Exodus 34

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones and come up to me on themountain, and I wil write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.	1 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Talla dos tablas de piedra iguales a las primeras, y yo escribiré en ellas las mismas palabras que estaban escritas en las que tú rompiste.
2 Be ready at dawn; at dawn come up Mount Sinai and wait for me there at the top of the mountain.	2 Prepárate, además, para subir mañana temprano a la montaña del Sinaí, y después quédate allí, a mi disposición, en la cumbre de la montaña.
3 No one may come up with you, no one may be seen anywhere on the mountain; the flocks and herdsmay not even graze in front of this mountain.'	3 Que nadie suba contigo ni se haga ver en toda la extensión de la montaña, y que tampoco el ganado se detenga a pastar delante de ella.
4 So he cut two tablets of stone like the first and, with the two tablets of stone in his hands, Moses wentup Mount Sinai in the early morning as Yahweh had ordered.	4 Moisés talló dos tablas de piedra iguales a las primeras, y a la madrugada del día siguiente subió a la montaña del Sinaí, como el Señor se lo había ordenado, llevando las dos tablas en sus manos.
5 And Yahweh descended in a cloud and stood with him there and pronounced the name Yahweh.	5 El Señor descendió en la nube, y permaneció allí, junto a él. Moisés invocó el nombre del Señor.
6 Then Yahweh passed before him and cal ed out, 'Yahweh, Yahweh, God of tenderness andcompassion, slow to anger, rich in faithful love and constancy,	6 El Señor pasó delante de él y exclamó: «El Señor es un Dios compasivo y bondadoso, lento para enojarse, y pródigo en amor y fidelidad.
7 maintaining his faithful love to thousands, forgiving fault, crime and sin, yet letting nothing gounchecked, and punishing the parent's fault in the children and in the grandchildren to the third and fourthgeneration!'	7 El mantiene su amor a lo largo de mil generaciones y perdona la culpa, la rebeldía y el pecado; sin embargo, no los deja impunes, sino que castiga la culpa de los padres en los hijos y en los nietos, hasta la tercera y cuarta generación.
8 Moses immediately bowed to the ground in worship,	8 Moisés cayó de rodillas y se postró,
9 then he said, 'If indeed I do enjoy your favour, please, my Lord, come with us, although they are anobstinate people; and forgive our faults and sins, and adopt us as your heritage.'	9 diciendo: «Si realmente me has brindado tu amistad, dígnate, Señor, ir en medio de nosotros. Es verdad que este es un pueblo obstinado, pero perdona nuestra culpa y nuestro pecado, y conviértenos en tu herencia».
10 He then said, 'Look, I am now making a covenant: I shal work such wonders at the head of yourwhole people as have never been worked in any other country or nation, and all the people round you wil seewhat Yahweh can do, for what I shal do through you wil be awe-inspiring.	10 El Señor le respondió: Yo voy a establecer una alianza. A la vista de todo el pueblo, realizaré maravillas como nunca se han hecho en ningún país ni en ninguna nación. El pueblo que está contigo verá la obra del Señor, porque yo haré cosas tremendas por medio de ti.
11 Mark, then, what I command you today. I am going to drive out the Amorites, the Canaanites, theHittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites before you.	11 Observa bien lo que te mando. Yo expulsaré de tu presencia a los amorreos, los cananeos, los hititas, los perizitas, los jivitas y los jebuseos.
12 Take care you make no pact with the inhabitants of the country which you are about to enter, or theywil prove a snare in your community.	12 No hagas ningún pacto con los habitantes del país donde vas a entrar, porque ellos serían una trampa para ti.
13 You wil tear down their altars, smash their cultic stones and cut down their sacred poles,	13 Antes bien, derriben sus altares, destruyan sus piedras conmemorativas y talen sus postes sagrados.
14 for you wil worship no other god, since Yahweh's name is the Jealous One; he is a jealous God.	14 No te postrarás delante de ningún otro dios, porque el Señor se llama «Celoso»: él es un Dios celoso.
15 Make no pact with the inhabitants of the country or, when they prostitute themselves to their owngods and sacrifice to them, they wil invite you and you wil partake of their sacrifice,	15 No hagas ningún pacto con los habitantes de aquel país, no sea que cuando ellos se prostituyan con sus dioses y les ofrezcan sacrificios, te inviten también a ti y tengas que comer de las víctimas sacrificadas.
16 and then you wil choose wives for your sons from among their daughters, and their daughters,prostituting themselves to their own gods, wil induce your sons to prostitute themselves to their gods.	16 Tampoco tomes a sus hijas como esposas de tus hijos, porque cuando ellas se prostituyan con sus dioses, harán que también ellos se prostituyan.
17 'You wil not cast metal gods for yourself.	17 No te fabricarás dioses de metal fundido.
