1 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Go to Pharaoh, for I have made him and his officials stubborn, to displaythese signs of mine among them;	1 E il Signore disse a Mosè: Va' a casa di Faraone, perocché io ho indurato il cuore di lui, e de' suoi servi per eseguire sopra di lui questi miei prodigii.
2 so that you can tel your sons and your grandsons how I made fools of the Egyptians and what signs Iperformed among them, so that you would know that I am Yahweh.'	2 E affinché tu racconti a' tuoi figliuoli, e a' tuoi nipoti quante volte io abbia straziato gli Egiziani, facendo sopra di essi i miei prodigii: onde voi conosciate, che io sono il Signore.
3 Moses and Aaron then went to Pharaoh and said to him, 'Yahweh, God of the Hebrews, says this,"How much longer wil you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go and worship me.	3 Andarono adunque Mosè ed Aronne a casa di Faraone, e gli dissero: Queste cose dice li Signore Dio degli Ebrei: Fino a quando negherai di soggettarti a me? lascia andare il mio popolo ad offerirmi in sacrifizio.
4 Or, if you refuse to let my people go, tomorrow I shall send locusts into your country.	4 Che se tu resisti, e non vuoi lasciarlo andare: ecco che io domane farò venire le locuste nel tuo paese:
5 They wil cover the surface of the soil so that the soil cannot be seen. They wil devour the remainderof what has escaped, of what you have been left after the hail; they wil devour al your trees growing in thefields;	5 Le quali ingombrino la superficie della terra a segno, che nessuna parte di lei si vegga, ma sia divorato quel che avanzò alla grandine: perocché elle roderanno tutte le piante, che germinano pe' campi.
6 they will fil your houses, al your officials' houses and al the Egyptians' houses -- something yourancestors and your ancestors' ancestors have never seen from the day they first appeared on earth until now." 'Then he turned on his heel and left Pharaoh's presence.	6 Ed empieranno le tue case, e quelle de' tuoi servi, e di tutti gli Egiziani, tante di numero, quante non ne videro i padri e gli avi tuoi dal dì, in cui nacquero sopra la terra fino al dì d'oggi. E voltò le spalle, e si partì da Faraone.
7 At which, Pharaoh's officials said to him, 'How much longer are we to be tricked by this fellow? Let thepeople go and worship Yahweh their God. Do you not final y realise that Egypt is on the brink of ruin?'	7 Ma i servi di Faraone dissero a lui: Fino a quando soffrirem noi questo scandalo? lascia andar costoro a fare sacrifizio al Signore Dio loro: non vedi tu, come è rovinato l'Egitto?
8 So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh who said to them, 'Go and worship Yahweh yourGod. But who are to go?'	8 E richiamaron Mosè ed Aronne davanti Faraone, il quale disse loro: Andate, fate sacrifizio al Signore Dio vostro. Chi son quelli che anderanno?
9 Moses replied, 'We shal take our young men and our old men, we shall take our sons and daughters,our flocks and our herds, since we are going to hold a feast in Yahweh's honour.'	9 Disse Mosè: Noi andremo co' nostri bambini, e co' seniori, e co' figliuoli, e colle figlie, colle pecore, e cogli armenti: perocché ell'è una festa solenne del Signore Dio nostro.
10 Pharaoh said, 'So I must let you go with your wives and children! May Yahweh preserve you! Plainly,you are up to no good!	10 E Faraone rispose: Così sia con voi il Signore, come io lascerò andare voi, e i vostri figliuoli. Chi dubita, che voi non abbiate pessime intenzioni?
11 Oh no! You men may go and worship Yahweh, since that was your original request.' With that, theywere driven from Pharaoh's presence.	11 Non sarà così; ma andate soltanto voi uomini, e sacrificate al Signore: perocché questo avete domandato voi stessi. E immediatamente furon cacciati dalla presenza di Faraone.
12 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand over Egypt for the locusts. Let them invade Egyptand devour whatever is growing in the country, whatever the hail has left!'	12 E il Signore disse a Mosè: stendi la tua mano sopra la terra d'Egitto verso la locusta, affinché ella venga sopra di essa, e divori tutta l'erba avanzata alla grandine.
13 Moses stretched his staff over Egypt, and over the country Yahweh sent an east wind which blew althat day and night. By morning, the east wind had brought the locusts.	13 E Mosè stese la verga sopra la terra d'Egitto; e il Signore mandò un vento, che abbruciava per tutto quel dì e la notte; e venuto il mattino, il vento, che bruciava, vi portò le locuste.
