1 Then God spoke al these words. He said,	1 Alors Dieu prononça toutes ces paroles:
2 'I am Yahweh your God who brought you out of Egypt, where you lived as slaves.	2 “Je suis Yahvé ton Dieu, celui qui t’a fait sortir d’Égypte, du pays de l’esclavage:
3 'You shal have no other gods to rival me.	3 tu n’auras pas d’autre Dieu que moi.
4 'You shal not make yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything in heaven above or on earthbeneath or in the waters under the earth.	4 “Tu ne feras pas de statue à l’image des choses qui sont là-haut dans le ciel, ou en bas sur la terre, ou dans les eaux sous la terre.
5 'You shal not bow down to them or serve them. For I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God and Ipunish a parent's fault in the children, the grandchildren, and the great-grandchildren among those who hate me;	5 Tu ne te prosterneras pas devant elles, tu ne les serviras pas, car moi, Yahvé ton Dieu, je suis un Dieu jaloux. Je punis la faute des pères sur leurs fils, leurs petits-fils et arrière-petits-fils, lorsqu’ils me haïssent.
6 but I act with faithful love towards thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.	6 Mais je garde ma faveur jusqu’à la millième génération pour ceux qui m’aiment et gardent mes commandements.
7 'You shal not misuse the name of Yahweh your God, for Yahweh wil not leave unpunished anyonewho misuses his name.	7 “Tu ne feras pas un mauvais usage du nom de Yahvé ton Dieu, car Yahvé ne tient pas quitte celui qui fait un mauvais usage de son nom.
8 'Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.	8 “Souviens-toi du jour du sabbat et sanctifie-le.
9 For six days you shal labour and do al your work,	9 Pendant six jours tu serviras et tu feras ton travail,
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath for Yahweh your God. You shal do no work that day, neither younor your son nor your daughter nor your servants, men or women, nor your animals nor the alien living with you.	10 mais le septième jour est un repos en l’honneur de Yahvé, ton Dieu. Tu ne feras aucun travail, ni toi, ni ton fils, ni ta fille, ni ton serviteur, ni ta servante, ni tes bêtes, ni l’étranger qui habite chez toi.
11 For in six days Yahweh made the heavens, earth and sea and al that these contain, but on theseventh day he rested; that is why Yahweh has blessed the Sabbath day and made it sacred.	11 Sache que Yahvé a fait en six jours les cieux, la terre, la mer et tout ce qui s’y trouve, et il s’est reposé le septième jour. C’est pour cela que Yahvé a béni ce jour de sabbat et l’a rendu saint.
12 'Honour your father and your mother so that you may live long in the land that Yahweh your God isgiving you.	12 “Entoure d’égards ton père et ta mère: c’est ainsi que tu vivras longtemps sur la terre que Yahvé ton Dieu te donne.
13 'You shal not kil .	13 “Tu ne tueras pas.
14 'You shal not commit adultery.	14 “Tu ne commettras pas d’adultère.
15 'You shal not steal.	15 “Tu ne voleras pas.
16 'You shal not give false evidence against your neighbour.	16 “Tu ne porteras pas de faux témoignage contre ton prochain.
17 'You shal not set your heart on your neighbour's house. You shal not set your heart on yourneighbour's spouse, or servant, man or woman, or ox, or donkey, or any of your neighbour's possessions.'	17 “Tu ne resteras pas à désirer la maison de ton prochain, tu ne chercheras pas à prendre la femme de ton prochain, ni son serviteur, ni sa servante, ni son bœuf, ni son âne, ni rien de ce qui lui appartient.”
18 Seeing the thunder pealing, the lightning flashing, the trumpet blasting and the mountain smoking,the people were al terrified and kept their distance.	18 Tout le peuple regardait: ce n’étaient que tonnerre, éclairs et sons de trompes sur la montagne fumante. Le peuple en tremblait et se tenait à distance.
19 'Speak to us yourself,' they said to Moses, 'and we wil obey; but do not let God speak to us, or weshall die.'	19 Alors tous dirent à Moïse: “Parle-nous, toi, et nous t’écouterons, mais que Dieu ne nous parle pas, ou nous allons mourir!”
20 Moses said to the people, 'Do not be afraid; God has come to test you, so that your fear of him, beingalways in your mind, may keep you from sinning.'	20 Moïse répondit au peuple: “C’est pour vous mettre à l’épreuve que Dieu est descendu, pour que sa crainte soit toujours en vous, et que vous ne péchiez pas.”
21 So the people kept their distance while Moses approached the dark cloud where God was.	21 C’est ainsi que le peuple se tint à distance pendant que Moïse s’avançait vers la nuée, là où était Dieu.
22 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Tel the Israelites this, "You have seen for yourselves how I have spoken toyou from heaven.	22 Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Voici ce que tu diras aux Israélites: Vous avez vu que je vous parlais du haut du ciel.
23 You must not make gods of silver to rival me, nor must you make yourselves gods of gold.	23 Vous ne mettrez rien sur le même plan que moi, vous ne vous ferez pas des dieux d’argent et des dieux d’or.
24 "You must make me an altar of earth on which to sacrifice your burnt offerings and communionsacrifices, your sheep and cattle. Wherever I choose to have my name remembered, I shal come to you andbless you.	24 Tu me feras un autel de terre où tu présenteras tes sacrifices et tes offrandes de petit et de gros bétail. Dans tous les lieux où j’aurai manifesté mon Nom, je viendrai vers toi et je te bénirai.
25 If you make me an altar of stone, do not build it of dressed stones; for if you use a chisel on it, youwil profane it.	25 Si tu me fais un autel de pierres, tu ne tailleras pas les pierres, parce qu’en les travaillant avec le fer tu les profanerais.
26 You must not go up to my altar by steps, in case you expose your nakedness on them." '	26 Tu ne monteras pas à mon autel par des marches pour ne pas découvrir ta nudité.
