Exodus 20

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Then God spoke al these words. He said,	1 Dieu prononça toutes ces paroles, et dit:
2 'I am Yahweh your God who brought you out of Egypt, where you lived as slaves.	2 "Je suis Yahvé, ton Dieu, qui t'a fait sortir du pays d'Egypte, de la maison de servitude.
3 'You shal have no other gods to rival me.	3 Tu n'auras pas d'autres dieux devant moi.
4 'You shal not make yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything in heaven above or on earthbeneath or in the waters under the earth.	4 Tu ne te feras aucune image sculptée, rien qui ressemble à ce qui est dans les cieux, là-haut, ou surla terre, ici-bas, ou dans les eaux, au-dessous de la terre.
5 'You shal not bow down to them or serve them. For I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God and Ipunish a parent's fault in the children, the grandchildren, and the great-grandchildren among those who hate me;	5 Tu ne te prosterneras pas devant ces dieux et tu ne les serviras pas, car moi Yahvé, ton Dieu, je suisun Dieu jaloux qui punis la faute des pères sur les enfants, les petits-enfants et les arrière-petits-enfants pourceux qui me haïssent,
6 but I act with faithful love towards thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.	6 mais qui fais grâce à des milliers pour ceux qui m'aiment et gardent mes commandements.
7 'You shal not misuse the name of Yahweh your God, for Yahweh wil not leave unpunished anyonewho misuses his name.	7 Tu ne prononceras pas le nom de Yahvé ton Dieu à faux, car Yahvé ne laisse pas impuni celui quiprononce son nom à faux.
8 'Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.	8 Tu te souviendras du jour du sabbat pour le sanctifier.
9 For six days you shal labour and do al your work,	9 Pendant six jours tu travailleras et tu feras tout ton ouvrage;
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath for Yahweh your God. You shal do no work that day, neither younor your son nor your daughter nor your servants, men or women, nor your animals nor the alien living with you.	10 mais le septième jour est un sabbat pour Yahvé ton Dieu. Tu ne feras aucun ouvrage, toi, ni tonfils, ni ta fille, ni ton serviteur, ni ta servante, ni tes bêtes, ni l'étranger qui est dans tes portes.
11 For in six days Yahweh made the heavens, earth and sea and al that these contain, but on theseventh day he rested; that is why Yahweh has blessed the Sabbath day and made it sacred.	11 Car en six jours Yahvé a fait le ciel, la terre, la mer et tout ce qu'ils contiennent, mais il s'est reposéle septième jour, c'est pourquoi Yahvé a béni le jour du sabbat et l'a consacré.
12 'Honour your father and your mother so that you may live long in the land that Yahweh your God isgiving you.	12 Honore ton père et ta mère, afin que se prolongent tes jours sur la terre que te donne Yahvé tonDieu.
13 'You shal not kil .	13 Tu ne tueras pas.
14 'You shal not commit adultery.	14 Tu ne commettras pas d'adultère.
15 'You shal not steal.	15 Tu ne voleras pas.
16 'You shal not give false evidence against your neighbour.	16 Tu ne porteras pas de témoignage mensonger contre ton prochain.
17 'You shal not set your heart on your neighbour's house. You shal not set your heart on yourneighbour's spouse, or servant, man or woman, or ox, or donkey, or any of your neighbour's possessions.'	17 Tu ne convoiteras pas la maison de ton prochain. Tu ne convoiteras pas la femme de ton prochain,ni son serviteur, ni sa servante, ni son boeuf, ni son âne, rien de ce qui est à ton prochain."
18 Seeing the thunder pealing, the lightning flashing, the trumpet blasting and the mountain smoking,the people were al terrified and kept their distance.	18 Tout le peuple voyant ces coups de tonnerre, ces lueurs, ce son de trompe et la montagne fumante,eut peur et se tint à distance.
19 'Speak to us yourself,' they said to Moses, 'and we wil obey; but do not let God speak to us, or weshall die.'	19 Ils dirent à Moïse: "Parle-nous, toi, et nous t'écouterons; mais que Dieu ne nous parle pas, car alorsc'est la mort."
20 Moses said to the people, 'Do not be afraid; God has come to test you, so that your fear of him, beingalways in your mind, may keep you from sinning.'	20 Moïse dit au peuple: "Ne craignez pas. C'est pour vous mettre à l'épreuve que Dieu est venu, pourque sa crainte vous demeure présente et que vous ne péchiez pas."
21 So the people kept their distance while Moses approached the dark cloud where God was.	21 Le peuple se tint à distance et Moïse s'approcha de la nuée obscure où était Dieu.
22 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Tel the Israelites this, "You have seen for yourselves how I have spoken toyou from heaven.	22 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Tu parleras ainsi aux Israélites: Vous avez vu vous-mêmes comment je vousai parlé du haut du ciel.
23 You must not make gods of silver to rival me, nor must you make yourselves gods of gold.	23 Vous ne ferez pas à côté de moi des dieux d'argent, et des dieux d'or vous ne vous en ferez pas.
24 "You must make me an altar of earth on which to sacrifice your burnt offerings and communionsacrifices, your sheep and cattle. Wherever I choose to have my name remembered, I shal come to you andbless you.	24 Tu me feras un autel de terre sur quoi immoler tes holocaustes et tes sacrifices de communion, tonpetit et ton gros bétail. En tout lieu où je rappellerai mon nom, je viendrai à toi et je te bénirai.
25 If you make me an altar of stone, do not build it of dressed stones; for if you use a chisel on it, youwil profane it.	25 Si tu me fais un autel de pierres, ne le bâtis pas de pierres taillées, car, en le travaillant au ciseau, tule profanerais.
26 You must not go up to my altar by steps, in case you expose your nakedness on them." '	26 Et tu ne monteras pas à mon autel par des marches pour n'y pas laisser voir ta nudité."
