2 Chronicles 17

NEW JERUSALEM	SMITH VAN DYKE
1 When his son Jehoshaphat succeeded him, he made himself stronger against Israel	1 وملك يهوشافاط ابنه عوضا عنه وتشدد على اسرائيل.
2 by stationing troops in al the fortified towns in Judah and by garrisoning Judah and the towns ofEphraim which his father Asa had captured.	2 وجعل جيشا في جميع مدن يهوذا الحصينة وجعل وكلاء في ارض يهوذا وفي مدن افرايم التي اخذها آسا ابوه.
3 Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat because he fol owed the example of his father's earlier days and didnot have recourse to Baal,	3 وكان الرب مع يهوشافاط لانه سار في طرق داود ابيه الاولى ولم يطلب البعليم
4 but sought Yahweh, the God of his father, fol owing his commandments and not behaving as Israeldid.	4 ولكنه طلب اله ابيه وسار في وصاياه لا حسب اعمال اسرائيل.
5 Because of this, Yahweh put him in secure control of the kingdom, while al Judah gave Jehoshaphatpresents until ample riches and honour were his.	5 فثبّت الرب المملكة في يده وقدم كل يهوذا هدايا ليهوشافاط وكان له غنى وكرامة بكثرة.
6 He was so enthusiastic about obeying Yahweh that once again he abolished the high places andsacred poles in Judah.	6 وتقوى قلبه في طرق الرب ونزع ايضا المرتفعات والسواري من يهوذا
7 In the third year of his reign he sent his leading men-Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel andMicaiah, to give instruction in the towns of Judah.	7 وفي السنة الثالثة لملكه ارسل الى رؤسائه الى بنحائل وعوبديا وزكريا ونثنيئل وميخايا ان يعلّموا في مدن يهوذا
8 With them went the Levites: Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan,Adonijah and Tobijah, the Levites; Elishama and Jehoram the priests went with them.	8 ومعهم اللاويون شمعيا ونثنيا وزبديا وعسائيل وشميراموث ويهوناثان وادونيا وطوبيا وطوب ادونيا اللاويون ومعهم اليشمع ويهورام الكاهنان.
9 They gave instruction in Judah, having with them the book of the Law of Yahweh, and went round althe towns of Judah instructing the people.	9 فعلّموا في يهوذا ومعهم سفر شريعة الرب وجالوا في جميع مدن يهوذا وعلّموا الشعب.
10 A panic from Yahweh seized all the kings of the countries surrounding Judah, as a result of whichthey did not make war on Jehoshaphat.	10 وكانت هيبة الرب على جميع ممالك الاراضي التي حول يهوذا فلم يحاربوا يهوشافاط.
11 Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and a load of silver and the Arabs brought himseven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred he-goats.	11 وبعض الفلسطينيين اتوا يهوشافاط بهدايا وحمل فضة والعربان ايضا أتوه بغنم من الكباش سبعة آلاف وسبع مئة ومن التيوس سبعة آلاف وسبع مئة
12 Jehoshaphat became more and more powerful. He built fortresses and storage towns in Judah.	12 وكان يهوشافاط يتعظم جدا وبنى في يهوذا حصونا ومدن مخازن.
13 He accumulated ample supplies in the towns of Judah. He also had warriors, outstanding men, inJerusalem.	13 وكان له شغل كثير في مدن يهوذا ورجال حرب جبابرة بأس في اورشليم.
14 According to family, this is how they were classified: Over the commanders of the thousands ofJudah was General Adnah, who had three hundred thousand outstanding men;	14 وهذا عددهم حسب بيوت آبائهم من يهوذا رؤساء الوف. عدنة الرئيس ومعه جبابرة بأس ثلاث مئة الف.
15 Under him was General Jehohanan, who had two hundred and eighty thousand;	15 وبجانبه يهوناثان الرئيس ومعه مئتان وثمانون الفا.
16 Under him was Amasiah son of Zichri, who had volunteered for Yahweh and who had two hundredthousand outstanding men;	16 وبجانبه عمسيا بن زكري المنتدب للرب ومعه مئتا الف جبار باس.
17 That outstanding soldier, Eliada, represented Benjamin, and he had two hundred thousand menarmed with bow and shield;	17 ومن بنيامين الياداع جبار بأس ومعه من المتسلحين بالقسي والاتراس مئتا الف.
18 And under him Jehozabad, who had one hundred and eighty thousand equipped for war.	18 وبجانبه يهوزاباد ومعه مئة وثمانون الفا متجردون للحرب.
19 These were in attendance on the king, apart from those whom the king had stationed in the fortifiedtowns al over Judah.	19 هؤلاء خدام الملك فضلا عن الذين جعلهم الملك في المدن الحصينة في كل يهوذا
