NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 David then summoned to Jerusalem al the officials of Israel -- the tribal chiefs, the senior officials inthe royal service, the commanders of the thousands, the commanders of the hundreds and the overseers of althe property and livestock belonging to the king and to his sons -- including the court officials, the champions andal the men of standing.	1 David rassembla à Jérusalem tous les chefs d’Israël, les chefs de tribus et les chefs des divers groupes au service du roi, les chefs de mille, les chefs de cent, les intendants préposés aux biens et aux troupeaux du roi et de ses fils, ainsi que les eunuques, les soldats d’élite, et tous les courageux guerriers.
2 King David then rose to his feet and said: 'My brothers and my people, listen to me. I have set myheart on building a settled home for the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, for the footstool for our God, but when Iwas ready to build it,	2 Alors David se leva et dit: “Mes frères et mon peuple, écoutez-moi! Je voulais construire une demeure fixe pour l’Arche d’Alliance de Yahvé sur laquelle se repose notre Dieu. J’ai donc fait les préparatifs pour la construction,
3 God said to me, "You must not build a house for my name, for you have been a man of war and haveshed blood."	3 mais Dieu m’a dit: tu ne bâtiras pas une Maison pour mon Nom, car tu as été un homme de guerre et tu as fait couler le sang.
4 'Even so, out of my entire family, it was I whom Yahweh, God of Israel, chose to reign over Israel forever. Having chosen Judah as leader, and my family out of the House of Judah, it pleased him out of al myfather's sons to make me king of all Israel.	4 Yahvé, Dieu d’Israël, m’a choisi parmi toute la famille de mon père pour régner à jamais sur Israël. En effet, il a choisi Juda comme chef; dans la tribu de Juda, il a choisi la maison de mon père, et parmi les fils de mon père, c’est moi qu’il a voulu établir comme roi sur tout Israël.
5 Out of al my sons -- for Yahweh has given me many -- he has chosen my son Solomon to sit onYahweh's sovereign throne over Israel.	5 De tous mes fils, - car Yahvé m’en a donné beaucoup- il a choisi mon fils Salomon pour s’asseoir sur le trône de Yahvé en Israël.
6 Furthermore, he has told me, "Solomon your son is the man to build my house and my courts, for Ihave chosen him to be my son and I shal be his father.	6 Il m’a dit: c’est ton fils Salomon qui construira mon Temple et mes parvis, car je l’ai choisi pour fils, et moi, je serai un père pour lui.
7 I shal make his sovereignty secure for ever if he sturdily carries out my commandments andordinances as he does now."	7 S’il continue à observer soigneusement mes lois et mes commandements comme il le fait maintenant, j’affermirai sa royauté à jamais.
8 'So now in the sight of al Israel, the assembly of Yahweh, and in the hearing of our God, I charge youto observe and adhere strictly to al the commandments of Yahweh your God, so that you may retain possessionof this fine country and leave it to your sons after you as a heritage for ever.	8 Et maintenant, sous les yeux de tout Israël qui est l’assemblée de Yahvé, et aux oreilles de notre Dieu, je vous le dis: observez et méditez tous les commandements de Yahvé notre Dieu pour qu’il nous garde en ce beau pays et que vous le transmettiez à vos fils en héritage perpétuel.
9 'And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with an undivided heart andwil ing mind; for Yahweh scrutinises al hearts and understands whatever plans they may devise. If you seekhim, he will let you find him; but forsake him and he wil cast you off for ever.	9 Et toi, Salomon, mon fils, connais le Dieu de ton père, sers-le avec fidélité et générosité, car Yahvé connaît le fond de tous les cœurs et pénètre toutes les pensées. Si tu le cherches, il se laissera trouver par toi, mais si tu l’abandonnes, il te rejettera pour toujours.
10 So, since Yahweh has chosen you to build a house for his sanctuary, go resolutely to work!'	10 Regarde maintenant! Yahvé t’a choisi pour lui construire une demeure qui sera un sanctuaire. Sois fort et mets-toi à l’œuvre.”
