Exodus 34

1 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones and come up to me on themountain, and I wil write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.	1 Poi il Signore disse a Mosè: « Tagliati due tavole di pietra come le prime, ed io vi scriverò le parole che eran sopra le tavole da te spezzate.
2 Be ready at dawn; at dawn come up Mount Sinai and wait for me there at the top of the mountain.	2 Sii pronto per domattina a salire subito sul monte Sinai, ove starai meco sulla vetta del monte.
3 No one may come up with you, no one may be seen anywhere on the mountain; the flocks and herdsmay not even graze in front of this mountain.'	3 Nessuno salga con te e non si vegga nessuno per tutto il monte; buoi e pecore non pascolino nelle vicinanze ».
4 So he cut two tablets of stone like the first and, with the two tablets of stone in his hands, Moses wentup Mount Sinai in the early morning as Yahweh had ordered.	4 Mosè adunque tagliò due tavole di pietra come le prime, e alzatosi di notte salì sul monte Sinai, come il Signore gli aveva comandato, e prese con sè le tavole.
5 And Yahweh descended in a cloud and stood with him there and pronounced the name Yahweh.	5 E quando il Signore discese nella nuvola, Mosè stette con lui, pronunziò il nome del Signore.
6 Then Yahweh passed before him and cal ed out, 'Yahweh, Yahweh, God of tenderness andcompassion, slow to anger, rich in faithful love and constancy,	6 E quando il Signore gli passò davanti, Mosè gridò: « Dominatore, Signore, Dio misericordioso, clemente, paziente, di molta misericordia e verace,
7 maintaining his faithful love to thousands, forgiving fault, crime and sin, yet letting nothing gounchecked, and punishing the parent's fault in the children and in the grandchildren to the third and fourthgeneration!'	7 che mantieni la misericordia in mille generazioni, che togli le iniquità, le scelleratezze, i peccati, ma nessuno è di per sè innocente al tuo cospetto, che punisci l'iniquità dei padri nei figli e nei nipoti fino alla terza e alla quarta generazione! »
8 Moses immediately bowed to the ground in worship,	8 E Mosè si prostrò subito fino a terra in adorazione
9 then he said, 'If indeed I do enjoy your favour, please, my Lord, come with us, although they are anobstinate people; and forgive our faults and sins, and adopt us as your heritage.'	9 e disse: « Signore, se ho trovato grazia nel tuo cospetto, vieni, ti prego, in mezzo a noi, perchè questo popolo è di dura cervice, togli le nostre iniquità e i nostri peccati, e prendi possesso di noi ».
10 He then said, 'Look, I am now making a covenant: I shal work such wonders at the head of yourwhole people as have never been worked in any other country or nation, and all the people round you wil seewhat Yahweh can do, for what I shal do through you wil be awe-inspiring.	10 E il Signore rispose: «Ecco farò il patto al cospetto di tutti: farò prodigi che non furono mai veduti sulla terra, nè in nessuna nazione, affinchè questo popolo nel mezzo del quale ti trovi veda l'opera terribile del Signore ch'io sto per fare,
11 Mark, then, what I command you today. I am going to drive out the Amorites, the Canaanites, theHittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites before you.	11 Osserva tutte le cose che oggi ti comando; ed io stesso caccerò davanti a te l'Amorreo, il Cananeo, l'Eteo, il Ferezeo, l'Eveo, il Gebuseo.
12 Take care you make no pact with the inhabitants of the country which you are about to enter, or theywil prove a snare in your community.	12 Guardati per sempre dal contrarre amicizie cogli abitanti di quel paese, chè sarebbero per te una rovina;
13 You wil tear down their altars, smash their cultic stones and cut down their sacred poles,	13 ma distruggi i loro altari, spezza le loro statue e taglia i loro boschi sacri;
14 for you wil worship no other god, since Yahweh's name is the Jealous One; he is a jealous God.	14 non adorare altro dio, perchè il Signore si chiama Geloso: Dio è geloso.
15 Make no pact with the inhabitants of the country or, when they prostitute themselves to their owngods and sacrifice to them, they wil invite you and you wil partake of their sacrifice,	15 Non far lega cogli abitanti di quei paesi, affinchè quando essi avran fornicato coi loro dèi, e avranno adorato i loro simulacri, non avvenga che t'invitino a mangiar delle cose immolate.
16 and then you wil choose wives for your sons from among their daughters, and their daughters,prostituting themselves to their own gods, wil induce your sons to prostitute themselves to their gods.	16 Nè prenderai tra le loro figlie le mogli dei tuoi figlioli, affinchè non avvenga che esse, dopo aver fornicato coi loro dèi, non faccian fornicare anche i tuoi figli.
17 'You wil not cast metal gods for yourself.	17 Non ti farai dèi di getto.
