Psalms 124

NEW JERUSALEM	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 [Song of Ascents Of David] If Yahweh had not been on our side -- let Israel repeat it-	1 To thee have I lifted up my eyes, who dwellest in heaven.
2 if Yahweh had not been on our side when people attacked us,	2 Behold as the eyes of the servants are on the hands of their masters, As the eyes of the handmaid are on the hands of her mistress: so are our eyes unto the Lord our God, until he have mercy on us.
3 they would have swal owed us alive in the heat of their anger.	3 Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us: for we are greatly filled with contempt.
4 Then water was washing us away, a torrent running right over us;	4 For our soul is greatly filled: we are a reproach to the rich, and contempt to the proud.
5 running right over us then were turbulent waters.
6 Blessed be Yahweh for not letting us fall a prey to their teeth!
7 We escaped like a bird from the fowlers' net. The net was broken and we escaped;
8 our help is in the name of Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.