11 David then gave his son Solomon the plans for the portico, the plans for the buildings, itsstorehouses, its upper rooms, its inner rooms and the room for the throne of mercy	11 David donna à son fils Salomon les plans du vestibule, des bâtiments, des salles des trésors, des chambres hautes, des appartements intérieurs, et de la salle de l’Instrument du Pardon.
12 as wel as the plans for everything that he had in mind: for the courts of the house of Yahweh, for althe surrounding rooms, for the treasuries of the house of God and for the sacred treasuries,	12 Il lui donna aussi le plan de tout ce qu’il avait dans l’esprit pour les parvis de la demeure de Yahvé, pour tous les appartements environnants, les salles des trésors de la Maison de Yahvé et des trésors des offrandes saintes,
13 for the orders of priests and Levites, for all the duties to be carried out in the service of the house ofYahweh, and for al the liturgical objects to be used in the house of Yahweh;	13 l’ordre des prêtres et des lévites, les rituels liturgiques de la Maison de Yahvé, et tout le mobilier du service de la Maison de Yahvé.
14 for the gold bul ion, for all the golden liturgical objects of various uses; for the silver bul ion, for al thesilver liturgical objects of various uses;	14 Il lui donna des instructions sur la quantité d’or nécessaire aux objets utilisés pour chacun des services, sur la quantité d’argent nécessaire aux objets utilisés pour chacun des services,
15 for the gold bul ion for the golden lamp-stands and for their lamps, and for the silver bullion for thesilver lamp-stands and their lights, depending on the function of each lamp-stand;	15 la quantité d’or des chandeliers et de leurs lampes selon le poids de chaque chandelier et de ses lampes, la quantité d’argent pour les chandeliers et leurs lampes, selon l’usage que l’on devait en faire;
16 for the gold bul ion for each of the tables for the loaves of permanent offering and the silver for thesilver tables;	16 la quantité d’or pour chacune des tables sur lesquelles les pains seraient rangés; l’argent pour les tables en argent,
17 for the pure gold for the forks, the bowls and the jars, for the gold bul ion for each of the goldenbasins and for the silver bul ion for each of the silver basins;	17 les fourchettes, les coupes d’or; le poids d’or pour chaque plat creux, le poids d’argent pour chaque coupe;
18 and for the refined gold bul ion for the altar of incense; also for the gold for the model of the chariotand of the great winged creatures which cover the ark of the covenant of Yahweh with wings outspread-	18 le poids d’or fin pour l’autel des encens. Il lui donna les plans du Char avec les Chérubins en or dont les ailes déployées couvraient l’Arche d’Alliance de Yahvé.
19 al this was in the document conveying Yahweh's instructions, by which he revealed the pattern ofwhat was to be done.	19 “Tout cela, dit-il, m’a été donné par écrit par Yahvé, il m’en a fait connaître les moindres détails.”
20 David then said to his son Solomon, 'Be resolute and courageous in your work, do not be afraid ordisheartened, because Yahweh God, my God, is with you. He wil not fail you or forsake you before you havefinished al the work to be done for the house of Yahweh.	20 David dit ensuite à son fils Salomon: “Sois fort et courageux, sois sans crainte et déterminé! Mets-toi à l’œuvre: Yahvé mon Dieu sera avec toi. Il ne te fera pas défaut ni ne t’abandonnera avant que tu aies terminé tout le travail qui doit être fait pour la Maison de Yahvé.
21 And besides, there are the orders of priests and Levites for whatever is needed in connection withthe house of God, and you have at your disposal every kind of craftsman for whatever has to be done, as well asthe officials and al the people entirely at your command.'	21 Voici les ordres des prêtres et des lévites pour tous les services de la Maison de Dieu: chaque homme de bonne volonté avec ses aptitudes t’apportera son concours pour tout ce travail; les chefs et tout le peuple seront entièrement à tes ordres.”
