NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones and come up to me on themountain, and I wil write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.	1 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Scolpisciti due tavole di pietra, come le prime: scriverò sulle tavole le parole che erano sulle prime tavole che hai rotto.
2 Be ready at dawn; at dawn come up Mount Sinai and wait for me there at the top of the mountain.	2 Sii pronto al mattino: sali, al mattino, sul monte Sinai e starai lì per me, sulla cima del monte.
3 No one may come up with you, no one may be seen anywhere on the mountain; the flocks and herdsmay not even graze in front of this mountain.'	3 Nessuno salirà con te, neppure uno si veda in tutto il monte: né greggi né armenti pascolino intorno a questo monte".
4 So he cut two tablets of stone like the first and, with the two tablets of stone in his hands, Moses wentup Mount Sinai in the early morning as Yahweh had ordered.	4 Mosè tagliò due tavole di pietra, come le prime, poi si alzò di buon mattino e salì sul monte Sinai, come gli aveva ordinato il Signore, e prese nella sua mano le due tavole di pietra.
5 And Yahweh descended in a cloud and stood with him there and pronounced the name Yahweh.	5 Il Signore scese nella nuvola e si tenne là presso di lui ed egli invocò il nome del Signore.
6 Then Yahweh passed before him and cal ed out, 'Yahweh, Yahweh, God of tenderness andcompassion, slow to anger, rich in faithful love and constancy,	6 Il Signore passò davanti a lui e gridò: "Il Signore, il Signore, Dio di pietà e misericordia, lento all'ira e ricco di grazia e verità,
7 maintaining his faithful love to thousands, forgiving fault, crime and sin, yet letting nothing gounchecked, and punishing the parent's fault in the children and in the grandchildren to the third and fourthgeneration!'	7 che conserva grazia per mille generazioni, sopporta colpa, trasgressione e peccato, ma senza ritenerli innocenti, che visita la colpa dei padri sui figli e sui figli dei figli fino alla terza e fino alla quarta generazione".
8 Moses immediately bowed to the ground in worship,	8 Mosè si chinò a terra e si prostrò.
9 then he said, 'If indeed I do enjoy your favour, please, my Lord, come with us, although they are anobstinate people; and forgive our faults and sins, and adopt us as your heritage.'	9 Poi disse: "Se ho trovato grazia ai tuoi occhi, mio Signore, venga il mio Signore in mezzo a noi, perché quello è un popolo duro di cervice; perdona la nostra colpa e il nostro peccato e prendici in eredità".
10 He then said, 'Look, I am now making a covenant: I shal work such wonders at the head of yourwhole people as have never been worked in any other country or nation, and all the people round you wil seewhat Yahweh can do, for what I shal do through you wil be awe-inspiring.	10 Il Signore disse: "Ecco, io contraggo un'alleanza di fronte a tutto il tuo popolo: compirò prodigi che non sono mai stati compiuti in tutta la terra e tra tutte le nazioni; tutto il popolo, in mezzo al quale tu sei, vedrà come è terribile l'opera del Signore, che io farò con te.
11 Mark, then, what I command you today. I am going to drive out the Amorites, the Canaanites, theHittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites before you.	11 Osserva quello che io ti ordino oggi: ecco, caccio davanti a te l'Amorreo, il Cananeo, l'Hittita, il Perizzita, l'Eveo e il Gebuseo.
12 Take care you make no pact with the inhabitants of the country which you are about to enter, or theywil prove a snare in your community.	12 Guàrdati dal contrarre alleanza con l'abitante del paese nel quale stai andando, perché non sia una trappola in mezzo a te:
13 You wil tear down their altars, smash their cultic stones and cut down their sacred poles,	13 rovescerete i loro altari, spezzerete le loro stele, taglierete i loro pali sacri,
14 for you wil worship no other god, since Yahweh's name is the Jealous One; he is a jealous God.	14 perché non ti prostrerai a un altro dio, poiché il Signore è un Dio geloso.
15 Make no pact with the inhabitants of the country or, when they prostitute themselves to their owngods and sacrifice to them, they wil invite you and you wil partake of their sacrifice,	15 Non contrarre alleanza con l'abitante del paese: altrimenti, quando si prostituiscono ai loro dèi e sacrificano ai loro dèi, ti chiamerà e mangerai del suo sacrificio.
16 and then you wil choose wives for your sons from among their daughters, and their daughters,prostituting themselves to their own gods, wil induce your sons to prostitute themselves to their gods.	16 Non prenderai delle sue figlie per i tuoi figli: altrimenti quando esse si prostituiranno ai loro dèi, faranno prostituire i tuoi figli ai loro dèi.
17 'You wil not cast metal gods for yourself.	17 Non ti farai un dio di metallo fuso.
