1 'These are the laws you must give them:	1 "Estas são as leis que exporás {aos israelitas}:
2 'When you buy a Hebrew slave, his service will last for six years. In the seventh year he wil leave afree man without paying compensation.	2 quando comprares um escravo hebreu, ele servirá seis anos; no sétimo sairá livre, sem pagar nada.
3 If he came single, he wil depart single; if he came married, his wife wil depart with him.	3 Se entrou sozinho, sozinho sairá; se tiver mulher, sua mulher partirá com ele.
4 If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children wilbelong to her master, and he wil depart alone.	4 Mas, se foi o seu senhor que lhe deu uma mulher, e esta deu à luz filhos e filhas, a mulher e seus filhos serão propriedade do senhor, e ele partirá sozinho.
5 But if the slave says, "I love my master and my wife and children; I do not wish to be freed,"	5 Porém, se o escravo disser: ?Eu amo meu senhor, minha mulher e meus filhos; não quero ser alforriado?,
6 then his master wil bring him before God and then, leading him to the door or the doorpost, his masterwil pierce his ear with an awl, and the slave wil be permanently his.	6 seu senhor o levará então diante de Deus e o fará aproximar-se do batente ou da ombreira da porta, e furar-lhe-á a orelha com uma sovela; desta sorte o escravo estará para sempre a seu serviço.
7 If a man sel s his daughter as a slave, she wil not leave as male slaves do.	7 Se um homem tiver vendido sua filha para ser escrava, ela não sairá em liberdade nas mesmas condições que o escravo.
8 If she does not please her master who intended her for himself, he must let her be bought back: hehas not the right to sell her to foreigners, for this would be a breach of faith with her.	8 Se desagradar ao seu senhor, que a havia destinado para si, ele a fará resgatar; mas não poderá vendê-la a estrangeiros depois de lhe ter sido infiel.
9 If he intends her for his son, he must treat her as custom requires daughters to be treated.	9 Se a destinar ao seu filho, tratá-la-á segundo o direito das filhas.
10 If he takes another wife, he must not reduce the food, clothing or conjugal rights of the first one.	10 Se tomar outra mulher, não diminuirá nada à primeira, quanto à alimentação, aos vestidos e ao direito conjugal.
11 Should he deprive her of these three things she wil leave a free woman, without payingcompensation.	11 Se lhe recusar uma destas três coisas, ela poderá partir livre, gratuitamente, sem pagar nada."
12 'Anyone who by violence causes a death must be put to death.	12 "Aquele que ferir mortalmente um homem, será morto.
13 If, however, he has not planned to do it but it comes from God by his hand, he can take refuge in aplace which I shal appoint for you.	13 Porém, se nada premeditou, e Deus o fez cair em suas mãos, eu lhe fixarei um lugar onde possa refugiar-se.
14 But should any person dare to kill another with deliberate planning, you wil take that person evenfrom my altar to be put to death.	14 Mas, se alguém, por maldade, armar ciladas para matar o seu próximo, tirá-lo-ás até mesmo do meu altar, para matá-lo.
15 'Anyone who strikes father or mother wil be put to death.	15 Aquele que ferir seu pai ou sua mãe, será morto.
16 Anyone who abducts a person -- whether that person has since been sold or is stil held -- wil be putto death.	16 Aquele que furtar um homem, e o tiver vendido, ou se este for encontrado em suas mãos, será morto.
17 Anyone who curses father or mother will be put to death.	17 Quem amaldiçoar seu pai ou sua mãe, será punido de morte.
18 'If people quarrel and one strikes the other a blow with stone or fist so that the injured party, thoughnot dead, is confined to bed,	18 Quando, em uma contenda entre dois homens, um dos dois ferir o outro com uma pedra ou com o punho, sem matá-lo, mas o obrigar a ficar de cama,
19 but later recovers and can go about, even with a stick, the one who struck the blow wil have noliability, other than to compensate the injured party for the enforced inactivity and to take care of the injured partyuntil the cure is complete.	19 aquele que feriu não será punido, se o outro se levantar e puder passear fora com seu bastão. Mas indenizá-lo-á pelo tempo que perdeu e os remédios que gastou.
