Job 2

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 Another day, the sons of God came to attend on Yahweh and Satan came with them too.	1 Accadde, un giorno, che i figli di Dio andarono a presentarsi al Signore, e anche Satana andò in mezzo a loro a presentarsi al Signore.
2 So Yahweh said to Satan, 'Where have you been?' 'Prowling about on earth,' he answered, 'roamingaround there.'	2 Il Signore chiese a Satana: «Da dove vieni?». Satana rispose al Signore: «Dalla terra, che ho percorso in lungo e in largo».
3 So Yahweh asked him, 'Did you pay any attention to my servant Job? There is no one like him on theearth: a sound and honest man who fears God and shuns evil. He persists in his integrity stil ; you achieved nothing by provoking me to ruin him.'	3 Il Signore disse a Satana: «Hai posto attenzione al mio servo Giobbe? Nessuno è come lui sulla terra: uomo integro e retto, timorato di Dio e lontano dal male. Egli è ancora saldo nella sua integrità; tu mi hai spinto contro di lui per rovinarlo, senza ragione».
4 'Skin after skin!' Satan replied. 'Someone wil give away al he has to save his life.	4 Satana rispose al Signore: «Pelle per pelle; tutto quello che possiede, l’uomo è pronto a darlo per la sua vita.
5 But stretch out your hand and lay a finger on his bone and flesh; I warrant you, he wil curse you to yourface.'	5 Ma stendi un poco la mano e colpiscilo nelle ossa e nella carne e vedrai come ti maledirà apertamente!».
6 'Very wel ,' Yahweh said to Satan, 'he is in your power. But spare his life.'	6 Il Signore disse a Satana: «Eccolo nelle tue mani! Soltanto risparmia la sua vita».
7 So Satan left the presence of Yahweh. He struck Job down with malignant ulcers from the sole of hisfoot to the top of his head.	7 Satana si ritirò dalla presenza del Signore e colpì Giobbe con una piaga maligna, dalla pianta dei piedi alla cima del capo.
8 Job took a piece of pot to scrape himself, and went and sat among the ashes.	8 Giobbe prese un coccio per grattarsi e stava seduto in mezzo alla cenere.
9 Then his wife said to him, 'Why persist in this integrity of yours? Curse God and die.'	9 Allora sua moglie disse: «Rimani ancora saldo nella tua integrità? Maledici Dio e muori!».
10 'That is how a fool of a woman talks,' Job replied. 'If we take happiness from God's hand, must we nottake sorrow too?' And in al this misfortune Job uttered no sinful word.	10 Ma egli le rispose: «Tu parli come parlerebbe una stolta! Se da Dio accettiamo il bene, perché non dovremmo accettare il male?». In tutto questo Giobbe non peccò con le sue labbra.
11 The news of al the disasters that had fal en on Job came to the ears of three of his friends. Each ofthem set out from home -- Eliphaz of Teman, Bildad of Shuah and Zophar of Naamath -- and by commonconsent they decided to go and offer him sympathy and consolation.	11 Tre amici di Giobbe vennero a sapere di tutte le disgrazie che si erano abbattute su di lui. Partirono, ciascuno dalla sua contrada, Elifaz di Teman, Bildad di Suach e Sofar di Naamà, e si accordarono per andare a condividere il suo dolore e a consolarlo.
12 Looking at him from a distance, they could not recognise him; they wept aloud and tore their robes andthrew dust over their heads.	12 Alzarono gli occhi da lontano, ma non lo riconobbero. Levarono la loro voce e si misero a piangere. Ognuno si stracciò il mantello e lanciò polvere verso il cielo sul proprio capo.
13 They sat there on the ground beside him for seven days and seven nights. To Job they spoke never aword, for they saw how much he was suffering.	13 Poi sedettero accanto a lui in terra, per sette giorni e sette notti. Nessuno gli rivolgeva una parola, perché vedevano che molto grande era il suo dolore.
