1 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones and come up to me on themountain, and I wil write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.	1 Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Taille-toi deux tables en pierre comme les premières, et j’écrirai sur les tables les paroles qui étaient gravées sur celles que tu as brisées.
2 Be ready at dawn; at dawn come up Mount Sinai and wait for me there at the top of the mountain.	2 “Préparez-vous pour demain, et toi dès le matin tu graviras le mont Sinaï, où tu m’attendras au sommet de la montagne.
3 No one may come up with you, no one may be seen anywhere on the mountain; the flocks and herdsmay not even graze in front of this mountain.'	3 Personne ne viendra avec toi, et qu’on ne voie personne sur toute la montagne. Ne laissez pas vos brebis et vos bêtes paître au pied de la montagne.”
4 So he cut two tablets of stone like the first and, with the two tablets of stone in his hands, Moses wentup Mount Sinai in the early morning as Yahweh had ordered.	4 Moïse tailla donc deux tables de pierre semblables aux premières. Il se leva de bon matin et gravit le mont Sinaï selon l’ordre de Yahvé; il avait en main les deux tables de pierre.
5 And Yahweh descended in a cloud and stood with him there and pronounced the name Yahweh.	5 Alors Yahvé descendit au milieu de la nuée et se tint près de lui. Moïse invoqua le nom de Yahvé,
6 Then Yahweh passed before him and cal ed out, 'Yahweh, Yahweh, God of tenderness andcompassion, slow to anger, rich in faithful love and constancy,	6 et Yahvé passa devant lui en disant d’une voix forte: “Yahvé! Yahvé! Dieu de tendresse et de miséricorde! Il est lent à la colère, très généreux dans ses faveurs et sa fidélité.
7 maintaining his faithful love to thousands, forgiving fault, crime and sin, yet letting nothing gounchecked, and punishing the parent's fault in the children and in the grandchildren to the third and fourthgeneration!'	7 Il maintient ses faveurs pour mille générations; il supporte fautes, révoltes et péchés, mais il ne laisse pas passer la faute: il réclame la dette des pères à leurs fils et aux fils de leurs fils, jusqu’à la troisième et la quatrième génération.”
8 Moses immediately bowed to the ground in worship,	8 Moïse aussitôt s’agenouilla et se prosterna.
9 then he said, 'If indeed I do enjoy your favour, please, my Lord, come with us, although they are anobstinate people; and forgive our faults and sins, and adopt us as your heritage.'	9 Puis il dit: “Mon Seigneur! Si j’ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, que Mon Seigneur accepte de marcher au milieu de nous. Nous sommes un peuple à la nuque raide, mais tu pardonneras notre faute, notre péché et tu feras de nous ton héritage.”
10 He then said, 'Look, I am now making a covenant: I shal work such wonders at the head of yourwhole people as have never been worked in any other country or nation, and all the people round you wil seewhat Yahweh can do, for what I shal do through you wil be awe-inspiring.	10 Yahvé dit: “Je prends un engagement: je ferai devant tout ton peuple des merveilles comme on n’en a jamais vu sur terre et dans aucune nation. Tout le peuple au milieu duquel tu vis verra l’œuvre de Yahvé, car ce sont des choses grandioses que j’accomplirai avec toi.
11 Mark, then, what I command you today. I am going to drive out the Amorites, the Canaanites, theHittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites before you.	11 Observe tout ce que je te commande aujourd’hui, et moi je chasserai devant toi l’Amorite, le Cananéen, le Hittite, le Périsite, le Hivvite et le Jébusite.
12 Take care you make no pact with the inhabitants of the country which you are about to enter, or theywil prove a snare in your community.	12 Fais attention à ne pas conclure d’alliance avec les habitants du pays dans lequel tu entreras: ils seraient vite un piège pour toi.
13 You wil tear down their altars, smash their cultic stones and cut down their sacred poles,	13 Vous renverserez leurs autels, vous briserez leurs pierres sacrées et vous mettrez en pièces leurs idoles.
14 for you wil worship no other god, since Yahweh's name is the Jealous One; he is a jealous God.	14 Tu ne te prosterneras pas devant un autre dieu, car Yahvé s’appelle: le Jaloux. Oui, il est un Dieu jaloux!
15 Make no pact with the inhabitants of the country or, when they prostitute themselves to their owngods and sacrifice to them, they wil invite you and you wil partake of their sacrifice,	15 Tu ne feras pas d’alliance avec les habitants du pays, qui se prostituent avec leurs dieux et leur offrent des sacrifices. Il ne faut pas qu’ils t’invitent et que tu manges avec eux de leurs sacrifices;
16 and then you wil choose wives for your sons from among their daughters, and their daughters,prostituting themselves to their own gods, wil induce your sons to prostitute themselves to their gods.	16 tu ne prendras pas leurs filles pour tes fils, car leurs filles, qui se prostituent avec leurs dieux, entraîneraient tes fils à faire comme elles.
17 'You wil not cast metal gods for yourself.	17 Tu ne feras pas de dieu en métal fondu.
