1 In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah son of Joash became king ofJudah.	1 L'anno secondo di Gioas figliuolo di Joachaz re d'Israele, cominciò a regnare Amasia figliuolo di Gioas re di Giuda.
2 He was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for twenty-nine years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.	2 Egli avea venticinque anni quando cominciò a regnare: e regnò ventinoveanni in Gerusalemme. La sua madre ebbe nome Joadan, ed era di Gerusalemme.
3 He did what Yahweh regards as right, though not like his ancestor David; he imitated his father Joashin all respects.	3 Ed egli fece quello, che era giusto dinanzi al Signore; ma non come Davidde suo padre. Egli imitò in tutto Gioas suo padre.
4 The high places, however, were not abolished, and the people stil offered sacrifices and incense onthe high places.	4 Eccetto solamente, che egli non tolse via i luoghi eccelsi; perocché il popolo immolava tutt'ora, e bruciava incenso ne' luoghi eccelsi.
5 Once the kingdom was firmly under his control, he kil ed those of his retainers who had murdered theking his father.	5 Ed entrato ch'ei fu al possesso del regno, uccise que' servi suoi i quali avean data morte al re suo padre:
6 But he did not put the murderers' sons to death, in accordance with what is written in the Book ofMoses, where Yahweh has commanded: 'Parents may not be put to death for their children, nor children forparents, but each must be put to death for his own crime.'	6 Ma non fece morire i figliuoli degli uccisori conforme a quel, che sta scritto nel libro della legge di Mosè secondo l'ordine del Signore, che dice: Non morranno i padri pe' figliuoli, né i figliuoli morranno pei padri; ma ciascheduno morrà pel suo proprio peccato.
7 It was he who slaughtered the Edomites in the Valley of Salt, ten thousand of them, and captured theRock; he gave it the name Joktheel, which it bears to the present day.	7 Egli sconfisse dieci mila Idumei nella valle delle Saline, ed espugnò Petra, a cui diede il nome di Jectenel, come lo ha sino al dì d'oggi.

9 Jehoash king of Israel sent back word to Amaziah king of Judah, 'The thistle of Lebanon sent amessage to the cedar of Lebanon, saying, "Give my son your daughter in marriage"; but a wild animal of theLebanon ran over the thistle and squashed it.	9 E Gioas re d'Israele mandò dal suo canto a dire ad Amasia re di Giuda: Il cardo del Libano mandò a dire al cedro, che sta sul Libano: Dà la tua figlia per moglie al mio figliuolo: ma le fiere selvagge, che fan dimora sul Libano, in passando conculcarono il cardo.
10 You have conquered Edom and now aspire to even greater glory. Stay where you belong! Whyprovoke disaster, to your own and Judah's ruin?'	10 Tu hai messi in rotta, e fiaccati gl'Idumei, e il tuo cuore si è invanito: sii contento della tua gloria, e statti a sedere in tua casa: perchè vai tu cercando malanni, per andar in rovina tu, e Giuda con te?
11 But Amaziah would not listen, so Jehoash king of Israel marched to the attack. And at Beth-Shemesh,which belongs to Judah, he and Amaziah king of Judah made their trial of strength.	11 Ma Amasia non gli diede retta: e Gioas re d'Israele si mosse, e si videro egli, e Amasia re di Giuda presso a Bethsames città di Giuda.
12 Judah was defeated by Israel, and everyone fled to his tent.	12 E Giuda rimase sconfitto da Israele, e si fuggirono ognuno a casa sua.
13 The king of Judah, Amaziah son of Jehoash, son of Ahaziah, was taken prisoner at Beth-Shemesh byJehoash king of Israel who led him off to Jerusalem, where he demolished four hundred cubits of the city wallbetween the Ephraim Gate and the Corner Gate;	13 E Gioas re d'Israele fece prigioniero in Bethsames Amasia re di Giuda figliuolo di Gioas, figliuolo di Ochozia, e lo condusse a Gerusalemme: e abbattè parte delle mura di Gerusalemme, dalla porta di Ephraim sino alla porta dell'angolo, la lunghezza di quattro cento cubiti.
14 al the gold and silver, and al the vessels to be found in the Temple of Yahweh and in the palacetreasury, and hostages besides, he then took back with him to Samaria.	14 E prese tutto l'oro, e l'argento, e tutti i vasi, che si trovarono nella casa del Signore, e ne' tesori del re, e gli ostaggi, e se tornò a Samaria.
15 The rest of the history of Jehoash, his entire career, his prowess, how he waged war on Amaziah kingof Judah, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	15 Ma il rimanente delle azioni di Gioas che fece, e le sue forti imprese nel combattere contro Amasia re di Giuda, non son elleno scritte nel diario de' fatti dei re d'Israele?
16 Then Joash fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; his sonJeroboam succeeded him.	16 E Gioas si addormentò co' padri suoi, e fu sepolto in Samaria cogli altri re d'Israele: e gli succedette nel regno Geroboam suo figliuolo.
17 Amaziah son of Joash, king of Judah, lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son ofJehoahaz, king of Israel.	17 Or Amasia figliuolo di Gioas, re di Giuda, visse, dopo la morte di Gioas figliuolo di Joachaz, re d'Israele, anni quindici.

