NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 In the seventh year Jehoiada decided to take action and made a pact with the regimentalcommanders, Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son ofAdaiah and Elishaphat son of Zichri.	1 El año séptimo, Yehoyadá cobró ánimo y envió a buscar a los jefes de cien, a Azarías, hijo de Yerojam; a Ismael, hijo de Yehojanán; a Azarías, hijo de Obed; a Maaseías, hijo de Adaías, y a Elisafat, hijo de Zikrí; concertando un pacto con ellos,
2 These went al over Judah, gathering the Levites from al the towns of Judah, and the heads of theIsraelite families, who then came to Jerusalem,	2 recorrieron Judá y reunieron a los levitas de todas las ciudades de Judá, y a los cabezas de familia de Israel, que vinieron a Jerusalén.
3 and the whole assembly made a pact with the king in the Temple of God. Jehoiada said to them,'Look, the king's son is now to be king, as Yahweh has promised of the sons of David!	3 Toda la asamblea hizo alianza con el rey en la Casa de Dios; Yehoyadá les dijo: «Aquí tenéis al hijo del rey que ha de reinar, como dijo Yahveh de los hijos de David.
4 This is what you must do: a third of you priests and Levites who come on duty on the Sabbath mustguard the gates,	4 Esto es lo que tenéis que hacer: Un tercio de vosotros, así sacerdotes como levitas, los que entráis el sábado, se quedarán de porteros en las entradas;
5 a third the royal palace, a third the Foundation Gate, while the people must al stay in the courts of theTemple of Yahweh.	5 otro tercio, en la casa del rey; y otro tercio, en la casa del Fundamento; mientras que todo el pueblo estará en los atrios de la Casa de Yahveh.
6 No one must enter the Temple of Yahweh except the priests and the ministering Levites; they maycome in because they are consecrated. But the people must al observe Yahweh's regulations.	6 Nadie podrá entrar en la Casa de Yahveh fuera de los sacerdotes y los levitas que estén de servicio; éstos podrán entrar por estar consagrados, pero todo el pueblo tiene que guardar el precepto de Yahveh.
7 The Levites must surround the king, each man with his weapons in his hands; anyone who enters theTemple must be kil ed. And you wil escort the king when he comes in and when he leaves.'	7 Los levitas se pondrán en torno al rey, cada uno con sus armas en la mano, y cualquiera que penetre en la Casa, morirá. Sólo ellos acompañarán al rey cuando entre y cuando salga».
8 The Levites and al Judah did everything as Jehoiada the priest had ordered, and each one broughthis men, those coming on duty on the Sabbath and those going off duty on the Sabbath, for Jehoiada the priesthad not released any of the divisions from duty.	8 Los levitas y todo Judá hicieron cuanto les había mandado el sacerdote Yehoyadá. Tomó cada uno a sus hombres, tanto los que entraban el sábado como los que salían el sábado; pues el sacerdote Yehoyadá no exceptuó a ninguna de las secciones.
9 Jehoiada the priest then issued the regimental commanders with King David's spears and large andsmal shields, which were kept in the Temple of God.	9 El sacerdote Yehoyadá entregó a los jefes de cien las lanzas y los escudos, grandes y pequeños, del rey David, que se hallaban en la Casa de Dios,
10 He then positioned al the people, each man with his weapon in his hand, from the south side of theTemple to the north side of the Temple, close to the altar and the Temple, to form a circle round the king.	10 y apostó a todo el pueblo, cada uno con sus armas en la mano, desde el ala oriental de la Casa hasta el ala occidental, entre el altar y la Casa, para que rodeasen al rey.
11 Then they brought the king's son out, crowned him, gave him a copy of the covenant and made himking. When Jehoiada and his sons had anointed him, they shouted, 'Long live the king!'	11 Hicieron salir entonces al hijo del rey y le pusieron la diadema y el Testimonio. Le proclamaron rey; Yehoyadá y sus hijos le ungieron y gritaron: «¡Viva el rey!».
12 On hearing the people shouting as they ran to acclaim the king, Athaliah joined the people in theTemple of Yahweh.	12 Al oír Atalía los gritos del pueblo que corría y aclamaba al rey, vino a la Casa de Yahveh, donde estaba el pueblo,
13 When she looked, there stood the king on his dais by the entrance, with the officers and trumpetersat the king's side, and all the people of the country rejoicing and blowing the trumpets, and the singers with theirmusical instruments leading the hymns of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and shouted, 'Treason, treason!'	13 miró, y vio al rey en pie junto a la columna, a la entrada, y a los jefes y las trompetas junto al rey, a todo el pueblo de la tierra, lleno de alegría, que tocaba las trompetas, y a los cantores que, con instrumentos de música, dirigían los cánticos de alabanza. Entonces Atalía rasgó sus vestidos y gritó: «¡Traición, traición!»
14 Jehoiada the priest then gave the order to the regimental commanders in charge of the troops, 'Takeher out between the ranks and put to the sword anyone who follows her.' For the priest had already said, 'Do notkil her inside the Temple of Yahweh.'	14 Pero el sacerdote Yehoyadá dio orden a los jefes de cien, que estaban al frente de las tropas, y les dijo: «Hacedla salir de las filas, y el que la siga que sea pasado a espada». Porque había dicho el sacerdote: «No la matéis en la Casa de Yahveh».
15 So they made way for her, and when she reached the entrance to the Horses' Gate of the palace,they kil ed her there.	15 Así pues, ellos echaron mano de ella, y cuando llegó a la casa del rey por el camino de la Entrada de los Caballos, allí la mataron.
16 Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, al the people and the king to remain Yahweh's people.	16 Entonces Yehoyadá pactó alianza con todo el pueblo y el rey de que el pueblo sería pueblo de Yahveh.
17 Al the people then went to the temple of Baal and demolished it; they smashed its altars and itsimages and kil ed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars.	17 Fue después todo el pueblo a la casa de Baal y la derribaron; rompieron sus altares y sus imágenes, y mataron a Matán, sacerdote de Baal, ante los altares.
18 Jehoiada entrusted the security of the Temple of Yahweh to the priests and Levites, whom David hadput in charge of the Temple of Yahweh to present the burnt offerings of Yahweh as laid down in the Law ofMoses, with joy and song as ordained by David.	18 Yehoyadá puso centinelas en la Casa de Yahveh, a los órdenes de los sacerdotes y levitas que David había distribuido en la Casa de Yahveh, conforme a lo escrito en la Ley de Moisés, para ofrecer los holocaustos con alegría y cánticos, según las disposiciones de David.
19 He also appointed gatekeepers for the gates of the Temple of Yahweh, so that no one who wasunclean might enter for any purpose at al .	19 Puso porteros junto a las puertas de la Casa de Yahveh para que no entrase ninguno que por cualquier causa fuese inmundo.
20 He then took the regimental commanders, the nobles, the government officials and al the people ofthe land and he escorted the king down from the Temple of Yahweh. Entering the palace through the UpperGate, they placed the king on the royal throne.	20 Después tomó a los jefes de cien, a los notables, a los dirigentes del pueblo y al pueblo entero de la tierra; y haciendo descender al rey de la Casa de Yahveh, entraron por la puerta superior en la casa del rey y le sentaron en el trono del reino.
21 Al the people of the land were delighted, and the city made no move after Athaliah had been put todeath.	21 Todo el pueblo de la tierra estaba contento, y la ciudad quedó tranquila; en cuanto a Atalía, la habían matado a espada.
