1 David then summoned to Jerusalem al the officials of Israel -- the tribal chiefs, the senior officials inthe royal service, the commanders of the thousands, the commanders of the hundreds and the overseers of althe property and livestock belonging to the king and to his sons -- including the court officials, the champions andal the men of standing.	1 Or David convocò a Gerusa­lemme tutti i principi d'Israele, i capi delle tribù, i capi delle divisioni al servizio del re, i tribuni, i centurioni, quelli che presiedevano ai beni e ai possessi del re, i suoi figli, i cortigiani, i potenti e i più valorosi dell'esercito.
2 King David then rose to his feet and said: 'My brothers and my people, listen to me. I have set myheart on building a settled home for the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, for the footstool for our God, but when Iwas ready to build it,	2 Poi il re, alzatosi e rimanendo in piedi, disse: « Ascoltatemi, fratelli miei, popolo mio: io ebbi intenzione d'edificare una casa nella qua­le riposasse l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore e lo sgabello dei piedi del nostro Dio; e per edificarla avevo fatto tutti i preparativi;
3 God said to me, "You must not build a house for my name, for you have been a man of war and haveshed blood."	3 ma Dio m'ha detto: Tu non edificherai una casa al nome mio, perchè sei uomo di guerra e hai sparso del sangue.
4 'Even so, out of my entire family, it was I whom Yahweh, God of Israel, chose to reign over Israel forever. Having chosen Judah as leader, and my family out of the House of Judah, it pleased him out of al myfather's sons to make me king of all Israel.	4 Il Signore Dio d'Israele elesse me di tutta la casa del mio padre, perchè fossi re sopra Israele in perpetuo: egli scelse da Giuda i principi, dalla casa di Giuda quella di mio padre; dai figli di mio padre gli piacque scegliere me come re sopra tutto Israele.
5 Out of al my sons -- for Yahweh has given me many -- he has chosen my son Solomon to sit onYahweh's sovereign throne over Israel.	5 E tra i miei figli (il Signore me ne ha dati molti) ha scelto il mio figlio Salomone, perchè segga sul trono del regno del Signore sopra Israele,
6 Furthermore, he has told me, "Solomon your son is the man to build my house and my courts, for Ihave chosen him to be my son and I shal be his father.	6 e mi ha detto: Salomone tuo figlio edificherà la mia casa e i miei atrii, perchè io me l'ho eletto per figlio e gli sarò padre,
7 I shal make his sovereignty secure for ever if he sturdily carries out my commandments andordinances as he does now."	7 e stabilirò il suo regno in eterno, se persevererà nell'adempimento dei miei precetti e delle mie ordinazioni come oggi.
8 'So now in the sight of al Israel, the assembly of Yahweh, and in the hearing of our God, I charge youto observe and adhere strictly to al the commandments of Yahweh your God, so that you may retain possessionof this fine country and leave it to your sons after you as a heritage for ever.	8 Or dunque dinanzi a tutta l'adunanza d'Israele, e al nostro Dio che ci ascolta, osservate e prendete a cuore tutti i comandamenti del Signore Dio nostro, per possedere l'ottima terra e lasciarla ai vostri figli dopo di voi in sempiterno.
9 'And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with an undivided heart andwil ing mind; for Yahweh scrutinises al hearts and understands whatever plans they may devise. If you seekhim, he will let you find him; but forsake him and he wil cast you off for ever.	9 Tu poi, o Salomone mio figlio, riconosci il Dio di tuo padre, servilo con cuore perfetto e con animo volenteroso, perchè il Signore scruta tutti i cuori e penetra tutti i pensieri della mente. Se lo cerchi lo troverai; ma se lo abbandoni egli ti rigetterà in eterno.
10 So, since Yahweh has chosen you to build a house for his sanctuary, go resolutely to work!'	10 Ed ora che il Signore ti ha eletto per edificare la casa del santuario, sii forte e compi l'opera ».