18 'You wil observe the feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days you wil eat unleavened bread, as Ihave commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in the month of Abib you came out ofEgypt.	18 Observarás la fiesta de los Acimos. Durante siete días comerás panes ácimos, como yo te lo he mandado; y lo harás en el tiempo señalado del mes de Abib, porque en ese mes saliste de Egipto.
19 'Al that first issues from the womb belongs to me: every male, every first-born of flock or herd.	19 Todos los primogénitos me pertenecen. Los primogénitos de tu ganado mayor y menor, si son machos, serán para mí.
20 But the first-born donkey you wil redeem with an animal from the flock; if you do not redeem it, youmust break its neck. Al the first-born of your sons you will redeem, and no one wil appear before me empty-handed.	20 Al primogénito del asno, en cambio, lo rescatarás con un cordero, y si no lo rescatas, deberás desnucarlo. También rescatarás a todos los primogénitos entre tus hijos. Y nadie se presentará delante de mí con las manos vacías.
21 'For six days you wil labour, but on the seventh day you wil rest; you wil stop work even duringploughing and harvesting.	21 Durante seis días trabajarás, pero el séptimo día deberás descansar, incluso en tiempo de siembra y de cosecha.
22 'You wil observe the feast of Weeks, of the first-fruits of the wheat harvest, and the feast ofIngathering at the close of the year.	22 Celebrarás también la fiesta de las Semanas, la de los primeros frutos de la cosecha del trigo y además, la fiesta de la Recolección, al término del año.
23 'Three times a year al your menfolk wil appear before Lord Yahweh, God of Israel,	23 Tres veces al año todos los varones se presentarán delante del Señor, el Dios de Israel.
24 for I shal dispossess the nations before you and extend your frontiers, and no one wil set his hearton your territory when you go away to appear before Yahweh your God three times a year.	24 Porque yo voy a desposeer a las naciones delante de ti y ensancharé tus fronteras, y cuando subas a presentarte ante el Señor, tu Dios, tres veces al año, nadie codiciará tu territorio.
25 'You wil not offer the blood of my sacrificial victim with leavened bread, nor is the victim offered atthe feast of Passover to be left until the fol owing day.	25 No ofrecerás nada fermentado junto con la sangre de la víctima sacrificada en mi honor, y no quedará para el día siguiente la víctima inmolada en la fiesta de la Pascua.
26 'You wil bring the best of the first-fruits of your soil to the house of Yahweh your God. 'You wil notboil a kid in its mother's milk.'	26 Llevarás a la casa del Señor, tu Dios, lo mejor de los primeros frutos de tu suelo. No harás cocer un cabrito en la leche de su madre.
27 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Put these words in writing, for they are the terms of the covenant whichI have made with you and with Israel.'	27 Después el Señor dijo a Moisés: consigna por escrito estas palabras, porque ellas son las cláusulas de la alianza que yo hago contigo y con Israel».
28 He stayed there with Yahweh for forty days and forty nights, eating and drinking nothing, and on thetablets he wrote the words of the covenant -- the Ten Words.	28 Moisés estuvo allí con el Señor cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, sin comer ni beber. Y escribió sobre las tablas las palabras de la alianza, es decir, los diez Mandamientos.
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, as hewas coming down the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face was radiant because he had beentalking to him.	29 Cuando Moisés bajó de la montaña del Sinaí, trayendo en sus manos las dos tablas del Testimonio, no sabía que su rostro se había vuelto radiante porque había hablado con el Señor.
30 And when Aaron and al the Israelites saw Moses, the skin on his face was so radiant that they wereafraid to go near him.	30 Al verlo, Aarón y todos los israelitas advirtieron que su rostro resplandecía, y tuvieron miedo de acercarse a él.
31 But Moses called to them, and Aaron and al the leaders of the community rejoined him, and Mosestalked to them,	31 Pero Moisés los llamó; entonces se acercaron Aarón y todos los jefes de la comunidad, y él les habló.
32 after which al the Israelites came closer, and he passed on to them al the orders that Yahweh hadgiven to him on Mount Sinai.	32 Después se acercaron también todos los israelitas, y él les transmitió las órdenes que el Señor le había dado en la montaña del Sinaí.
33 Once Moses had finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face.	33 Cuando Moisés terminó de hablarles, se cubrió el rostro con un velo.
34 Whenever Moses went into Yahweh's presence to speak with him, he took the veil off until he cameout. And when he came out, he would tel the Israelites what orders he had been given,	34 Y siempre que iba a presentarse delante del Señor para conversar con él, se quitaba el velo hasta que salía de la Carpa. Al salir, comunicaba a los israelitas lo que el Señor le había ordenado,
35 and the Israelites would see Moses' face radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his faceuntil he went in to speak to him next time.	35 y los israelitas veían que su rostro estaba radiante. Después Moisés volvía a poner el velo sobre su rostro, hasta que entraba de nuevo a conversar con el Señor.