18 'You wil observe the feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days you wil eat unleavened bread, as Ihave commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in the month of Abib you came out ofEgypt.	18 Osserverai la festa degli Azzimi: per sette giorni mangerai azzimi, come ti ho ordinato, per il tempo stabilito del mese di Abib, perché nel mese di Abib sei uscito dall'Egitto.
19 'Al that first issues from the womb belongs to me: every male, every first-born of flock or herd.	19 Chiunque apre il grembo è mio, ogni primogenito maschio, bovino e ovino.
20 But the first-born donkey you wil redeem with an animal from the flock; if you do not redeem it, youmust break its neck. Al the first-born of your sons you will redeem, and no one wil appear before me empty-handed.	20 Riscatterai il primo nato di un asino con un ovino e se non potrai riscattarlo gli spaccherai la nuca. Riscatterai ogni primogenito dei tuoi figli. Non ti presenterai davanti a me a mani vuote.
21 'For six days you wil labour, but on the seventh day you wil rest; you wil stop work even duringploughing and harvesting.	21 Lavorerai per sei giorni, ma al settimo giorno riposerai: durante l'aratura e la mietitura riposerai.
22 'You wil observe the feast of Weeks, of the first-fruits of the wheat harvest, and the feast ofIngathering at the close of the year.	22 Celebrerai la festa delle settimane, primizia della mietitura del grano, e la festa del raccolto, al volgere dell'anno.
23 'Three times a year al your menfolk wil appear before Lord Yahweh, God of Israel,	23 Tre volte all'anno ogni tuo maschio si presenterà davanti al Signore, Dio d'Israele,
24 for I shal dispossess the nations before you and extend your frontiers, and no one wil set his hearton your territory when you go away to appear before Yahweh your God three times a year.	24 perché ti farò entrare in possesso di nazioni davanti a te e allargherò i tuoi confini: nessuno bramerà la tua terra, quando salirai a vedere il volto del Signore, tuo Dio, tre volte all'anno.
25 'You wil not offer the blood of my sacrificial victim with leavened bread, nor is the victim offered atthe feast of Passover to be left until the fol owing day.	25 Non immolerai sul pane lievitato il mio sacrificio di sangue e il sacrificio della festa di Pasqua non dovrà durare tutta la notte fino al mattino.
26 'You wil bring the best of the first-fruits of your soil to the house of Yahweh your God. 'You wil notboil a kid in its mother's milk.'	26 Porterai alla casa del Signore, tuo Dio, il meglio delle primizie del tuo suolo. Non farai cuocere un capretto nel latte di sua madre".
27 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Put these words in writing, for they are the terms of the covenant whichI have made with you and with Israel.'	27 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Scrivi queste parole, perché secondo queste parole ho contratto alleanza con te e con Israele".
28 He stayed there with Yahweh for forty days and forty nights, eating and drinking nothing, and on thetablets he wrote the words of the covenant -- the Ten Words.	28 Mosè stette con il Signore quaranta giorni e quaranta notti: non mangiò pane né bevve acqua. Scrisse sulle tavole le parole dell'alleanza, le dieci parole.
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, as hewas coming down the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face was radiant because he had beentalking to him.	29 Quando Mosè scese dal monte Sinai, le due tavole della testimonianza erano in mano sua, mentre scendeva dal monte, e Mosè non sapeva che la pelle del suo viso era raggiante, per avere parlato con lui.
30 And when Aaron and al the Israelites saw Moses, the skin on his face was so radiant that they wereafraid to go near him.	30 Aronne e tutti i figli d'Israele videro Mosè, ed ecco, la pelle del suo viso era raggiante; ebbero paura di avvicinarsi a lui.
31 But Moses called to them, and Aaron and al the leaders of the community rejoined him, and Mosestalked to them,	31 Mosè li chiamò e Aronne con tutti i capi della comunità andò da lui. Mosè parlò con loro.
32 after which al the Israelites came closer, and he passed on to them al the orders that Yahweh hadgiven to him on Mount Sinai.	32 Dopo di che, tutti i figli d'Israele si avvicinarono e ordinò loro tutto quello che il Signore gli aveva detto sul monte Sinai.
33 Once Moses had finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face.	33 Quando Mosè ebbe finito di parlare con loro, si mise un velo sul volto.
34 Whenever Moses went into Yahweh's presence to speak with him, he took the veil off until he cameout. And when he came out, he would tel the Israelites what orders he had been given,	34 Quando Mosè entrava davanti al Signore per parlare con lui, toglieva il velo fino alla sua uscita: poi usciva e diceva ai figli d'Israele quello che gli era stato ordinato.
35 and the Israelites would see Moses' face radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his faceuntil he went in to speak to him next time.	35 I figli d'Israele, guardando il volto di Mosè, vedevano che la pelle del suo volto era raggiante. Poi Mosè rimetteva il velo sul suo volto, fino a quando entrava a parlare con lui.
