Exodus 34

1 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones and come up to me on themountain, and I wil write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.	1 Dijo Yahveh a Moisés. «Labra dos tablas de piedra como las primeras, sube donde mí, al monte y yo escribiré en las tablas las palabras que había en las primeras tablas que rompiste.
2 Be ready at dawn; at dawn come up Mount Sinai and wait for me there at the top of the mountain.	2 Prepárate para subir mañana temprano al monte Sinaí; allí en la cumbre del monte te presentarás a mí.
3 No one may come up with you, no one may be seen anywhere on the mountain; the flocks and herdsmay not even graze in front of this mountain.'	3 Que nadie suba contigo, ni aparezca nadie en todo el monte. Ni oveja ni buey paste en el monte.»
4 So he cut two tablets of stone like the first and, with the two tablets of stone in his hands, Moses wentup Mount Sinai in the early morning as Yahweh had ordered.	4 Labró Moisés dos tablas de piedra como las primeras y, levantándose de mañana, subió al monte Sinaí como le había mandado Yahveh, llevando en su mano las dos tablas de piedra.
5 And Yahweh descended in a cloud and stood with him there and pronounced the name Yahweh.	5 Descendió Yahveh en forma de nube y se puso allí junto a él. Moisés invocó el nombre de Yahveh.
6 Then Yahweh passed before him and cal ed out, 'Yahweh, Yahweh, God of tenderness andcompassion, slow to anger, rich in faithful love and constancy,	6 Yahveh pasó por delante de él y exclamó: «Yahveh, Yahveh, Dios misericordioso y clemente, tardo a la cólera y rico en amor y fidelidad,
7 maintaining his faithful love to thousands, forgiving fault, crime and sin, yet letting nothing gounchecked, and punishing the parent's fault in the children and in the grandchildren to the third and fourthgeneration!'	7 que mantiene su amor por millares, que perdona la iniquidad, la rebeldía y el pecado, pero no los deja impunes; que castiga la iniquidad de los padres en los hijos y en los hijos de los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación.»
8 Moses immediately bowed to the ground in worship,	8 Al instante, Moisés cayó en tierra de rodillas y se postró,
9 then he said, 'If indeed I do enjoy your favour, please, my Lord, come with us, although they are anobstinate people; and forgive our faults and sins, and adopt us as your heritage.'	9 diciendo: «Si en verdad he hallado gracia a tus ojos, oh Señor, dígnese mi Señor venir en medio de nosotros, aunque sea un pueblo de dura cerviz; perdona nuestra iniquidad y nuestro pecado, y recíbenos por herencia tuya.»
10 He then said, 'Look, I am now making a covenant: I shal work such wonders at the head of yourwhole people as have never been worked in any other country or nation, and all the people round you wil seewhat Yahweh can do, for what I shal do through you wil be awe-inspiring.	10 Respondió él: «Mira, voy a hacer una alianza; realizaré maravillas delante de todo tu pueblo, cono nunca se han hecho en toda la tierra ni en nación alguna; y todo el pueblo que te rodea verá la obra de Yahveh; porque he de hacer por medio de ti cosas que causen temor.
11 Mark, then, what I command you today. I am going to drive out the Amorites, the Canaanites, theHittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites before you.	11 Observa bien lo que hoy te mando. He aquí que voy a expulsar delante de ti al amorreo, al cananeo, al hitita, al perizita, al jivita y al jebuseo.
12 Take care you make no pact with the inhabitants of the country which you are about to enter, or theywil prove a snare in your community.	12 Guárdate de hacer pacto con los habitantes del país en que vas a entrar, para que no sean un lazo en medio de ti.
13 You wil tear down their altars, smash their cultic stones and cut down their sacred poles,	13 Al contrario, destruiréis sus altares, destrozaréis sus estelas y romperéis sus cipos.
14 for you wil worship no other god, since Yahweh's name is the Jealous One; he is a jealous God.	14 No te postrarás ante ningún otro dios, pues Yahveh se llama Celoso, es un Dios celoso.
15 Make no pact with the inhabitants of the country or, when they prostitute themselves to their owngods and sacrifice to them, they wil invite you and you wil partake of their sacrifice,	15 No hagas pacto con los moradores de aquella tierra, no sea que cuando se prostituyan tras sus dioses y les ofrezcan sacrificios, te inviten a ti y tú comas de sus sacrificios;
16 and then you wil choose wives for your sons from among their daughters, and their daughters,prostituting themselves to their own gods, wil induce your sons to prostitute themselves to their gods.	16 y no sea que tomes sus hijas para tus hijos, y que al prostituirse sus hijas tras sus dioses, hagan también que tus hijos se prostituyan tras los dioses de ellas.
17 'You wil not cast metal gods for yourself.	17 No te harás dioses de fundición.
