Proverbs 8

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Is not Wisdom cal ing? Is not Understanding raising her voice?	1 ¿No está llamando la Sabiduría y no hace oír su voz la Inteligencia?
2 On the heights overlooking the road, at the crossways, she takes her stand;	2 En las cumbres más altas que bordean el camino, apostada en el cruce de los senderos,
3 by the gates, at the entrance to the city, on the access-roads, she cries out,	3 al lado de las puertas, a la entrada de la ciudad, en los lugares de acceso, ella dice en alta voz:
4 'I am cal ing to you, al people, my words are addressed to al humanity.	4 «A ustedes, hombres, yo los llamo, y mi voz se dirige a los seres humanos.
5 Simpletons, learn how to behave, fools, come to your senses.	5 Entiendan, incautos, qué es la perspicacia; entiendan, necios, qué es la sensatez.
6 Listen, I have something important to tel you, when I speak, my words are right.	6 Escuchen: es muy importante lo que voy a decir, mis labios se abren para expresar lo que es recto.
7 My mouth proclaims the truth, for evil is abhorrent to my lips.	7 Sí, mi boca profiere la verdad, la maldad es una abominación para mis labios.
8 Al the words from my mouth are upright, nothing false there, nothing crooked,	8 Todas mis palabras son conformes a la justicia, no hay en ellas nada retorcido o sinuoso;
9 everything plain, if you can understand, straight, if you have acquired knowledge.	9 todas son exactas para el que sabe entender y rectas para los que ha hallado la ciencia.
10 Accept my discipline rather than silver, and knowledge of me in preference to finest gold.	10 Adquieran mi instrucción, no la plata, y la ciencia más que el oro acrisolado.
11 For Wisdom is more precious than jewels, and nothing else is so worthy of desire.	11 Porque la Sabiduría vale más que las perlas, y nada apetecible se le puede igualar».
12 'I, Wisdom, share house with Discretion, I am mistress of the art of thought.	12 Yo, la Sabiduría, habito con la prudencia y poseo la ciencia de la reflexión.
13 (Fear of Yahweh means hatred of evil.) I hate pride and arrogance, wicked behaviour and a lyingmouth.	13 El temor del Señor es detestar el mal: yo detesto la soberbia, el orgullo, la mala conducta y la boca perversa.
14 To me belong good advice and prudence, I am perception: power is mine!	14 A mí me pertenecen el consejo y la habilidad, yo soy la inteligencia, mío es el poder.
15 By me monarchs rule and princes decree what is right;	15 Por mí reinan los reyes y los soberanos decretan la justicia;
16 by me rulers govern, so do nobles, the lawful authorities.	16 por mí gobiernan los príncipes y los nobles juzgan la tierra.
17 I love those who love me; whoever searches eagerly for me finds me.	17 Yo amo a los que me aman y los que me buscan ardientemente, me encontrarán.
18 With me are riches and honour, lasting wealth and saving justice.	18 Conmigo están la riqueza y la gloria, los bienes perdurables y la justicia.
19 The fruit I give is better than gold, even the finest, the return I make is better than pure silver.	19 Mi fruto vale más que el oro, que el oro fino, y rindo más que la plata acrisolada.
20 I walk in the way of uprightness in the path of justice,	20 Yo voy por el sendero de la justicia, en medio de las sendas de la equidad,
21 to endow my friends with my wealth and to fil their treasuries.	21 para repartir posesiones a los que me aman y para colmar sus tesoros.
22 'Yahweh created me, first-fruits of his fashioning, before the oldest of his works.	22 El Señor me creó como primicia de sus caminos, antes de sus obras, desde siempre.
23 From everlasting, I was firmly set, from the beginning, before the earth came into being.	23 Yo fui formada desde la eternidad, desde el comienzo, antes de los orígenes de la tierra.
24 The deep was not, when I was born, nor were the springs with their abounding waters.	24 Yo nací cuando no existían los abismos, cuando no había fuentes de aguas caudalosas.
25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hil s, I came to birth;	25 Antes que fueran cimentadas las montañas, antes que las colinas, yo nací,
26 before he had made the earth, the countryside, and the first elements of the world.	26 cuando él no había hecho aún la tierra ni los espacios ni los primeros elementos del mundo.
27 When he fixed the heavens firm, I was there, when he drew a circle on the surface of the deep,	27 Cuando él afianzaba el cielo, yo estaba allí; cuando trazaba el horizonte sobre el océano,
28 when he thickened the clouds above, when the sources of the deep began to swel ,	28 cuando condensaba las nubes en lo alto, cuando infundía poder a las fuentes del océano,
29 when he assigned the sea its boundaries -- and the waters will not encroach on the shore -- when hetraced the foundations of the earth,	29 cuando fijaba su límite al mar para que las aguas no transgredieran sus bordes, cuando afirmaba los cimientos de la tierra,
30 I was beside the master craftsman, delighting him day after day, ever at play in his presence,	30 yo estaba a su lado como un hijo querido y lo deleitaba día tras día, recreándome delante de él en todo tiempo,
31 at play everywhere on his earth, delighting to be with the children of men.	31 recreándome sobre la faz de la tierra, y mi delicia era estar con los hijos de los hombres.
32 'And now, my children, listen to me. Happy are those who keep my ways.	32 Y ahora, hijos, escúchenme: ¡felices los que observan mis caminos!
33 Listen to instruction and become wise, do not reject it.	33 Escuchen la instrucción y sean sabios: ¡no la descuiden!
34 Blessed, whoever listens to me, who day after day keeps watch at my gates to guard my portals.	34 ¡Feliz el hombre que me escucha, velando a mis puertas día tras día y vigilando a la entrada de mi casa!
35 For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains the favour of Yahweh;	35 Porque el que me encuentra ha encontrado la vida y ha obtenido el favor del Señor;
36 but whoever misses me harms himself, al who hate me are in love with death.'	36 pero el que peca contra mí se hace daño a sí mismo y todos los que me odian, aman la muerte.