14 The locusts invaded the whole of Egypt and settled al over Egypt, in great swarms; never had therebeen so many locusts before, nor would there be again.	14 E queste si sparsero per tutta la terra d'Egitto: e si posarono in tutte le regioni di Egitto in numero senza numero, quante non erano state prima d'allora, né saranno di poi.
15 They covered the surface of the ground till the land was devastated. They devoured whatever wasgrowing in the fields and al the fruit on the trees that the hail had left. No green was left on tree or plant in thefields anywhere in Egypt.	15 E ingombrarono tutta la superficie della terra, devastando ogni cosa. Fu pertanto divorata l'erba de' campi, e tutti quanti i frutti delle piante avanzati alla grandine; e nulla restò di verde nelle piante e nell'erbe della terra in tutto l'Egitto.
16 Pharaoh sent urgently for Moses and Aaron and said, 'I have sinned against Yahweh your God andagainst you.	16 Per la qual cosa Faraone chiamò in fretta Mosè ed Aronne, e disse loro: Ho peccato contro il Signore Dio vostro, e contro di voi.
17 Now forgive my sin, I implore you, just this once, and entreat Yahweh your God to turn this deadlything away from me.'	17 Ora però perdonatemi il mio peccato ancora per questa volta, e pregate il Signore Dio vostro, che tolga da me tal morte.
18 When Moses left Pharaoh's presence he prayed to Yahweh,	18 E partitosi Mosè dalla presenza di Faraone fece orazione al Signore.
19 and Yahweh changed the wind into a west wind, very strong, which carried the locusts away andswept them into the Sea of Reeds. There was not one locust left in the whole of Egypt.	19 Il quale fe' soffiar da ponente un gagliardissimo vento, che portò via le locuste, e gettolle nel mar Rosso. non ne restò neppur una dentro i confini d'Egitto.
20 But Yahweh made Pharaoh stubborn, and he did not let the Israelites go.	20 E il Signore indurò il cuore di Faraone, e non lasciò andar i figliuoli d'Israele.
21 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand towards heaven, and let darkness, darkness sothick that it can be felt, cover Egypt.'	21 E il Signor disse a Mosè: Stendi la tua mano verso del cielo: e sieno tenebre sopra la terra d'Egitto si folte, che possan palparsi.
22 So Moses stretched out his hand towards heaven, and for three days there was thick darkness overthe whole of Egypt.	22 E Mosè stese la mano al cielo: e furono orrende tenebre per tutta la terra d'Egitto per tre giorni.
23 No one could see anyone else or move about for three days, but al the Israelites did have lightwhere they were living.	23 Un uomo non vedeva l'altro, né si movea da dove stava: ma dove abitavano i figliuoli d'Israele, era luce.
24 Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, 'Go and worship Yahweh, but your flocks and herds are to stayhere. Your wives and children can go with you too.'	24 E Faraone chiamò Mosè ed Aronne, e disse loro: Andate, sacrificate al Signore: restino solamente le vostre pecore, e i vostri armenti; i vostri bambini vadan con voi.
25 Moses said, 'But now you must give us sacrifices and burnt offerings to offer to Yahweh our God.	25 Disse Mosè: Le ostie ancora, e gli olocausti darai tu a noi, affinché gli offeriamo al Signore Dio nostro.
26 And our livestock will go with us too; not a hoof wil be left behind; for we may need animals fromthese to worship Yahweh our God; for until we get there we ourselves cannot tell how we are to worshipYahweh.'	26 Tutti i greggi verran con noi: non ne rimarrà una zampa; son necessarii pel culto del Signore Dio nostro: particolarmente non sapendo noi quel che debba immolarsi, fino a tanto che siamo giunti in quel luogo.
27 But Yahweh made Pharaoh stubborn, and he refused to let them go.	27 Ma il Signore indurò il cuore di Faraone, e non volle lasciargli andare.
28 Pharaoh said to Moses, 'Out of my sight! Be sure you never see my face again, for the next time yousee my face you die!'	28 E Faraone disse a Mosè: Levamiti dinanzi, e guardati dal comparir più alla mia presenza: la prima volta, che ci verrai, morrai.
29 Moses then said, 'You yourself have said it. I shal never see your face again.'	29 Rispose Mosè: Sarà, come tu hai detto: non vedrò più la tua faccia.
