1 Solomon was overlord of al the kingdoms from the River to the territory of the Philistines and theEgyptian border. They brought tribute and served him al his life long.	1 Salomone. regnava su tutti i regni, dal fiume fino al paese dei Filistei e al confine d’Egitto. Essi gli offrivano tributo e servirono: Salomone per tutta la sua vita.
2 The daily provisions for Solomon were: thirty measures of fine flour and sixty measures of meal,	2 La provvigione di Salomone per ciascun giorno era di trenta chor di fior di farina, sessanta chor di farina comune,
3 ten fattened oxen, twenty free-grazing oxen, one hundred sheep, besides deer and gazelles, roebucksand fattened poultry.	3 dieci buoi grassi, venti buoi da pascolo, cento capi di bestiame minuto, senza contare i cervi, le gazzelle, le antilopi e i volatili grassi.
4 For he was master of al Transeuphrates -- of all the kings of Transeuphrates from Tiphsah to Gaza --and he enjoyed peace on al his frontiers.	4 Egli infatti dominava su tutto il paese oltre il fiume, da Tipsakh fino a Gaza su tutti i re oltre il fiume, mentre tutt’intorno ai suoi confini c’era pace.
5 Judah and Israel lived in security, everyone under his vine and his fig tree, from Dan to Beersheba,throughout the lifetime of Solomon.	5 Giuda e Israele vivevano sicuri, ognuno all’ombra della sua vite e del suo fico, da Dan fino a Bersabea, durante tutta la vita di Salomone.
6 And Solomon had four thousand stal s of horses for his chariots and twelve thousand cavalrymen.	6 Salomone aveva quattromila scuderie per i cavalli dei suoi carri e dodicimila cavalli.
7 These administrators provided the food for Solomon and for al those who were admitted by him to theroyal table, each for the period of a month; they ensured that nothing was wanting.	7 Ora, quei prefetti provvedevano ogni mese il necessario al re Salomone e a quanti avevano accesso alla mensa del re Salomone; non lasciavano mancare nulla.
8 They also provided the barley and straw for the horses and draught animals, where required, eachaccording to the quota demanded of him.	8 L’orzo poi e il foraggio per i cavalli da tiro e da sella li facevano arrivare nel luogo, dove ognuno si trovava, secondo il suo ufficio.
9 God gave Solomon immense wisdom and understanding, and a heart as vast as the sand on the sea-shore.	9 Dio concesse pure a Salomone sapienza e intelligenza grandissima e un cuore vasto come la sabbia sulla spiaggia del mare,
10 The wisdom of Solomon surpassed the wisdom of al the sons of the East and al the wisdom of Egypt.	10 così che la sapienza di Salomone superò la sapienza di tutti i figli d’oriente e tutta la sapienza degli Egiziani.
11 He was wiser than anyone else, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, than the sons of Mahol, Heman, Calcoland Darda; his fame spread to all the surrounding nations.	11 Salomone fu il più sapiente di tutti; più di Etan l’Ezrakhita, di Heman, di Chalchol e di Darda, figli di Makhol. La sua fama si sparse fra tutti i popoli vicini.
12 He composed three thousand proverbs, and his songs numbered a thousand and five.	12 Salomone proferì tremila proverbi; le sue odi furono millecinque.
13 He could discourse on plants from the cedar in Lebanon to the hyssop growing on the wal ; and hecould discourse on animals and birds and reptiles and fish.	13 Trattò degli alberi, dal cedro del Libano fino all’issopo che sbuca dal muro. Trattò pure del bestiame, degli uccelli, dei rettili e dei pesci.
14 Men from al nations came to hear Solomon's wisdom, and he received gifts from al the kings in theworld, who had heard of his wisdom.	14 Da tutte le nazioni perciò venivano a udire la sapienza di Salomone, venivano anche re della terra di ogni potenza, i quali avevano sentito parlare della sua sapienza.
15 Hiram king of Tyre sent an embassy to Solomon, having learnt that he had been anointed king insuccession to his father and because Hiram had always been a friend of David.	15 Ora Khiram, re di Tiro, poiché aveva saputo che Salomone era stato unto re al posto di suo padre, gli mandò i suoi servitori; Khiram infatti era sempre stato amico di David.
16 And Solomon sent this message to Hiram,	16 Allora Salomone gli mandò questo messaggio:
17 'You are aware that my father David was unable to build a temple for the name of Yahweh his God, onaccount of the wars waged on him from every side, until Yahweh put his enemies under the soles of his feet.	17 «Ti è ben noto come David mio padre non poté edificare un tempio al nome di Jahvè suo Dio, a causa dei nemici che gli mossero guerra da ogni parte finché Jahvè non li prostrò sotto le piante dei suoi piedi.