18 'You wil observe the feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days you wil eat unleavened bread, as Ihave commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in the month of Abib you came out ofEgypt.	18 Tu observeras la fête des pains sans levain. Durant sept jours, à la date fixée du mois d’Abib, tu mangeras du pain sans levain comme je te l’ai commandé; car c’est au mois d’Abib que tu es sorti d’Égypte.
19 'Al that first issues from the womb belongs to me: every male, every first-born of flock or herd.	19 Tout premier-né est à moi, ainsi que le premier-né de la vache ou de la brebis.
20 But the first-born donkey you wil redeem with an animal from the flock; if you do not redeem it, youmust break its neck. Al the first-born of your sons you will redeem, and no one wil appear before me empty-handed.	20 Tu rachèteras le premier-né de l’âne au prix d’un agneau et, si tu ne le rachètes pas, tu lui briseras la nuque. Tu rachèteras tout premier-né parmi tes fils. On ne se présentera pas devant moi les mains vides.
21 'For six days you wil labour, but on the seventh day you wil rest; you wil stop work even duringploughing and harvesting.	21 Tu travailleras pendant six jours, mais le septième jour tu te reposeras, même à la période des labours ou de la moisson.
22 'You wil observe the feast of Weeks, of the first-fruits of the wheat harvest, and the feast ofIngathering at the close of the year.	22 Tu célébreras en mon honneur la fête des Semaines: tu offriras alors les premières gerbes de blé de ta moisson. Tu célébreras aussi la fête de la récolte à la fin de l’année.
23 'Three times a year al your menfolk wil appear before Lord Yahweh, God of Israel,	23 Trois fois par an, tous les mâles de ton peuple se présenteront devant le Seigneur Yahvé, le Dieu d’Israël.
24 for I shal dispossess the nations before you and extend your frontiers, and no one wil set his hearton your territory when you go away to appear before Yahweh your God three times a year.	24 Car je vais chasser devant toi les nations et je repousserai tes frontières. Personne ne cherchera à te prendre ta terre tant que tu monteras trois fois l’an pour te présenter devant Yahvé ton Dieu.
25 'You wil not offer the blood of my sacrificial victim with leavened bread, nor is the victim offered atthe feast of Passover to be left until the fol owing day.	25 Tu n’offriras pas le sang des sacrifices avec du pain levé. Quant au sacrifice de la fête de la Pâque, tu n’en garderas rien jusqu’au lendemain matin.
26 'You wil bring the best of the first-fruits of your soil to the house of Yahweh your God. 'You wil notboil a kid in its mother's milk.'	26 Tu présenteras à la Maison de Yahvé ton Dieu les premiers fruits de ton sol. Tu ne feras pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.”
27 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Put these words in writing, for they are the terms of the covenant whichI have made with you and with Israel.'	27 Alors Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Écris toutes ces paroles, car c’est le contenu de l’Alliance que j’ai faite avec toi et avec Israël.”
28 He stayed there with Yahweh for forty days and forty nights, eating and drinking nothing, and on thetablets he wrote the words of the covenant -- the Ten Words.	28 Moïse resta là avec Yahvé quarante jours et quarante nuits, sans manger de pain et sans boire d’eau. Il écrivit sur les tables toutes les paroles de l’Alliance, les Dix Paroles.
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, as hewas coming down the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face was radiant because he had beentalking to him.	29 Moïse redescendit de la montagne du Sinaï avec, dans sa main, les deux tables du Témoignage. Mais quand il descendit de la montagne, Moïse ne savait pas que la peau de son visage était rayonnante de lumière: il avait parlé avec Dieu!
30 And when Aaron and al the Israelites saw Moses, the skin on his face was so radiant that they wereafraid to go near him.	30 Lorsque Aaron et tous les Israélites virent Moïse et son visage rayonnant de lumière, ils n’osèrent pas l’approcher.
31 But Moses called to them, and Aaron and al the leaders of the community rejoined him, and Mosestalked to them,	31 Mais Moïse les appela. Alors Aaron et tous les chefs de la communauté s’approchèrent de lui et Moïse leur parla.
32 after which al the Israelites came closer, and he passed on to them al the orders that Yahweh hadgiven to him on Mount Sinai.	32 Puis tous les Israélites s’approchèrent à leur tour et Moïse leur transmit tous les ordres que Yahvé avait donnés sur le mont Sinaï.
33 Once Moses had finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face.	33 Lorsque Moïse eut fini de parler, il se voila le visage.
34 Whenever Moses went into Yahweh's presence to speak with him, he took the veil off until he cameout. And when he came out, he would tel the Israelites what orders he had been given,	34 Chaque fois que Moïse se présentait devant Yahvé pour parler avec lui, il ôtait son voile jusqu’au moment où il se retirait. Alors il venait dire aux Israélites ce qui lui avait été commandé.
35 and the Israelites would see Moses' face radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his faceuntil he went in to speak to him next time.	35 Les Israélites voyaient le visage de Moïse rayonnant de lumière. Mais Moïse remettait le voile sur son visage jusqu’au moment où il se présentait de nouveau pour parler avec Dieu
