NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 When his son Jehoshaphat succeeded him, he made himself stronger against Israel	1 Joschafat, der Sohn Asas, wurde König anstelle seines Vaters. Er wurde mächtig in Israel,
2 by stationing troops in al the fortified towns in Judah and by garrisoning Judah and the towns ofEphraim which his father Asa had captured.	2 brachte Truppen in alle befestigten Städte Judas und legte eine Besatzung in das Land Juda und in die Städte Efraims, die sein Vater Asa erobert hatte.
3 Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat because he fol owed the example of his father's earlier days and didnot have recourse to Baal,	3 Der Herr war mit Joschafat; denn er folgte den früheren Wegen seines Vaters und suchte nicht die Baale auf,
4 but sought Yahweh, the God of his father, fol owing his commandments and not behaving as Israeldid.	4 sondern den Gott seines Vaters. Er befolgte seine Gebote und machte es nicht wie Israel.
5 Because of this, Yahweh put him in secure control of the kingdom, while al Judah gave Jehoshaphatpresents until ample riches and honour were his.	5 Darum festigte der Herr die Königsherrschaft in seiner Hand. Ganz Juda brachte Joschafat Geschenke, sodass ihm Reichtum und Ehre in hohem Maß zuteil wurden.
6 He was so enthusiastic about obeying Yahweh that once again he abolished the high places andsacred poles in Judah.	6 Da sein Herz den Wegen des Herrn folgte, erstarkte sein Mut und so entfernte er auch die Kulthöhen und die Kultpfähle aus Juda.
7 In the third year of his reign he sent his leading men-Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel andMicaiah, to give instruction in the towns of Judah.	7 Im dritten Jahr seiner Regierung sandte er seine Beamten Ben-Hajil, Obadja, Secharja, Netanel und Michaja zur Belehrung des Volkes in die Städte Judas.
8 With them went the Levites: Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan,Adonijah and Tobijah, the Levites; Elishama and Jehoram the priests went with them.	8 Bei ihnen waren die Leviten Schemaja, Netanja, Sebadja, Asaël, Schemiramot, Jonatan, Adonija, Tobija und Tob- Adonija sowie die Priester Elischama und Joram.
9 They gave instruction in Judah, having with them the book of the Law of Yahweh, and went round althe towns of Judah instructing the people.	9 Sie lehrten in Juda; mit dem Gesetzbuch des Herrn durchzogen sie alle Städte Judas und belehrten das Volk.
10 A panic from Yahweh seized all the kings of the countries surrounding Judah, as a result of whichthey did not make war on Jehoshaphat.	10 Über alle Königreiche der Länder rings um Juda kam der Schrecken des Herrn, sodass sie mit Joschafat keinen Krieg anfingen.
11 Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and a load of silver and the Arabs brought himseven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred he-goats.	11 Die Philister brachten ihm Geschenke und zahlten Tribut. Auch die Araber lieferten ihm Kleinvieh: siebentausendsiebenhundert Widder und siebentausendsiebenhundert Ziegenböcke.
12 Jehoshaphat became more and more powerful. He built fortresses and storage towns in Judah.	12 So wurde Joschafat immer mächtiger. Er baute in Juda Burgen und Vorratsstädte
13 He accumulated ample supplies in the towns of Judah. He also had warriors, outstanding men, inJerusalem.	13 und unternahm viel in den Städten Judas. In Jerusalem standen tapfere Krieger zu seiner Verfügung.
14 According to family, this is how they were classified: Over the commanders of the thousands ofJudah was General Adnah, who had three hundred thousand outstanding men;	14 Und das war ihre Dienstordnung nach ihren Großfamilien: Für Juda waren als Tausendschaftsführer bestellt der Oberst Adna mit 300000 tapferen Kriegern
15 Under him was General Jehohanan, who had two hundred and eighty thousand;	15 und ihm zur Seite der Oberst Johanan mit 280000 Mann
16 Under him was Amasiah son of Zichri, who had volunteered for Yahweh and who had two hundredthousand outstanding men;	16 sowie Amasja, der Sohn Sichris, der sich freiwillig (zum Kriegsdienst) für den Herrn gestellt hatte, mit 200000 tapferen Kriegern.
17 That outstanding soldier, Eliada, represented Benjamin, and he had two hundred thousand menarmed with bow and shield;	17 Aus Benjamin kam Eljada, ein tapferer Krieger, mit 200000 Mann, die Bogen und Schild trugen.
18 And under him Jehozabad, who had one hundred and eighty thousand equipped for war.	18 Ihm zur Seite stand Josabad mit 180000 zum Heeresdienst gerüsteten Männern.
19 These were in attendance on the king, apart from those whom the king had stationed in the fortifiedtowns al over Judah.	19 Sie dienten dem König zusätzlich zu jenen, die er in die Festungen in ganz Juda gebracht hatte.
