Job 2

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Another day, the sons of God came to attend on Yahweh and Satan came with them too.	1 Or avvenne un dì, che i figliuoli di Dio vennero a presentarsi davanti al Signore; e Satana venne anch’egli per mezzo loro a presentarsi davanti al Signore.
2 So Yahweh said to Satan, 'Where have you been?' 'Prowling about on earth,' he answered, 'roamingaround there.'	2 E il Signore disse a Satana: Onde vieni? E Satana rispose al Signore, e disse: Da aggirar la terra, e da passeggiar per essa.
3 So Yahweh asked him, 'Did you pay any attention to my servant Job? There is no one like him on theearth: a sound and honest man who fears God and shuns evil. He persists in his integrity stil ; you achieved nothing by provoking me to ruin him.'	3 E il Signore disse a Satana: Hai tu posto mente al mio servitore Giobbe? come nella terra non vi è uomo intiero e diritto, che tema Iddio, e si ritragga dal male, come esso? ed anche persevera egli nella sua integrità, benchè tu mi abbi incitato contro a lui, per distruggerlo senza cagione.
4 'Skin after skin!' Satan replied. 'Someone wil give away al he has to save his life.	4 E Satana rispose al Signore, e disse: Pelle per pelle; ma l’uomo darà tutto ciò ch’egli ha per la sua vita.
5 But stretch out your hand and lay a finger on his bone and flesh; I warrant you, he wil curse you to yourface.'	5 Ma ora, stendi pur la mano, e tocca le sue ossa, e la sua carne; e vedrai se non ti maledice in faccia.
6 'Very wel ,' Yahweh said to Satan, 'he is in your power. But spare his life.'	6 E il Signore disse a Satana: Eccolo in man tua; sol guardati di toccar la sua vita
7 So Satan left the presence of Yahweh. He struck Job down with malignant ulcers from the sole of hisfoot to the top of his head.	7 E Satana, partitosi dal cospetto del Signore, percosse Giobbe d’un’ulcera maligna, dalla pianta del piè infino alla sommità del capo.
8 Job took a piece of pot to scrape himself, and went and sat among the ashes.	8 Ed egli si prese un testo per grattarsi, ed era assiso per mezzo le ceneri.
9 Then his wife said to him, 'Why persist in this integrity of yours? Curse God and die.'	9 E la sua moglie gli disse: Ancora perseveri tu nella tua integrità? benedici Iddio, e muori.
10 'That is how a fool of a woman talks,' Job replied. 'If we take happiness from God's hand, must we nottake sorrow too?' And in al this misfortune Job uttered no sinful word.	10 Ma egli le disse: Tu parli come una d’infra le donne stolte; sì avremmo noi ricevuto da Dio il bene, e non riceveremmo il male? In tutto ciò Giobbe non peccò con le sue labbra
11 The news of al the disasters that had fal en on Job came to the ears of three of his friends. Each ofthem set out from home -- Eliphaz of Teman, Bildad of Shuah and Zophar of Naamath -- and by commonconsent they decided to go and offer him sympathy and consolation.	11 OR tre amici di Giobbe: Elifaz Temanita, Bildad Suhita, e Sofar Naamatita, avendo udito tutto questo male che gli era sopraggiunto, se ne vennero, ciascuno dal suo luogo; e si trovarono insieme, per venire a condolersi con lui, ed a consolarlo.
12 Looking at him from a distance, they could not recognise him; they wept aloud and tore their robes andthrew dust over their heads.	12 E levati gli occhi da lungi, nol riconobbero; e alzarono la voce, e piansero; e ciascun di loro stracciò il suo mantello, e si sparsero della polvere in su la testa, gittandola verso il cielo.
13 They sat there on the ground beside him for seven days and seven nights. To Job they spoke never aword, for they saw how much he was suffering.	13 E sedettero con lui in terra per sette giorni, e per sette notti; e niuno gli disse alcuna parola; perciocchè vedevano che la doglia era molto grande
