NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 When his son Jehoshaphat succeeded him, he made himself stronger against Israel	1 Helyette fia, Jozafát lett a király. Ő megerősítette magát Izraellel szemben,
2 by stationing troops in al the fortified towns in Judah and by garrisoning Judah and the towns ofEphraim which his father Asa had captured.	2 számos vitézt helyezett Júda valamennyi, fallal övezett városába, és őrseregeket rendelt Júda országába és Efraim azon városaiba, amelyeket atyja, Ásza elfoglalt.
3 Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat because he fol owed the example of his father's earlier days and didnot have recourse to Baal,	3 Az Úr Jozafáttal volt, mivel ő atyjának, Dávidnak első útjain járt és nem vetette reményét a Baálokba,
4 but sought Yahweh, the God of his father, fol owing his commandments and not behaving as Israeldid.	4 hanem atyja Istenébe s annak a parancsai szerint járt és nem Izrael vétkei szerint.
5 Because of this, Yahweh put him in secure control of the kingdom, while al Judah gave Jehoshaphatpresents until ample riches and honour were his.	5 Ezért az Úr megerősítette a királyságot az ő kezében, és egész Júda ajándékot adott Jozafátnak, úgy, hogy gazdagsága végtelen, dicsősége pedig nagy lett.
6 He was so enthusiastic about obeying Yahweh that once again he abolished the high places andsacred poles in Judah.	6 Minthogy szíve bátor lett az Úr útjain, a magaslatokat és a berkeket is eltávolította Júdából.
7 In the third year of his reign he sent his leading men-Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel andMicaiah, to give instruction in the towns of Judah.	7 Uralkodásának harmadik esztendejében aztán elküldte főemberei közül Benháilt, Abdiást, Zakariást, Natanaelt és Mikeást, hogy tanítsanak Júda városaiban,
8 With them went the Levites: Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan,Adonijah and Tobijah, the Levites; Elishama and Jehoram the priests went with them.	8 és velük a leviták közül Semeját, Natanját, Zábadja, Aszaél, Semirámót, Jonatán, Adoniás, Tóbiás és Tóbadoniás levitákat, s velük Elisáma és Jórám papokat.
9 They gave instruction in Judah, having with them the book of the Law of Yahweh, and went round althe towns of Judah instructing the people.	9 Ezek tanították is a népet Júdában: velük volt az Úr törvényének könyve és bejárták Júda valamennyi városát és oktatták a népet.
10 A panic from Yahweh seized all the kings of the countries surrounding Judah, as a result of whichthey did not make war on Jehoshaphat.	10 Ezért az Úr megrémítette a föld mindazon országait, amelyek Júda körül voltak, úgy, hogy nem mertek hadra kelni Jozafáttal.
11 Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and a load of silver and the Arabs brought himseven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred he-goats.	11 Még a filiszteusok is hoztak ajándékokat és adópénzt Jozafátnak, az arabok pedig aprómarhát, hétezer-hétszáz kost és ugyanannyi kecskét hoztak.
12 Jehoshaphat became more and more powerful. He built fortresses and storage towns in Judah.	12 Így Jozafát mindig nagyobb és egyre hatalmasabb lett. Júdában toronyszerű házakat és fallal övezett városokat építtetett,
13 He accumulated ample supplies in the towns of Judah. He also had warriors, outstanding men, inJerusalem.	13 és sok dolgot csináltatott Júda városaiban. Jeruzsálemben harcos és erős férfiai is voltak:
14 According to family, this is how they were classified: Over the commanders of the thousands ofJudah was General Adnah, who had three hundred thousand outstanding men;	14 ezeknek a száma, családjuk és nemzetségük szerint a következő volt. Júdabeli hadvezérek voltak: Adna vezér, s vele háromszázezer vitéz,
15 Under him was General Jehohanan, who had two hundred and eighty thousand;	15 utána következett Johanán vezér, s vele kétszáznyolcvanezer ember,
16 Under him was Amasiah son of Zichri, who had volunteered for Yahweh and who had two hundredthousand outstanding men;	16 utána Amaszja, Zekri fia következett, aki az Úrnak szentelte magát, s vele kétszázezer vitéz.
17 That outstanding soldier, Eliada, represented Benjamin, and he had two hundred thousand menarmed with bow and shield;	17 Ez után következett Eljáda, a vitéz harcos, és vele kétszázezer íjász és pajzsos.
18 And under him Jehozabad, who had one hundred and eighty thousand equipped for war.	18 Utána következett Jozábád s vele száznyolcvanezer hadra felszerelt ember.
19 These were in attendance on the king, apart from those whom the king had stationed in the fortifiedtowns al over Judah.	19 Mindezek a király rendelkezésére álltak, nem számítva azokat, akiket a fallal övezett városokba, egész Júdába helyezett.