11 David then gave his son Solomon the plans for the portico, the plans for the buildings, itsstorehouses, its upper rooms, its inner rooms and the room for the throne of mercy	11 David diè a Salomone suo figlio il disegno del portico, del tempio, dei magazzini, del cenacolo, delle stanze segrete, della casa di propiziazione,
12 as wel as the plans for everything that he had in mind: for the courts of the house of Yahweh, for althe surrounding rooms, for the treasuries of the house of God and for the sacred treasuries,	12 di tutti gli atrii che egli aveva ideato, delle abitazioni all'intorno per i tesori della casa del Signore e per i tesori delle cose sante;
13 for the orders of priests and Levites, for all the duties to be carried out in the service of the house ofYahweh, and for al the liturgical objects to be used in the house of Yahweh;	13 la distribuzione dei sacerdoti e dei leviti per tutti gli uffici della casa del Signore e per tutti i vasi consacrati al servizio del tempio del Signore:
14 for the gold bul ion, for all the golden liturgical objects of various uses; for the silver bul ion, for al thesilver liturgical objects of various uses;	14 d'oro secondo il peso necessario per ciascun vaso del ministero, e un monte d'argento pesato secondo la diversità dei vasi e dei lavori.
15 for the gold bul ion for the golden lamp-stands and for their lamps, and for the silver bullion for thesilver lamp-stands and their lights, depending on the function of each lamp-stand;	15 Per i candelabri d'oro e per le lampade diede l'oro secondo la misura di ciascun candelabro e delle lampade. Così pure per i candelabri d'argento e per le loro lampade diede il peso d'argento secondo la diversità della loro misura.
16 for the gold bul ion for each of the tables for the loaves of permanent offering and the silver for thesilver tables;	16 Diede inoltre l'oro per le tavole dei pani di proposizione, secondo la diversità delle tavole, e l'argento per le altre tavole d'argento.
17 for the pure gold for the forks, the bowls and the jars, for the gold bul ion for each of the goldenbasins and for the silver bul ion for each of the silver basins;	17 Cosi pure per i forchettoni, per le coppe, per i turiboli d'oro finissimo. Per i leoncini di oro, secondo la misura, della loro grandezza, assegnò pesato l'oro per l'un e per l'altro leoncino. Così pure per i leoni d'argento mise da parte un altro peso d'argento-
18 and for the refined gold bul ion for the altar of incense; also for the gold for the model of the chariotand of the great winged creatures which cover the ark of the covenant of Yahweh with wings outspread-	18 Diede inoltre oro finissimo per l'altare su cui brucia l'incenso e per farne una rappresentazione del carro dei cherubini che spandono le ali e velano l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore. i
19 al this was in the document conveying Yahweh's instructions, by which he revealed the pattern ofwhat was to be done.	19 Tutte que­ste cose, egli disse, mi sono venute scritte dalla mano del Si­gnore, che mi ha fatto comprendere tutti i lavori di questo disegno ».
20 David then said to his son Solomon, 'Be resolute and courageous in your work, do not be afraid ordisheartened, because Yahweh God, my God, is with you. He wil not fail you or forsake you before you havefinished al the work to be done for the house of Yahweh.	20 Disse ancora David a Salomone suo figlio: « Agisci virilmente e fatti animo, e mettiti all'opera, senza temere, senza sbigottire; perchè il Signore Dio mio sarà con te, e non ti lascerà, non ti abbandonerà fino a tanto che tu non abbia compita tutta l'opera del servizio della casa del Signore.
21 And besides, there are the orders of priests and Levites for whatever is needed in connection withthe house of God, and you have at your disposal every kind of craftsman for whatever has to be done, as well asthe officials and al the people entirely at your command.'	21 Ecco, le classi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti per tutto il servizio della casa di Dio sono davanti a te, son pronte, e tanto i capi come il popolo sanno eseguire tutti i tuoi comandi ».
