1 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Go to Pharaoh, for I have made him and his officials stubborn, to displaythese signs of mine among them;	1 E IL Signore disse a Mosè: Entra da Faraone; perciocchè io ho aggravato il suo cuore, e il cuore dei suoi servitori, acciocchè io ponga questi miei segni in mezzo del suo paese;
2 so that you can tel your sons and your grandsons how I made fools of the Egyptians and what signs Iperformed among them, so that you would know that I am Yahweh.'	2 e acciocchè tu racconti al tuo figliuolo, e al figliuolo del tuo figliuolo, ciò che io avrò operato in Egitto, e i segni che avrò fatti fra loro; e che voi conosciate che io sono il Signore.
3 Moses and Aaron then went to Pharaoh and said to him, 'Yahweh, God of the Hebrews, says this,"How much longer wil you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go and worship me.	3 Mosè adunque ed Aaronne entrarono da Faraone, e gli dissero: Così ha detto il Signore Iddio degli Ebrei: Fino a quando ricuserai d’umiliarti davanti alla mia faccia? lascia andare il mio popolo, acciocchè mi serva.
4 Or, if you refuse to let my people go, tomorrow I shall send locusts into your country.	4 Perciocchè, se tu ricusi di lasciarlo andare, ecco, io fo venir domane delle locuste nelle tue contrade.
5 They wil cover the surface of the soil so that the soil cannot be seen. They wil devour the remainderof what has escaped, of what you have been left after the hail; they wil devour al your trees growing in thefields;	5 Ed esse copriranno la faccia della terra, talchè la terra non si potrà vedere; e mangeranno il rimanente ch’è scampato, quel che vi è restato dalla gragnuola; mangeranno ancora ogni albero che vi germoglia fuori ne’ campi.
6 they will fil your houses, al your officials' houses and al the Egyptians' houses -- something yourancestors and your ancestors' ancestors have never seen from the day they first appeared on earth until now." 'Then he turned on his heel and left Pharaoh's presence.	6 Ed empieranno le tue case, e le case di tutti i tuoi servitori, e le case di tutti gli Egizj; il che nè i tuoi padri nè i padri de’ tuoi padri, giammai non videro, dal giorno che furono in su la terra, infino ad oggi. Detto questo, egli si rivoltò indietro, e uscì d’appresso a Faraone.
7 At which, Pharaoh's officials said to him, 'How much longer are we to be tricked by this fellow? Let thepeople go and worship Yahweh their God. Do you not final y realise that Egypt is on the brink of ruin?'	7 E i servitori di Faraone gli dissero: Fino a quando ci sarà costui per laccio? lascia andar questi uomini acciocchè servano al Signore Iddio loro; non sai tu ancora che l’Egitto è perito?
8 So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh who said to them, 'Go and worship Yahweh yourGod. But who are to go?'	8 Allora Mosè ed Aaronne furono fatti tornare a Faraone; ed egli disse loro: Andate, servite al Signore Iddio vostro; ma chi e chi son coloro che andranno?
9 Moses replied, 'We shal take our young men and our old men, we shall take our sons and daughters,our flocks and our herds, since we are going to hold a feast in Yahweh's honour.'	9 E Mosè disse: Noi andremo co’ nostri fanciulli, e co’ nostri vecchi; noi andremo co’ nostri figliuoli, e con le nostre figliuole; con le nostre gregge, e co’ nostri armenti; perciocchè abbiamo a celebrare una festa al Signore.
10 Pharaoh said, 'So I must let you go with your wives and children! May Yahweh preserve you! Plainly,you are up to no good!	10 Ed egli disse loro: Così sia il Signore con voi, come io vi lascerò andare con le vostre famiglie; guardate, perciocchè il male vi soprastà davanti agli occhi.
11 Oh no! You men may go and worship Yahweh, since that was your original request.' With that, theywere driven from Pharaoh's presence.	11 E’ non sarà così; andate ora voi uomini, e servite al Signore; poichè questo è quel che voi cercate. E Faraone li cacciò dal suo cospetto
12 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand over Egypt for the locusts. Let them invade Egyptand devour whatever is growing in the country, whatever the hail has left!'	12 E il Signore disse a Mosè: Stendi la tua mano sopra il paese di Egitto, per far venir le locuste; ed esse saliranno sopra il paese di Egitto, e mangeranno tutta l’erba della terra; tutto quel che la gragnuola ha lasciato di resto.
13 Moses stretched his staff over Egypt, and over the country Yahweh sent an east wind which blew althat day and night. By morning, the east wind had brought the locusts.	13 E Mosè stese la sua bacchetta sopra il paese di Egitto; e il Signore fece venire un vento orientale in sul paese tutto quel giorno, e tutta quella notte; e, come fu mattina, il vento orientale avea portate le locuste.