18 'You wil observe the feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days you wil eat unleavened bread, as Ihave commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in the month of Abib you came out ofEgypt.	18 Osserverai la solennità degli azzimi, mangiando azzimo per sette giorni nel mese delle nuove biade, come ti ho comandato, perchè nel mese di primavera sei uscito dall'Egitto.
19 'Al that first issues from the womb belongs to me: every male, every first-born of flock or herd.	19 Ogni primogenito maschio sarà mio, anche del bestiame, buoi o pecore che siano, sarà mio.
20 But the first-born donkey you wil redeem with an animal from the flock; if you do not redeem it, youmust break its neck. Al the first-born of your sons you will redeem, and no one wil appear before me empty-handed.	20 Riscatterai con una pecora il primo nato dell'asino, e se non lo vuoi riscattare, uccidilo. Riscatterai i primogeniti dei tuoi figli, e non comparirai dinanzi a me a mani vuote.
21 'For six days you wil labour, but on the seventh day you wil rest; you wil stop work even duringploughing and harvesting.	21 Lavorerai sei giorni, al settimo cesserai dall'arare e dal mietere.
22 'You wil observe the feast of Weeks, of the first-fruits of the wheat harvest, and the feast ofIngathering at the close of the year.	22 Celebrerai la solennità delle settimane al tempodelle primizie della tua messe di frumento, e la solennità delle raccolte alla fine dell'anno.
23 'Three times a year al your menfolk wil appear before Lord Yahweh, God of Israel,	23 Tre, volte l'anno ogni tuo maschio comparirà al cospetto dell'onnipotente Signore Dio d'Israele.
24 for I shal dispossess the nations before you and extend your frontiers, and no one wil set his hearton your territory when you go away to appear before Yahweh your God three times a year.	24 E quando io avrò cacciato dal tuo cospetto le nazioni, e avrò dilatati i tuoi confini, nessuno penserà a invadere la tua terra, se tu salirai per comparire al cospetto del Signore tre volte l'anno.
25 'You wil not offer the blood of my sacrificial victim with leavened bread, nor is the victim offered atthe feast of Passover to be left until the fol owing day.	25 Non immoleraicon pane fermentato il sangue della mia vittima, e della vittima della solennità di Pasqua nulla resterà fino al mattino.
26 'You wil bring the best of the first-fruits of your soil to the house of Yahweh your God. 'You wil notboil a kid in its mother's milk.'	26 soffrirai le primizie dei frutti della tua terra nella casa del Signore Dio tuo. Non cocerai il capretto nei sangue dellamadre ».
27 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Put these words in writing, for they are the terms of the covenant whichI have made with you and with Israel.'	27 E il Signore disse a Mosè: « Scriviti queste parole sulle quali ho contratto alleanza con te e coi figli d'Israele ».
28 He stayed there with Yahweh for forty days and forty nights, eating and drinking nothing, and on thetablets he wrote the words of the covenant -- the Ten Words.	28 E Mosè rimase lassù col Signore quaranta giorni e quaranta notti, senza mangiar pane e senza bere acqua, e scrisse sulle tavole le dieci parole dell'alleanza.
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, as hewas coming down the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face was radiant because he had beentalking to him.	29 Or Mosè, scendendo dal monte Sinai con le due tavole della testimonianza, non sapeva che dalla sua faccia uscivan due raggi a causa del suo trattenimento famigliare con Dio.
30 And when Aaron and al the Israelites saw Moses, the skin on his face was so radiant that they wereafraid to go near him.	30 Ma Aronne e i figli d'Israele, veduta risplendere la faccia di Mosè, non ardivano accostarsi a lui.
31 But Moses called to them, and Aaron and al the leaders of the community rejoined him, and Mosestalked to them,	31 Ma, chiamati che furono, Aronne e i capi della Sinagoga andarono a lui. E dopo che egli ebbe loro parlato,
32 after which al the Israelites came closer, and he passed on to them al the orders that Yahweh hadgiven to him on Mount Sinai.	32 si accostarono anche tutti i figli d'Israele, ai quali intimò tutto quello che gli aveva detto il Signore sul monte Sinai.
33 Once Moses had finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face.	33 E finito che ebbe di parlare, si mise un velo sulla faccia.
34 Whenever Moses went into Yahweh's presence to speak with him, he took the veil off until he cameout. And when he came out, he would tel the Israelites what orders he had been given,	34 Quando entrava dal Signore a parlare con lui si toglieva il velo finché non usciva fuori, e allora bandiva ai figli d'Israele tutto quello che gli era stato comandato.
35 and the Israelites would see Moses' face radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his faceuntil he went in to speak to him next time.	35 Essi vedevano che la faccia di Mosè era risplendente quando usciva, ma egli, se aveva da parlar loro, copriva di nuovo la sua faccia.
