1 In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah son of Joash became king ofJudah.	1 - Nel secondo anno di Joas figlio di Joacaz, re d'Israele, cominciò a regnare Amasia figlio di Joas, re di Giuda.
2 He was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for twenty-nine years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.	2 Aveva venticinque anni quando cominciò a regnare e regnò ventinove anni in Gerusalemme. Ebbe per madre Joadan di Gerusalemme.

6 But he did not put the murderers' sons to death, in accordance with what is written in the Book ofMoses, where Yahweh has commanded: 'Parents may not be put to death for their children, nor children forparents, but each must be put to death for his own crime.'	6 non uccise i figli degli assassini, secondo quel che è scritto nella legge di Mosè imposta dal Signore, quando disse: «Non moriranno i padri per i figli, nè i figli moriranno per i loro padri, ma ciascuno morirà per i suoi peccati».
7 It was he who slaughtered the Edomites in the Valley of Salt, ten thousand of them, and captured theRock; he gave it the name Joktheel, which it bears to the present day.	7 Percosse gli Idumei nella valle delle Saline, in numero di diecimila, e prese in battaglia Petra, a cui pose nome Jecteel, che dura fino al dì d'oggi.

10 You have conquered Edom and now aspire to even greater glory. Stay where you belong! 11 But Amaziah would not listen, so Jehoash king of Israel marched to the attack. And at Beth-Shemesh,which belongs to Judah, he and Amaziah king of Judah made their trial of strength.	11 Amasia non gli diede ascolto e Joas, re d'Israele, salì e s'incontrò con Amasia, re di Giuda in Betsames, città di Giuda,
12 Judah was defeated by Israel, and everyone fled to his tent.	12 e Giuda venne battuto da Israele e ciascuno se ne fuggì alla sua tenda.
13 The king of Judah, Amaziah son of Jehoash, son of Ahaziah, was taken prisoner at Beth-Shemesh byJehoash king of Israel who led him off to Jerusalem, where he demolished four hundred cubits of the city wallbetween the Ephraim Gate and the Corner Gate;	13 E Amasia, re di Giuda, figlio di Joas, figlio di Ocozia venne fatto prigioniero da Joas, re d'Israele, in Betsames e fu condotto in Gerusalemme. 14 al the gold and silver, and al the vessels to be found in the Temple of Yahweh and in the palacetreasury, and hostages besides, he then took back with him to Samaria.	14 e prese tutto l'oro e l'argento e tutti gli oggetti preziosi che si trovavano nella casa del Signore e nei tesori del re; prese pure gli ostaggi e se ne ritornò in Samaria.
15 The rest of the history of Jehoash, his entire career, his prowess, how he waged war on Amaziah kingof Judah, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	15 Il resto poi delle azioni compiute da Joas, e il suo valore nel combattere contro Amasia, re di Giuda, non è stato forse scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Israele?
16 Then Joash fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; his sonJeroboam succeeded him.	16 Joas dormì co' suoi padri e venne sepolto a Samaria coi re d'Israele e regnò in sua vece il figlio di lui Geroboamo.
17 Amaziah son of Joash, king of Judah, lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son ofJehoahaz, king of Israel.	17 Visse poi Amasia, figlio di Joas, re di Giuda, dopo la morte di Joas, figlio di Joacaz, re d'Israele, quindici anni.

23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah son of Joash, king of Judah, Jeroboam son of Joash became king ofIsrael in Samaria. 25 It was he who recovered the territory of Israel from the Pass of Hamath to the Sea of the Arabah, inaccordance with the word which Yahweh, God of Israel, had spoken through his servant Jonah son of Amittai,the prophet from Gath-Hepher.	25 Egli restituì i confini d'Israele dall'entrata di Emat fino al mare del deserto, secondo la parola del Signore Dio di Israele proferita per mezzo del suo servo Giona figlio di Amati, profeta nativo di Get, che è in Ofer.

27 But Yahweh had resolved not to blot out the name of Israel under heaven; he rescued them by meansof Jeroboam son of Joash.	27 Il Signore non aveva detto di voler distrutto il nome d'Israele dalla faccia della terra, ma lo salvò per mezzo di Geroboamo figlio di Joas.
28 The rest of the history of Jeroboam, his entire career, his prowess, what wars he waged, how hebrought Damascus and Hamath back to their allegiance to Judah and Israel, is this not recorded in the Book ofthe Annals of the Kings of Israel?	28 Il resto poi delle azioni di Geroboamo e tutto ciò che egli fece, e la prodezza colla quale combattè e il modo col quale restituì ad Israele Damasco ed Emat di Giuda, tutte queste cose non sono forse state scritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re d'Israele?