20 'If someone beats his slave, male or female, and the slave dies at his hands, he must pay thepenalty.	20 Se um homem ferir seu escravo ou sua escrava com um bastão, de modo que ele morra sob sua mão, será punido.
21 But should the slave survive for one or two days, he will pay no penalty because the slave is his byright of purchase.	21 Se o escravo, porém, sobreviver um dia ou dois, não será punido, porque ele é propriedade do seu senhor.
22 'If people, when brawling, hurt a pregnant woman and she suffers a miscarriage but no further harmis done, the person responsible wil pay compensation as fixed by the woman's master, paying as much as thejudges decide.	22 Se homens brigarem, e acontecer que venham a ferir uma mulher grávida, e esta der à luz sem nenhum dano, eles serão passíveis de uma indenização imposta pelo marido da mulher, e que pagarão diante dos juízes.
23 If further harm is done, however, you wil award life for life,	23 Mas, se houver outros danos, urge dar vida por vida,
24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,	24 olho por olho, dente por dente, mão por mão, pé por pé,
25 burn for burn, wound for wound, stroke for stroke.	25 queimadura por queimadura, ferida por ferida, golpe por golpe.
26 'If anyone strikes the eye of his slave, male or female, and destroys the use of it, he wil give theslave his freedom to compensate for the eye.	26 Se um homem, ferindo seu escravo ou sua escrava, atinge-lhe o olho e o faz perdê-lo, deixá-lo-á ir livre em compensação de seu olho.
27 If he knocks out the tooth of his slave, male or female, he wil give the slave his freedom tocompensate for the tooth.	27 E, se lhe deitar fora um dente, deixá-lo-á ir livre em compensação do dente.
28 'If an ox gores a man or woman to death, the ox wil be stoned and its meat wil not be eaten, but theowner of the ox wil not be liable.	28 Se um boi ferir mortalmente um homem ou uma mulher com as pontas dos chifres, será apedrejado e não se comerá a sua carne; mas o dono do boi não será punido.
29 But if the ox has been in the habit of goring before, and if its owner has been warned but has not keptit under control, then should this ox kil a man or woman, it wil be stoned and its owner put to death.	29 Porém, se o boi era já acostumado a dar chifradas, e o dono, tendo sido avisado, não o vigiou, o boi será apedrejado, se matar um homem ou uma mulher, e seu dono também morrerá.
30 If a ransom is imposed on the owner, he wil pay whatever is imposed, to redeem his life.	30 Se, para resgatar sua vida, lhe for imposta uma quitação, ele deverá dar todo o preço que lhe tiver sido imposto.
31 If the ox gores a boy or a girl, it will be treated in accordance with this same rule.	31 Se o boi ferir um filho ou uma filha, aplicar-se-á a mesma lei.
32 If the ox gores a slave, male or female, its owner will pay the price -- thirty shekels -- to their master,and the ox will be stoned.	32 Mas, se ferir um escravo ou uma escrava, pagar-se-á ao seu senhor trinta siclos de prata, e o boi será apedrejado.
33 'If anyone leaves a pit uncovered, or digs a pit and does not cover it, and an ox, or donkey fal s into it,	33 Se alguém deixar uma cisterna aberta ou cavar uma sem cobri-la, e nela cair um boi ou um jumento, o proprietário da cisterna pagará uma indenização:
34 then the owner of the pit will make good the loss by compensating its owner, and the dead animal willbe his.	34 reembolsará em dinheiro o proprietário do animal morto, e este será seu.
35 If anyone's ox injures anyone else's ox causing its death, the owners wil sel and share the moneyfor it; they will also share the dead animal.	35 Se o boi de alguém der uma chifrada no boi de um outro, e este vier a morrer, venderão o boi vivo e repartirão o valor: repartirão igualmente o boi morto.
36 But if it is common knowledge that the ox has been in the habit of goring before, and its owner hasnot kept it under control, the owner wil repay ox for ox, and wil keep the dead animal.	36 Mas, se o boi era já acostumado a dar chifradas, seu dono, que não o vigiou, pagará boi por boi, e receberá o animal morto."
37 'If anyone steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters or sel s it, he wil pay back five beasts from theherd for the ox, and four animals from the flock for the sheep.'