18 But now Yahweh my God has given me peace on every side: not one enemy, no calamities.	18 Ora Jahvè mio Dio ha concesso a me riposo all’intorno: non C'è nessun avversario, nessuna contrarietà.
19 I propose, then, to build a temple for the name of Yahweh my God, in accordance with what Yahwehtold my father David, "Your son whom I shall place on your throne to succeed you wil be the man to build atemple for my name."	19 Io ho intenzione perciò di edificare un tempio al nome di Jahvè mio Dio come Jahvè ha detto a David mio padre: “Tuo figlio, che porrò al tuo posto sul trono, edificherà un tempio al mio nome”.
20 So now have cedars of Lebanon cut down for me; my servants wil work with your servants, and I shallpay for the hire of your servants at whatever rate you fix. As you know, we have no one as skil ed in felling treesas the Sidonians.'	20 Ora dunque comanda che mi taglino cedri del Libano. I miei schiavi staranno insieme con i tuoi e io ti darò, come salario per i tuoi schiavi, ciò che vorrai. Tu sai bene che fra di noi non c’è nessun esperto nel tagliar legna, come i Sidoni».
21 When Hiram heard what Solomon had said, he was delighted. 'Now blessed be Yahweh,' he said, 'whohas given David a wise son to rule over this great people!'	21 Quando Khiram udì le parole di Salomone, ne ebbe gran piacere ed esclamò: «Oggi io benedico Jahvè perché ha concesso a David un figlio saggio per reggere questo grande popolo!»
22 And Hiram sent word to Solomon, 'I have received your message. For my part, I shall supply you withal you require in the way of cedar wood and juniper.	22 Quindi Khiram mandò a dire a Salomone: «Ho udito quanto mi hai fatto sapere. Io soddisferò ogni tuo desiderio per il legname di cedro e di cipresso.
23 Your servants wil bring these down from Lebanon to the sea, and I shal have them towed by sea toany place you name; I shal discharge them there, and you wil take them over. For your part, you wil see to theprovisioning of my household as I desire.'	23 I miei schiavi li faranno scendere dal Libano al mare; io li disporrò come zattere nel mare fin dove tu mi indicherai. Là li scioglierò e tu li porterai via. Tu poi acconsentirai al mio desiderio, fornendo il vitto alla mia casa».
24 So Hiram provided Solomon with al the cedar wood and juniper he wanted	24 Così Khiram forniva Salomone di legname di cedro e di cipresso, quanto ne voleva.
25 while Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand kor of wheat to feed his household, and twenty thousandkor of pure oil. Solomon gave Hiram this every year.	25 Salomone a sua volta consegnava a Khiram ventimila chor di grano per il cibo della sua casa e venti chor di olive schiacciate. Questo è quanto Salomone consegnava a Khiram, ogni anno.
26 Yahweh gave Solomon wisdom as he had promised him; good relations persisted between Solomonand Hiram, and the two of them concluded a treaty.	26 Ora poiché Jahvè aveva accordato sapienza a Salomone, secondo quanto gli aveva promesso, ci fu pace tra Khiram e Salomone e i due strinsero tra di loro un patto.
27 King Solomon raised a levy throughout Israel for forced labour: the levy numbered thirty thousand men.	27 Il re Salomone fece una leva da tutto Israele; la leva risultò di trentamila uomini,
28 He sent these to Lebanon in relays, ten thousand a month; they spent one month in Lebanon and twomonths at home. Adoram was in charge of the forced labour.	28 che mandava al Libano a schiere di diecimila per mese; un mese stavano al Libano e due mesi a casa. Adoniram presiedeva alla leva.
29 Solomon also had seventy thousand porters and eighty thousand quarrymen in the mountains,	29 Salomone aveva anche settantamila uomini di fatica e ottantamila tagliapietre,
30 as wel as the administrators, officials who supervised the work, three thousand three hundred of themin charge of the men employed in the work.	30 oltre i sovrintendenti dei prefetti di Salomone, preposti al lavoro in numero di tremilatrecento, i quali comandavano la Beit mentre anch’essi lavoravano.
31 At the king's orders they quarried huge stones, special stones for the laying of the temple foundations,dressed stones.	31 Il re aveva ordinato di cavare pietre grosse, pietre pesanti, da porre come fondamenta al tempio, e pietre squadrate.
32 Solomon's workmen and Hiram's workmen and the Giblites cut and assembled the wood and stone forthe building of the Temple.	32 I costruttori di Salomone insieme con i costruttori di Khiram e i Gibliti le sgrossarono e così prepararono il legname e le pietre per la costruzione del tempio.