18 'You wil observe the feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days you wil eat unleavened bread, as Ihave commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in the month of Abib you came out ofEgypt.	18 Guardarás la fiesta de los Ázimos; siete días comerás ázimos como te he mandado, al tiempo señalado, esto es, en el mes de Abib, pues en el mes de Abib saliste de Egipto.
19 'Al that first issues from the womb belongs to me: every male, every first-born of flock or herd.	19 Todo lo que abre el seno es mío, todo primer nacido, macho, sea de vaca o de oveja, es mío.
20 But the first-born donkey you wil redeem with an animal from the flock; if you do not redeem it, youmust break its neck. Al the first-born of your sons you will redeem, and no one wil appear before me empty-handed.	20 El primer nacido de asno lo rescatarás con una oveja; y si no lo rescatas, lo desnucarás. Rescatarás todos los primogénitos de tus hijos, y nadie se presentará ante mí con las manos vacías.
21 'For six days you wil labour, but on the seventh day you wil rest; you wil stop work even duringploughing and harvesting.	21 Seis días trabajarás, mas en el séptimo descansarás; descansarás en tiempo de siembra y siega.
22 'You wil observe the feast of Weeks, of the first-fruits of the wheat harvest, and the feast ofIngathering at the close of the year.	22 Celebrarás la fiesta de las Semanas: la de las primicias de la siega del trigo, y también la fiesta de la recolección al final del año.
23 'Three times a year al your menfolk wil appear before Lord Yahweh, God of Israel,	23 Tres veces al año se presentarán todos tus varones ante Yahveh, el Señor, el Dios de Israel.
24 for I shal dispossess the nations before you and extend your frontiers, and no one wil set his hearton your territory when you go away to appear before Yahweh your God three times a year.	24 Pues cuando yo expulse a los pueblos delante de ti y ensanche tus fronteras, nadie codiciará tu tierra cuando tres veces al año subas a presentarte ante Yahveh, tu Dios.
25 'You wil not offer the blood of my sacrificial victim with leavened bread, nor is the victim offered atthe feast of Passover to be left until the fol owing day.	25 No inmolarás con pan fermentado la sangre de mi sacrificio, ni quedará hasta el día siguiente la víctima de la fiesta de Pascua.
26 'You wil bring the best of the first-fruits of your soil to the house of Yahweh your God. 'You wil notboil a kid in its mother's milk.'	26 Llevarás a la casa de Yahveh, tu Dios, lo mejor de las primicias de los frutos de tu suelo. No cocerás el cabrito en la leche de su madre.»
27 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Put these words in writing, for they are the terms of the covenant whichI have made with you and with Israel.'	27 Dijo Yahveh a Moisés: «Consigna por escrito estas palabras, pues a tenor de ellas hago alianza contigo y con Israel.»
28 He stayed there with Yahweh for forty days and forty nights, eating and drinking nothing, and on thetablets he wrote the words of the covenant -- the Ten Words.	28 Moisés estuvo allí con Yahveh cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, sin comer pan ni beber agua. Y escribió en las tablas las palabras de la alianza, las diez palabras.
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, as hewas coming down the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face was radiant because he had beentalking to him.	29 Luego, bajó Moisés del monte Sinaí y, cuando bajó del monte con las dos tablas del Testimonio en su mano, no sabía que la piel de su rostro se había vuelto radiante, por haber hablado con él.
30 And when Aaron and al the Israelites saw Moses, the skin on his face was so radiant that they wereafraid to go near him.	30 Aarón y todos los israelitas miraron a Moisés, y al ver que la piel de su rostro irradiaba, temían acercarse a él.
31 But Moses called to them, and Aaron and al the leaders of the community rejoined him, and Mosestalked to them,	31 Moisés los llamó. Aarón y todos los jefes de la comunidad se volvieron a él y Moisés habló con ellos.
32 after which al the Israelites came closer, and he passed on to them al the orders that Yahweh hadgiven to him on Mount Sinai.	32 Se acercaron a continuación todos los israelitas y él les conminó cuanto Yahveh le había dicho en el monte Sinaí.
33 Once Moses had finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face.	33 Cuando Moisés acabó de hablar con ellos, se puso un velo sobre el rostro.
34 Whenever Moses went into Yahweh's presence to speak with him, he took the veil off until he cameout. And when he came out, he would tel the Israelites what orders he had been given,	34 Siempre que Moisés se presentaba delante de Yahveh para hablar con él, se quitaba el velo hasta que salía, y al salir decía a los israelitas lo que Yahveh había ordenado.
35 and the Israelites would see Moses' face radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his faceuntil he went in to speak to him next time.	35 Los israelitas veían entonces que el rostro de Moisés irradiaba, y Moisés cubría de nuevo su rostro hasta que entraba a hablar con Yahveh.
