Exodus 20

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Then God spoke al these words. He said,	1 - Ed il Signore disse tutte le seguenti parole:
2 'I am Yahweh your God who brought you out of Egypt, where you lived as slaves.	2 «Io sono il Signore Dio tuo che t'ho cavato dalla terra d'Egitto, dal luogo di schiavitù.
3 'You shal have no other gods to rival me.	3 Non avrai dèi stranieri al mio cospetto.
4 'You shal not make yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything in heaven above or on earthbeneath or in the waters under the earth.	4 Non ti farai scultura nè immagine alcuna, di ciò che è nel cielo in alto, o nella terra in basso, né di quello che sta nell'acque sotterra.
5 'You shal not bow down to them or serve them. For I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God and Ipunish a parent's fault in the children, the grandchildren, and the great-grandchildren among those who hate me;	5 Non le adorerai, nè presterai ad esse un culto; perchè io sono il Signore Dio tuo, forte, geloso, che visito l'iniquità dei padri nei figli, sino alla terza e quarta generazione di quelli che m'offendono,
6 but I act with faithful love towards thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.	6 e faccio misericordia per migliaia [di generazioni] a quelli che mi amano, ed osservano i miei comandamenti.
7 'You shal not misuse the name of Yahweh your God, for Yahweh wil not leave unpunished anyonewho misuses his name.	7 Non userai in vano il nome del Signore Dio tuo; perché il Signore non considererà senza colpa colui che avrà usato inutilmente il nome del Signore Dio suo.
8 'Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.	8 Ricordati di santificare il giorno del sabato.
9 For six days you shal labour and do al your work,	9 Per sei giorni lavorerai, ed attenderai a tutte le tue opere.
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath for Yahweh your God. You shal do no work that day, neither younor your son nor your daughter nor your servants, men or women, nor your animals nor the alien living with you.	10 Ma il settimo giorno è il sabato del Signore Dio tuo; in esso non farai alcun lavoro, il tuo figlio, la tua figlia, il tuo servo, la tua ancella, il tuo giumento, ed il forestiero che si trova fra le tue porte.
11 For in six days Yahweh made the heavens, earth and sea and al that these contain, but on theseventh day he rested; that is why Yahweh has blessed the Sabbath day and made it sacred.	11 In sei giorni infatti il Signore fece il cielo, la terra, il mare e tutto ciò che è in essi, e nel settimo giorno si riposò; per questo, benedisse il Signore il giorno del sabato, e lo dichiarò santo.
12 'Honour your father and your mother so that you may live long in the land that Yahweh your God isgiving you.	12 Onora il padre tuo e la madre tua, acciò tu viva lungamente sulla terra che il Signore Dio tuo ti darà.
13 'You shal not kil .	13 Non ammazzare.
14 'You shal not commit adultery.	14 Non commettere adulterio.
15 'You shal not steal.	15 Non rubare.
16 'You shal not give false evidence against your neighbour.	16 Non dire falsa testimonianza contro il tuo prossimo.
17 'You shal not set your heart on your neighbour's house. You shal not set your heart on yourneighbour's spouse, or servant, man or woman, or ox, or donkey, or any of your neighbour's possessions.'	17 Non desiderare la casa del prossimo tuo; non desiderare la moglie di lui, nè il servo, nè l'ancella, nè il bove, nè l'asino, nè cosa alcuna che è sua».
18 Seeing the thunder pealing, the lightning flashing, the trumpet blasting and the mountain smoking,the people were al terrified and kept their distance.	18 Tutto il popolo vedeva i lampi, ed il monte che fumava, udiva i tuoni ed il suono di tromba; atterriti e pieni di spavento, stettero lontani,
19 'Speak to us yourself,' they said to Moses, 'and we wil obey; but do not let God speak to us, or weshall die.'	19 dicendo a Mosè: «Parlaci tu, e ti ascolteremo; non ci parli il Signore, che non abbiamo a morirne».
20 Moses said to the people, 'Do not be afraid; God has come to test you, so that your fear of him, beingalways in your mind, may keep you from sinning.'	20 E Mosè disse al popolo: «Non temete. Il Signore è venuto per mettervi a prova, perchè voi non abbiate il suo timore, e non pecchiate».
21 So the people kept their distance while Moses approached the dark cloud where God was.	21 Ed il popolo stette in distanza. Mosè poi tornò alla nube ov'era Dio.
22 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Tel the Israelites this, "You have seen for yourselves how I have spoken toyou from heaven.	22 E Dio disse a Mosè: «Cosi dirai ai figli d'Israele: - Voi avete veduto come v'ho parlato dal cielo.
23 You must not make gods of silver to rival me, nor must you make yourselves gods of gold.	23 Non vi farete dèi d'argento, nè vi farete dèi d'oro.
24 "You must make me an altar of earth on which to sacrifice your burnt offerings and communionsacrifices, your sheep and cattle. Wherever I choose to have my name remembered, I shal come to you andbless you.	24 Mi farete un altare di terra, e su quello m'offrirete i vostri olocausti ed ostie di pace, pecore e bovi, in ogni luogo ove sarà fatta memoria del mio nome; verrò a te, e ti benedirò.
25 If you make me an altar of stone, do not build it of dressed stones; for if you use a chisel on it, youwil profane it.	25 Che se mi farai un altare di pietra, non lo farai di pietre tagliate; perché se tu alzerai il ferro su di esso, sarà contaminato.
26 You must not go up to my altar by steps, in case you expose your nakedness on them." '	26 Non salirai per gradini al mio altare, acciò non si scuopra la tua nudità. -
