Exodus 20

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Then God spoke al these words. He said,	1 ALLORA Iddio pronunziò tutte queste parole, dicendo:
2 'I am Yahweh your God who brought you out of Egypt, where you lived as slaves.	2 Io sono il Signore Iddio tuo, che ti ho tratto fuor del paese di Egitto, della casa di servitù.
3 'You shal have no other gods to rival me.	3 Non avere altri dii nel mio cospetto.
4 'You shal not make yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything in heaven above or on earthbeneath or in the waters under the earth.	4 Non farti scultura alcuna, nè immagine alcuna di cosa che sia in cielo di sopra, nè di cosa che sia in terra di sotto, nè di cosa che sia nell’acque di sotto alla terra.
5 'You shal not bow down to them or serve them. For I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God and Ipunish a parent's fault in the children, the grandchildren, and the great-grandchildren among those who hate me;	5 Non adorar quelle cose, e non servir loro; perciocchè io, il Signore Iddio tuo, son Dio geloso, che visito l’iniquità de’ padri sopra i figliuoli fino alla terza e alla quarta generazione di coloro che m’odiano.
6 but I act with faithful love towards thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.	6 Ed uso benignità in mille generazioni verso coloro che mi amano, e osservano i miei comandamenti.
7 'You shal not misuse the name of Yahweh your God, for Yahweh wil not leave unpunished anyonewho misuses his name.	7 Non usare il Nome del Signore Iddio tuo in vano; perciocchè il Signore non terrà innocente chi avrà usato il suo Nome in vano.
8 'Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.	8 Ricordati del giorno del riposo, per santificarlo.
9 For six days you shal labour and do al your work,	9 Lavora sei giorni, e fa’ in essi ogni opera tua.
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath for Yahweh your God. You shal do no work that day, neither younor your son nor your daughter nor your servants, men or women, nor your animals nor the alien living with you.	10 Ma il settimo giorno è il riposo al Signore Iddio tuo; non fare in esso lavoro alcuno, nè tu, nè il tuo figliuolo, nè la tua figliuola, nè il tuo servo, nè la tua serva, nè il tuo bestiame, nè il tuo forestiere ch’è dentro alle tue porte.
11 For in six days Yahweh made the heavens, earth and sea and al that these contain, but on theseventh day he rested; that is why Yahweh has blessed the Sabbath day and made it sacred.	11 Perciocchè in sei giorni il Signore fece il cielo e la terra, e il mare, e tutto ciò ch’è in essi, e si riposò al settimo giorno; perciò, il Signore ha benedetto il giorno del riposo e l’ha santificato
12 'Honour your father and your mother so that you may live long in the land that Yahweh your God isgiving you.	12 Onora tuo padre e tua madre; acciocchè i tuoi giorni sieno prolungati sopra la terra, la quale il Signore Iddio tuo ti dà.
13 'You shal not kil .	13 Non uccidere.
14 'You shal not commit adultery.	14 Non commettere adulterio.
15 'You shal not steal.	15 Non furare.
16 'You shal not give false evidence against your neighbour.	16 Non dir falsa testimonianza contro al tuo prossimo.
17 'You shal not set your heart on your neighbour's house. You shal not set your heart on yourneighbour's spouse, or servant, man or woman, or ox, or donkey, or any of your neighbour's possessions.'	17 Non concupire la casa del tuo prossimo; non concupir la moglie del tuo prossimo; nè il suo servo, nè la sua serva, nè il suo bue, nè il suo asino, nè cosa alcuna che sia del tuo prossimo
18 Seeing the thunder pealing, the lightning flashing, the trumpet blasting and the mountain smoking,the people were al terrified and kept their distance.	18 Or tutto il popolo vedeva i tuoni, e i lampi, e il suon della tromba, e il monte fumante; e veggendo queste cose, tremava, e se ne stava lungi;
19 'Speak to us yourself,' they said to Moses, 'and we wil obey; but do not let God speak to us, or weshall die.'	19 e disse a Mosè: Parla tu con noi, e noi ascolteremo; e non parli Iddio con noi, chè talora noi non muoiamo.
20 Moses said to the people, 'Do not be afraid; God has come to test you, so that your fear of him, beingalways in your mind, may keep you from sinning.'	20 E Mosè disse al popolo: Non temiate; perciocchè Iddio è venuto per provarvi, e affinchè il suo timore sia davanti agli occhi vostri, acciocchè non pecchiate.
21 So the people kept their distance while Moses approached the dark cloud where God was.	21 Il popolo adunque si fermò da lungi; e Mosè si accostò alla caligine; nella quale Iddio era
22 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Tel the Israelites this, "You have seen for yourselves how I have spoken toyou from heaven.	22 E il Signore disse a Mosè: Di’ così a’ figliuoli d’Israele: Voi avete veduto che io ho parlato a voi dal cielo.
23 You must not make gods of silver to rival me, nor must you make yourselves gods of gold.	23 Non fate alcun dio meco; non vi fate dii di argento, nè dii d’oro.
24 "You must make me an altar of earth on which to sacrifice your burnt offerings and communionsacrifices, your sheep and cattle. Wherever I choose to have my name remembered, I shal come to you andbless you.	24 Fammi un altar di terra, e sacrifica sopra esso i tuoi olocausti, e i tuoi sacrificii da render grazie, le tue pecore, e i tuoi buoi; in qualunque luogo io farò ricordare il mio Nome, io verrò a te, e ti benedirò.
25 If you make me an altar of stone, do not build it of dressed stones; for if you use a chisel on it, youwil profane it.	25 E se pur tu mi fai un altar di pietre, non fabbricarlo di pietre conce a scarpello; quando tu vi avrai fatto passar lo scarpello sopra, tu l’avrai contaminate.
26 You must not go up to my altar by steps, in case you expose your nakedness on them." '	26 E non salir per gradi al mio altare; acciocchè non si scuopra la tua nudità sopra esso
