Exodus 10

1 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Go to Pharaoh, for I have made him and his officials stubborn, to displaythese signs of mine among them;	1 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Va' dal faraone, perché sono io che ho appesantito il suo cuore e il cuore dei suoi servi, perché io possa compiere questi miei segni in mezzo a lui,
2 so that you can tel your sons and your grandsons how I made fools of the Egyptians and what signs Iperformed among them, so that you would know that I am Yahweh.'	2 e tu possa raccontare a tuo figlio e al figlio di tuo figlio come io ho preso in giro l'Egitto, con i miei segni che ho fatto in mezzo a loro, e sappiate che io sono il Signore".
3 Moses and Aaron then went to Pharaoh and said to him, 'Yahweh, God of the Hebrews, says this,"How much longer wil you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go and worship me.	3 Mosè, con Aronne, andò dal faraone e gli dissero: "Così ha detto il Signore, Dio degli Ebrei: "Fino a quando ti rifiuterai di umiliarti davanti a me? Manda via il mio popolo perché mi serva.
4 Or, if you refuse to let my people go, tomorrow I shall send locusts into your country.	4 Poiché se non vuoi mandar via il mio popolo, ecco io farò venire domani delle cavallette nel tuo territorio:
5 They wil cover the surface of the soil so that the soil cannot be seen. They wil devour the remainderof what has escaped, of what you have been left after the hail; they wil devour al your trees growing in thefields;	5 copriranno la faccia della terra e non si potrà più vedere la terra; mangeranno il resto di quello che è scampato, rimasto a voi dopo la grandine, mangeranno ogni albero che cresce nella campagna;
6 they will fil your houses, al your officials' houses and al the Egyptians' houses -- something yourancestors and your ancestors' ancestors have never seen from the day they first appeared on earth until now." 'Then he turned on his heel and left Pharaoh's presence.	6 riempiranno le tue case, le case dei tuoi servi e le case di tutto l'Egitto: ciò che non videro i tuoi padri e i padri dei tuoi padri dal giorno in cui furono su questo suolo fino a questo giorno". Poi si voltò, e uscì dal faraone.
7 At which, Pharaoh's officials said to him, 'How much longer are we to be tricked by this fellow? Let thepeople go and worship Yahweh their God. Do you not final y realise that Egypt is on the brink of ruin?'	7 I servi del faraone gli dissero: "Fino a quando costui sarà per noi una trappola? Manda via questa gente: che servano il Signore, loro Dio; non sai ancora che l'Egitto è perduto?".
8 So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh who said to them, 'Go and worship Yahweh yourGod. But who are to go?'	8 Si fece venire Mosè, con Aronne, dal faraone. Disse loro: "Andate a servire il Signore, vostro Dio: ma chi sono quelli che se ne vanno?".
9 Moses replied, 'We shal take our young men and our old men, we shall take our sons and daughters,our flocks and our herds, since we are going to hold a feast in Yahweh's honour.'	9 Mosè disse: "Andremo con i nostri giovani e i nostri anziani, andremo con i nostri figli e le nostre figlie, con il nostro gregge e il nostro armento, perché è per noi una festa del Signore".
10 Pharaoh said, 'So I must let you go with your wives and children! May Yahweh preserve you! Plainly,you are up to no good!	10 Disse loro: "Che il Signore sia con voi, come è vero che io voglio mandar via voi e i vostri piccoli: badate, però, che voi avete in mente un progetto malvagio.
11 Oh no! You men may go and worship Yahweh, since that was your original request.' With that, theywere driven from Pharaoh's presence.	11 No: andate voi, uomini, a servire il Signore, poiché è quello che chiedete". E li cacciarono via dalla presenza del faraone.
12 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand over Egypt for the locusts. Let them invade Egyptand devour whatever is growing in the country, whatever the hail has left!'	12 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Stendi la tua mano sul paese d'Egitto per le cavallette: salgano sul paese d'Egitto e mangino ogni erba della terra, tutto quello che ha lasciato la grandine".
13 Moses stretched his staff over Egypt, and over the country Yahweh sent an east wind which blew althat day and night. By morning, the east wind had brought the locusts.	13 Mosè stese il suo bastone sul paese d'Egitto, e il Signore diresse un vento dell'est sul paese tutto quel giorno e tutta la notte. Venne il mattino, e il vento dell'est aveva portato le cavallette.