14 The locusts invaded the whole of Egypt and settled al over Egypt, in great swarms; never had therebeen so many locusts before, nor would there be again.	14 E le locuste salirono sopra tutto il paese di Egitto, e si posarono per tutte le contrade di Egitto, in grandissima moltitudine; avanti quelle non ne furono, e dopo quelle non ne saranno giammai di tali.
15 They covered the surface of the ground till the land was devastated. They devoured whatever wasgrowing in the fields and al the fruit on the trees that the hail had left. No green was left on tree or plant in thefields anywhere in Egypt.	15 Ed esse copersero la faccia di tutto il paese, talchè il paese ne fu scurato, e mangiarono tutta l’erba del paese, e tutti i frutti degli alberi, i quali la gragnuola avea lasciati di resto; e non rimase alcun verdume negli alberi, nè nell’erbe dei campi per tutto il paese di Egitto.
16 Pharaoh sent urgently for Moses and Aaron and said, 'I have sinned against Yahweh your God andagainst you.	16 Allora Faraone fece prestamente chiamar Mosè ed Aaronne, e disse loro: Io ho peccato contro al Signore Iddio vostro, e contro a voi.
17 Now forgive my sin, I implore you, just this once, and entreat Yahweh your God to turn this deadlything away from me.'	17 Ma ora perdonami, ti prego, il mio peccato, sol questa volta; e pregate il Signore Iddio vostro, che rimuova d’addosso a me sol questa morte.
18 When Moses left Pharaoh's presence he prayed to Yahweh,	18 E Mosè uscì d’appresso a Faraone, e pregò il Signore.
19 and Yahweh changed the wind into a west wind, very strong, which carried the locusts away andswept them into the Sea of Reeds. There was not one locust left in the whole of Egypt.	19 E il Signore voltò il vento in un fortissimo vento occidentale, il qual portò via le locuste, e le affondò nel mar rosso; e’ non vi restò una sola locusta in tutti i confini di Egitto.
20 But Yahweh made Pharaoh stubborn, and he did not let the Israelites go.	20 Ma il Signore indurò il cuor di Faraone; ed egli non lasciò andare i figliuoli d’Israele
21 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand towards heaven, and let darkness, darkness sothick that it can be felt, cover Egypt.'	21 E IL Signore disse a Mosè: Stendi la tua mano verso il cielo, e verranno tenebre sopra il paese di Egitto, tali che si potranno tastar con le mani.
22 So Moses stretched out his hand towards heaven, and for three days there was thick darkness overthe whole of Egypt.	22 E Mosè stese la sua mano verso il cielo, e vennero tenebre caliginose in tutto il paese di Egitto, per lo spazio di tre giorni.
23 No one could see anyone else or move about for three days, but al the Israelites did have lightwhere they were living.	23 L’uno non vedeva l’altro; e niuno si levò dal suo luogo, per lo spazio di tre giorni; ma tutti i figliuoli d’Israele ebbero luce nelle loro stanze.
24 Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, 'Go and worship Yahweh, but your flocks and herds are to stayhere. Your wives and children can go with you too.'	24 E Faraone chiamò Mosè, e disse: Andate, servite al Signore; sol le vostre gregge e i vostri armenti saranno fatti restare; le vostre famiglie eziandio andranno con voi.
25 Moses said, 'But now you must give us sacrifices and burnt offerings to offer to Yahweh our God.	25 E Mosè disse: Tu ci concederai pure ancora di prender sacrificii ed olocausti, per offerire al Signore Iddio nostro.
26 And our livestock will go with us too; not a hoof wil be left behind; for we may need animals fromthese to worship Yahweh our God; for until we get there we ourselves cannot tell how we are to worshipYahweh.'	26 Anche il nostro bestiame verrà con noi, senza che ne rimanga pure un’unghia; perciocchè di esso noi abbiamo a prendere da servire al Signore Iddio nostro; e noi non sappiamo con che abbiamo a servire al Signore, finchè siamo arrivati là.
27 But Yahweh made Pharaoh stubborn, and he refused to let them go.	27 Ma il Signore indurò il cuor di Faraone, ed egli non volle lasciarli andare.
28 Pharaoh said to Moses, 'Out of my sight! Be sure you never see my face again, for the next time yousee my face you die!'	28 E Faraone disse a Mosè: Vattene d’appresso a me; guardati che tu non vegga mai più la mia faccia; perciocchè nel giorno che tu vedrai la mai faccia, tu morrai.
29 Moses then said, 'You yourself have said it. I shal never see your face again.'	29 E Mosè disse: Tu hai parlato bene: io non vedrò più la tua faccia
