Exodus 20

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Then God spoke al these words. He said,	1 Entonces Dios pronunció estas palabras:
2 'I am Yahweh your God who brought you out of Egypt, where you lived as slaves.	2 Yo soy el Señor, tu Dios, que te hice salir de Egipto, de un lugar en esclavitud.
3 'You shal have no other gods to rival me.	3 No tendrás otros dioses delante de mí.
4 'You shal not make yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything in heaven above or on earthbeneath or in the waters under the earth.	4 No te harás ninguna escultura y ninguna imagen de lo que hay arriba, en el cielo, o abajo, en la tierra, o debajo de la tierra, en las aguas.
5 'You shal not bow down to them or serve them. For I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God and Ipunish a parent's fault in the children, the grandchildren, and the great-grandchildren among those who hate me;	5 No te postrarás ante ellas, ni les rendirás culto, porque yo soy el Señor, tu Dios, un Dios celoso, que castigo la maldad de los padres en los hijos, hasta la tercera y cuarta generación, si ellos me aborrecen;
6 but I act with faithful love towards thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.	6 y tengo misericordia a lo largo de mil generaciones, si me aman y cumplen mis mandamientos.
7 'You shal not misuse the name of Yahweh your God, for Yahweh wil not leave unpunished anyonewho misuses his name.	7 No pronunciarás en vano el nombre del Señor, tu Dios, porque él no dejará sin castigo al que lo pronuncie en vano.
8 'Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.	8 Acuérdate del día sábado para santificarlo.
9 For six days you shal labour and do al your work,	9 Durante seis días trabajarás y harás todas tus tareas;
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath for Yahweh your God. You shal do no work that day, neither younor your son nor your daughter nor your servants, men or women, nor your animals nor the alien living with you.	10 pero el séptimo es día de descanso en honor del Señor, tu Dios. En él no harán ningún trabajo, ni tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu esclavo, ni tu esclava, ni tus animales, ni el extranjero que reside en tus ciudades.
11 For in six days Yahweh made the heavens, earth and sea and al that these contain, but on theseventh day he rested; that is why Yahweh has blessed the Sabbath day and made it sacred.	11 Porque en seis días el Señor hizo el cielo, la tierra, el mar y todo lo que hay en ellos, pero el séptimo día descansó. Por eso el Señor bendijo el día sábado y lo declaró santo.
12 'Honour your father and your mother so that you may live long in the land that Yahweh your God isgiving you.	12 Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, para que tengas una larga vida en la tierra que el Señor, tu Dios, te da.
13 'You shal not kil .	13 No matarás.
14 'You shal not commit adultery.	14 No cometerás adulterio.
15 'You shal not steal.	15 No robarás.
16 'You shal not give false evidence against your neighbour.	16 No darás falso testimonio contra tu prójimo.
17 'You shal not set your heart on your neighbour's house. You shal not set your heart on yourneighbour's spouse, or servant, man or woman, or ox, or donkey, or any of your neighbour's possessions.'	17 No codiciarás la casa de tu prójimo; no codiciarás la mujer de tu prójimo, ni su esclavo, ni su esclava, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni ninguna otra cosa que le pertenezca.
18 Seeing the thunder pealing, the lightning flashing, the trumpet blasting and the mountain smoking,the people were al terrified and kept their distance.	18 Al percibir los truenos, los relámpagos y el sonido de la trompeta, y al ver la montaña humeante, todo el pueblo se estremeció de temor y se mantuvo alejado.
19 'Speak to us yourself,' they said to Moses, 'and we wil obey; but do not let God speak to us, or weshall die.'	19 Entonces dijeron a Moisés: «Háblanos tú y oiremos, pero que no nos hable Dios, porque moriremos».
20 Moses said to the people, 'Do not be afraid; God has come to test you, so that your fear of him, beingalways in your mind, may keep you from sinning.'	20 Moisés respondió al pueblo: «No teman, porque Dios ha venido a ponerlos a prueba para infundirles su temor. Así ustedes no pecarán».
21 So the people kept their distance while Moses approached the dark cloud where God was.	21 Y mientras el pueblo se mantenía a distancia, Moisés se acercó a la nube oscura donde estaba Dios.
22 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Tel the Israelites this, "You have seen for yourselves how I have spoken toyou from heaven.	22 El Señor dijo a Moisés: Di a los israelitas: Ustedes han visto que les hablé desde el cielo.
23 You must not make gods of silver to rival me, nor must you make yourselves gods of gold.	23 No se fabriquen dioses de plata o de oro para ponerlos a mi lado.
24 "You must make me an altar of earth on which to sacrifice your burnt offerings and communionsacrifices, your sheep and cattle. Wherever I choose to have my name remembered, I shal come to you andbless you.	24 Me harás un altar de tierra, y sobre él ofrecerás tus holocaustos y tus sacrificios de comunión, tus ovejas y tus bueyes. Vendré y te bendeciré en cualquier lugar donde yo haga que se recuerde mi Nombre.
25 If you make me an altar of stone, do not build it of dressed stones; for if you use a chisel on it, youwil profane it.	25 Si me edificas un altar de piedra, no lo harás con piedras talladas, porque al trabajarlas con el hierro, las profanarás,.
26 You must not go up to my altar by steps, in case you expose your nakedness on them." '	26 Tampoco subirás por gradas a mi altar, para que no se vea tu desnudez.
