisdom cal ing? Is not Understanding raising her voice?	1 Forse la sapienza non chiama? e non alza la voce la prudenza?
2 On the heights overlooking the road, at the crossways, she takes her stand;	2 in cima alle alture, lungo la strada, ai crocicchi delle vie sta in piedi
3 by the gates, at the entrance to the city, on the access-roads, she cries out,	3 vicino alle porte della città, dentro le stesse porte essa dice:
4 'I am cal ing to you, al people, my words are addressed to al humanity.	4 « O uomini, a voi il mio grido, la mia voce si rivolge ai figli degli uomini.
5 Simpletons, learn how to behave, fools, come to your senses.	5 Imparate, o piccoli, l'accortezza, e voi, o stolti, state attenti.
6 Listen, I have something important to tel you, when I speak, my words are right.	6 Ascoltate, perchè vo' parlare di grandi cose, e le mie labbra s'apriranno a predicare ciò che è retto.
7 My mouth proclaims the truth, for evil is abhorrent to my lips.	7 La mia bocca ragionerà della verità, e le mie labbra detesteranno ciò che è empio.
8 Al the words from my mouth are upright, nothing false there, nothing crooked,	8 I miei discorsi son tutti giusti; nulla v'è di falso o di storto;
9 everything plain, if you can understand, straight, if you have acquired knowledge.	9 son retti per l'uomo intelligente ed equi per chi ha trovata la scienza.
10 Accept my discipline rather than silver, and knowledge of me in preference to finest gold.	10 Preferite la mia disciplina al denaro e la scienza all'oro,
11 For Wisdom is more precious than jewels, and nothing else is so worthy of desire.	11 perchè la sapienza vai più di tutte le perle, e le cose più care non son da paragonarsi a lei.
12 'I, Wisdom, share house with Discretion, I am mistress of the art of thought.	12 Io, la sapienza, abito nel consiglio e presiedo ai saggi pensieri.
13 (Fear of Yahweh means hatred of evil.) I hate pride and arrogance, wicked behaviour and a lyingmouth.	13 Temere Dio vuol dire odiare il male. L'arroganza, la superbia, la perversa condotta e la bocca bilingue, io le detesto.
14 To me belong good advice and prudence, I am perception: power is mine!	14 A me appartiene il consiglio e l'equità, a me la prudenza, a me la forza.
15 By me monarchs rule and princes decree what is right;	15 Per me regnano i re, e i legislatori ordinano ciò che è giusto.
16 by me rulers govern, so do nobles, the lawful authorities.	16 Per me comandano i principi, e i giudici amministrano la giustizia.
17 I love those who love me; whoever searches eagerly for me finds me.	17 Io amo quelli che m'amano, e quelli che mi cercano con diligenza mi troveranno.
18 With me are riches and honour, lasting wealth and saving justice.	18 Meco sono le ricchezze e la gloria, i più alti beni e la giustizia.
19 The fruit I give is better than gold, even the finest, the return I make is better than pure silver.	19 Il mio frutto è migliore dell'oro e delle pietre preziose, e il mio prodotto vai più dell'argento eletto.
20 I walk in the way of uprightness in the path of justice,	20 Io cammino nelle vie della giustizia e per i sentieri della rettitudine,
21 to endow my friends with my wealth and to fil their treasuries.	21 per arricchire quelli che mi amano e riempire i loro tesori.
22 'Yahweh created me, first-fruits of his fashioning, before the oldest of his works.	22 Dio mi possedette all'inizio delle sue opere, fin da principio, avanti la creazione.
23 From everlasting, I was firmly set, from the beginning, before the earth came into being.	23 Ab eterno fui stabilita, al principio, avanti che fosse fatta la terra:
24 The deep was not, when I was born, nor were the springs with their abounding waters.	24 non erano ancora gli abissi, ed io ero già concepita. Non ancora le sorgenti delle acque rigurgitavano,
25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hil s, I came to birth;	25 non ancora le montagne si erano fermate sulla grave mole. Prima delle colline io ero partorita.
26 before he had made the earth, the countryside, and the first elements of the world.	26 Egli non aveva fatto ancora nè la terra, nè i fiumi, nè i cardini del mondo.
27 When he fixed the heavens firm, I was there, when he drew a circle on the surface of the deep,	27 Quando preparava i cieli io ero presente, quando con legge inviolabile chiuse sotto la volta l'abisso,
28 when he thickened the clouds above, when the sources of the deep began to swel ,	28 quando rese stabile in alto la volta celeste e vi sospese le fonti delle acque,
29 when he assigned the sea its boundaries -- and the waters will not encroach on the shore -- when hetraced the foundations of the earth,	29 quando fissava al mare i suoi confini e dava legge alle acque di non passare il loro termine, quando gettava i fondamenti della terra,
30 I was beside the master craftsman, delighting him day after day, ever at play in his presence,	30 io ero con lui a ordinare tutte le cose. Sempre nella gioia, scherzavo dinanzi a lui continuamente,
31 at play everywhere on his earth, delighting to be with the children of men.	31 scherzavo nell'universo: è mia delizia stare coi figli degli uomini.
32 'And now, my children, listen to me. Happy are those who keep my ways.	32 Or dunque, o figli, ascoltatemi: beati quelli che battono le mie vie.
33 Listen to instruction and become wise, do not reject it.	33 Ascoltate i miei avvisi per diventar saggi, non li ricusate.
34 Blessed, whoever listens to me, who day after day keeps watch at my gates to guard my portals.	34 Beato l'uomo che mi ascolta e veglia ogni giorno alla mia porta, e aspetta all'ingresso della mia casa.
35 For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains the favour of Yahweh;	35 Chi troverà me avrà trovata la vita, e riceverà dal Signore la salute.
36 but whoever misses me harms himself, al who hate me are in love with death.'	36 Ma chi peccherà contro di me farà torto a se stesso. Tutti quelli che mi odiano amano la morte ».
