Job 2

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Another day, the sons of God came to attend on Yahweh and Satan came with them too.	1 El día en que los hijos de Dios fueron a presentarse delante del Señor, también fue el Adversario en medio de ellos, para presentarse delante del Señor.
2 So Yahweh said to Satan, 'Where have you been?' 'Prowling about on earth,' he answered, 'roamingaround there.'	2 El Señor le dijo: «¿De dónde vienes?». El Adversario respondió al Señor: «De rondar por la tierra, yendo de aquí para allá».
3 So Yahweh asked him, 'Did you pay any attention to my servant Job? There is no one like him on theearth: a sound and honest man who fears God and shuns evil. He persists in his integrity stil ; you achieved nothing by provoking me to ruin him.'	3 Entonces el Señor le dijo: «¿Te has fijado en mi servidor Job? No hay nadie como él sobre la tierra: es un hombre íntegro y recto, temeroso de Dios y alejado del mal. El todavía se mantiene firme en su integridad, y en vano me has instigado contra él para perderlo».
4 'Skin after skin!' Satan replied. 'Someone wil give away al he has to save his life.	4 El Adversario respondió al Señor: «¡Piel por piel! Un hombre da todo lo que tiene a cambio de su vida.
5 But stretch out your hand and lay a finger on his bone and flesh; I warrant you, he wil curse you to yourface.'	5 Pero extiende tu mano contra él y tócalo en sus huesos y en su carne: ¡seguro que te maldecirá en la cara!».
6 'Very wel ,' Yahweh said to Satan, 'he is in your power. But spare his life.'	6 El Señor respondió al Adversario: «Está bien. Ahí lo tienes en tu poder, pero respétale la vida».
7 So Satan left the presence of Yahweh. He struck Job down with malignant ulcers from the sole of hisfoot to the top of his head.	7 El Adversario se alejó de la presencia del Señor, e hirió a Job con una úlcera maligna, desde la planta de los pies hasta la cabeza.
8 Job took a piece of pot to scrape himself, and went and sat among the ashes.	8 Job tomó entonces un pedazo de teja para rascarse, y permaneció sentado en medio de la ceniza.
9 Then his wife said to him, 'Why persist in this integrity of yours? Curse God and die.'	9 Su mujer le dijo: «¿Todavía vas a mantenerte firme en tu integridad? Maldice a Dios y muere de una vez».
10 'That is how a fool of a woman talks,' Job replied. 'If we take happiness from God's hand, must we nottake sorrow too?' And in al this misfortune Job uttered no sinful word.	10 Pero él le respondió: «Hablas como una mujer insensata. Si aceptamos de Dios lo bueno, ¿no aceptaremos también lo malo?». En todo esto, Job no pecó con sus labios.
11 The news of al the disasters that had fal en on Job came to the ears of three of his friends. Each ofthem set out from home -- Eliphaz of Teman, Bildad of Shuah and Zophar of Naamath -- and by commonconsent they decided to go and offer him sympathy and consolation.	11 Tres amigos de Job se enteraron de todos los males que le habían sobrevenido, y llegaron cada uno de su país. Eran Elifaz de Temán, Bildad de Súaj y Sofar de Naamá, los cuales se pusieron de acuerdo para ir a expresarles sus condolencias y consolarlo.
12 Looking at him from a distance, they could not recognise him; they wept aloud and tore their robes andthrew dust over their heads.	12 Al divisarlo de lejos, no lo reconocieron. Entonces se pusieron a llorar a gritos, rasgaron sus mantos y arrojaron polvo sobre sus cabezas.
13 They sat there on the ground beside him for seven days and seven nights. To Job they spoke never aword, for they saw how much he was suffering.	13 Después permanecieron sentados en el suelo junto a él, siete días y siete noches, sin decir una sola palabra, porque veían que su dolor era muy grande.