14 The locusts invaded the whole of Egypt and settled al over Egypt, in great swarms; never had therebeen so many locusts before, nor would there be again.	14 Le cavallette salirono su tutto il paese d'Egitto e si posarono su tutto il territorio d'Egitto in gran quantità, così che prima non c'erano state tante cavallette, come dopo non ci saranno più.
15 They covered the surface of the ground till the land was devastated. They devoured whatever wasgrowing in the fields and al the fruit on the trees that the hail had left. No green was left on tree or plant in thefields anywhere in Egypt.	15 Coprirono la superficie di tutto il paese e oscurarono la terra: mangiarono tutta l'erba della terra, ogni frutto dell'albero lasciato dalla grandine; niente di verde restò sugli alberi e dell'erba del campo in tutto il paese d'Egitto.
16 Pharaoh sent urgently for Moses and Aaron and said, 'I have sinned against Yahweh your God andagainst you.	16 Il faraone si affrettò a chiamare Mosè ed Aronne e disse: "Ho peccato contro il Signore, vostro Dio, e contro di voi.
17 Now forgive my sin, I implore you, just this once, and entreat Yahweh your God to turn this deadlything away from me.'	17 Ma ora, ti prego, perdona il mio peccato almeno questa volta, e pregate il Signore, vostro Dio, che soltanto allontani da me questa morte".
18 When Moses left Pharaoh's presence he prayed to Yahweh,	18 Egli uscì dal faraone e pregò il Signore.
19 and Yahweh changed the wind into a west wind, very strong, which carried the locusts away andswept them into the Sea of Reeds. There was not one locust left in the whole of Egypt.	19 Il Signore cambiò la direzione del vento e lo fece soffiare dal mare, molto forte: esso portò via le cavallette e le trascinò verso il Mar Rosso: non restò una cavalletta in tutto il territorio d'Egitto.
20 But Yahweh made Pharaoh stubborn, and he did not let the Israelites go.	20 Ma il Signore indurì il cuore del faraone, e non mandò via i figli d'Israele.
21 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand towards heaven, and let darkness, darkness sothick that it can be felt, cover Egypt.'	21 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Stendi la tua mano verso il cielo: ci sarà il buio sul paese d'Egitto, un buio da poterlo palpare".
22 So Moses stretched out his hand towards heaven, and for three days there was thick darkness overthe whole of Egypt.	22 Mosè stese la sua mano verso il cielo e ci fu buio cupo in tutto il paese d'Egitto per tre giorni.
23 No one could see anyone else or move about for three days, but al the Israelites did have lightwhere they were living.	23 Nessuno vide il proprio fratello e nessuno si alzò in piedi per tre giorni, ma tutti i figli d'Israele avevano luce dove risiedevano.
24 Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, 'Go and worship Yahweh, but your flocks and herds are to stayhere. Your wives and children can go with you too.'	24 Il faraone chiamò Mosè e disse: "Andate a servire il Signore: solo restino il vostro gregge e il vostro armento. Anche i vostri piccoli possono andare con voi".
25 Moses said, 'But now you must give us sacrifices and burnt offerings to offer to Yahweh our God.	25 Mosè disse: "Anche tu ci darai in mano sacrifici e olocausti per offrirli al Signore, nostro Dio.
26 And our livestock will go with us too; not a hoof wil be left behind; for we may need animals fromthese to worship Yahweh our God; for until we get there we ourselves cannot tell how we are to worshipYahweh.'	26 Anche i nostri greggi partiranno con noi: non ne resterà un'unghia, perché da quello prenderemo le vittime per servire il Signore, nostro Dio, e noi non sappiamo con che cosa servire il Signore finché non arriveremo laggiù".
27 But Yahweh made Pharaoh stubborn, and he refused to let them go.	27 Il Signore indurì il cuore del faraone e non volle mandarli via.
28 Pharaoh said to Moses, 'Out of my sight! Be sure you never see my face again, for the next time yousee my face you die!'	28 Il faraone gli disse: "Va' via da me: sta' attento a non vedere più il mio volto, perché il giorno in cui vedrai il mio volto morirai".
29 Moses then said, 'You yourself have said it. I shal never see your face again.'	29 Mosè disse: "Hai detto bene: non vedrò più il tuo volto".