19 A plot having been hatched against him in Jerusalem, he fled to Lachish; but he was fol owed toLachish where he was murdered.	19 E fu ordita contro di lui una congiura in Gerusalemme: ma egli si fuggì a Lachis. E gli mandaron dietro a Lucius, e ivi lo uccisero.
20 He was then transported by horse and buried in Jerusalem with his ancestors in the City of David.	20 E lo trasportarono sopra un cocchio, e fu sepolto in Gerusalemme co' padri suoi nella città di David.
21 Al the people of Judah then chose Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king insuccession to his father Amaziah.	21 E tutto il popolo di Giuda prese Azaria, che era in età di sedici anni, e lo dichiararono re in luogo di Amasia suo padre.

23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah son of Joash, king of Judah, Jeroboam son of Joash became king ofIsrael in Samaria. 25 It was he who recovered the territory of Israel from the Pass of Hamath to the Sea of the Arabah, inaccordance with the word which Yahweh, God of Israel, had spoken through his servant Jonah son of Amittai,the prophet from Gath-Hepher.	25 Egli ritornò nel pristino stato i confini d'Israele dall'ingresso di Emath fino al mare del deserto, secondo la parola del Signore Dio d'Israele pronunziata per bocca del suo servo Giona profeta figliuolo di Amathi, il quale era di Geth, che è in Opher.
26 For Yahweh had seen how very bitter the affliction of Israel was, with no one, either fettered or free, tocome to Israel's help.	26 Imperocché il Signore vide l'afflizione d'Israele acerba al sommo, e come eran consunti fin quei, che eran custoditi nella prigione, e i più abbietti, e come non era chi sovvenisse Israele.
27 But Yahweh had resolved not to blot out the name of Israel under heaven; he rescued them by meansof Jeroboam son of Joash.	27 E il Signore non avea decretato, che perisse il nome d'Israele sotto del cielo; ma li salvò per mano di Geroboam figliuolo di Gioas.
28 The rest of the history of Jeroboam, his entire career, his prowess, what wars he waged, how hebrought Damascus and Hamath back to their allegiance to Judah and Israel, is this not recorded in the Book ofthe Annals of the Kings of Israel?	28 Il resto poi delle azioni di Geroboam, e tutto quello, che ei fece, e il suo valore nelle battaglie, e com' egli restituì ad Israele Damasco, ed Emath di Giuda, non è egli scritto nel diario de' fatti dei re d'Israele?
29 Then Jeroboam fell asleep with his ancestors and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; hisson Zechariah succeeded him.	29 E Geroboam si addormentò co' padri suoi regi d'Israele, e gli succedette nel regno Zacharia suo figliuolo.
