1 Solomon was overlord of al the kingdoms from the River to the territory of the Philistines and theEgyptian border. They brought tribute and served him al his life long.	1 Salamon ugyanis hatalmában tartott minden országot a filiszteusok földjének folyójától egészen Egyiptom határáig; mindezek ajándékokat hoztak, s szolgáltak neki élete valamennyi napja alatt.
2 The daily provisions for Solomon were: thirty measures of fine flour and sixty measures of meal,	2 Salamon élelmiszerszükséglete naponkint ez volt: harminc kór lisztláng, hatvan kór liszt,
3 ten fattened oxen, twenty free-grazing oxen, one hundred sheep, besides deer and gazelles, roebucksand fattened poultry.	3 tíz hizlalt marha, húsz legelőről való marha, száz kos, a vadászatból való szarvasokon, vadkecskéken, a bivalyokon, meg a hi zlalt szárnyasokon kívül.
4 For he was master of al Transeuphrates -- of all the kings of Transeuphrates from Tiphsah to Gaza --and he enjoyed peace on al his frontiers.	4 Ő uralkodott ugyanis az egész folyón túli vidéken, Tifszahtól Gázáig s ennek a vidéknek valamennyi királyán, s békessége volt körös-körül minden oldalon,
5 Judah and Israel lived in security, everyone under his vine and his fig tree, from Dan to Beersheba,throughout the lifetime of Solomon.	5 úgyhogy Júda és Izrael minden félelem nélkül lakozott, mindenki a maga szőlőtője és fügefája alatt, Dántól Beersebáig, Salamon valamennyi napja alatt.
6 And Solomon had four thousand stal s of horses for his chariots and twelve thousand cavalrymen.	6 Volt továbbá Salamonnak negyvenezer jászol szekeres lova s tizenkétezer hátaslova.
7 These administrators provided the food for Solomon and for al those who were admitted by him to theroyal table, each for the period of a month; they ensured that nothing was wanting.	7 Ezeket a király fent említett kamarásai élelmezték, s azok látták el Salamon király asztalát is a szükségesekkel, nagy gonddal, mindenki a maga idejében.
8 They also provided the barley and straw for the horses and draught animals, where required, eachaccording to the quota demanded of him.	8 Árpát és szalmát is vittek mindig a paripák s az igásállatok számára arra a helyre, ahol a király volt, mindenki a maga sora szerint.
9 God gave Solomon immense wisdom and understanding, and a heart as vast as the sand on the sea-shore.	9 Adott továbbá Isten Salamonnak bölcsességet, igen nagy okosságot, s olyan bőséges ismereteket, mint a tenger partján levő föveny,
10 The wisdom of Solomon surpassed the wisdom of al the sons of the East and al the wisdom of Egypt.	10 úgyhogy Salamon bölcsessége meghaladta az összes napkeleti és egyiptomi bölcsességét.
11 He was wiser than anyone else, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, than the sons of Mahol, Heman, Calcoland Darda; his fame spread to all the surrounding nations.	11 Bölcsebb volt minden embernél, bölcsebb, mint az ezrahita Etán, meg Hemán, Kálkol és Dorda, Máhol fiai, s hírneve volt minden népnél, körös-körül.
12 He composed three thousand proverbs, and his songs numbered a thousand and five.	12 Háromezer példabeszédet mondott Salamon, s ezeröt éneke volt.
13 He could discourse on plants from the cedar in Lebanon to the hyssop growing on the wal ; and hecould discourse on animals and birds and reptiles and fish.	13 Szólt a fákról, a cédrustól kezdve, amely a Libanonon van egész az izsópig, amely a falból nő ki, szólt a barmokról s a madarakról, a csúszómászókról és a halakról.
14 Men from al nations came to hear Solomon's wisdom, and he received gifts from al the kings in theworld, who had heard of his wisdom.	14 Minden népből jöttek emberek, hogy hallják Salamon bölcsességét, jöttek a föld minden királyától, ahol hallottak bölcsességéről.
15 Hiram king of Tyre sent an embassy to Solomon, having learnt that he had been anointed king insuccession to his father and because Hiram had always been a friend of David.	15 Hírám, Tírusz királya is elküldte szolgáit Salamonhoz, mivel meghallotta, hogy őt kenték fel királlyá apja helyett. Hírám ugyanis barátja volt Dávidnak minden időben.
16 And Solomon sent this message to Hiram,	16 Erre Salamon is elküldött Hírámhoz és ezt üzente:
17 'You are aware that my father David was unable to build a temple for the name of Yahweh his God, onaccount of the wars waged on him from every side, until Yahweh put his enemies under the soles of his feet.	17 »Te tudsz Dávid apám szándékáról s arról, hogy ő nem építhetett házat az Úr, az ő Istene nevének a háborúk miatt, amelyek körös-körül folyton szorongatták, amíg az Úr a lába alá nem vetette ellenségeit.
18 But now Yahweh my God has given me peace on every side: not one enemy, no calamities.	18 Most azonban az Úr, az én Istenem nyugalmat adott nekem körös-körül mindenfelől, s nincs ellenségem, s nem fenyeget baj.
19 I propose, then, to build a temple for the name of Yahweh my God, in accordance with what Yahwehtold my father David, "Your son whom I shall place on your throne to succeed you wil be the man to build atemple for my name."	19 Éppen azért templomot szándékozom építeni az Úr, az én Istenem nevének, ahogy az Úr apámnak, Dávidnak szólt: ‘Fiad, akit helyedbe királyi székedre ültetek, az építsen házat nevemnek.’
20 So now have cedars of Lebanon cut down for me; my servants wil work with your servants, and I shallpay for the hire of your servants at whatever rate you fix. As you know, we have no one as skil ed in felling treesas the Sidonians.'	20 Parancsold meg tehát, hogy vágjanak nekem szolgáid cédrusokat a Libanonról. Szolgáim ott lesznek szolgáiddal, a te szolgáid bérét pedig megadom neked, ahogy csak kívánod. Hiszen tudod, hogy népem között nincs senki sem, aki úgy értene a favágáshoz, mint a szidoniak.«
21 When Hiram heard what Solomon had said, he was delighted. 'Now blessed be Yahweh,' he said, 'whohas given David a wise son to rule over this great people!'	21 Amikor Hírám meghallotta Salamon szavait, igen megörült és azt mondta: »Áldott legyen ma az Úr Isten, aki nagyon bölcs fiat adott Dávidnak e nagyszámú nép királyául.«
22 And Hiram sent word to Solomon, 'I have received your message. For my part, I shall supply you withal you require in the way of cedar wood and juniper.	22 Majd elküldött Hírám Salamonhoz, s ezt üzente: »Tudomásul vettem, amit nekem üzentél, s teljesítem is mindazt, amit a cédrus- és fenyőfák dolgában kívántál.
23 Your servants wil bring these down from Lebanon to the sea, and I shal have them towed by sea toany place you name; I shal discharge them there, and you wil take them over. For your part, you wil see to theprovisioning of my household as I desire.'	23 Szolgáim majd lehozzák őket a Libanonról a tengerre, s én tutajokat rakatok belőlük, s elvitetem a tengeren arra a helyre, amelyet majd kijelölsz nekem, s ott kirakatom őket, s te elviteted, s ellátsz engem a szükségesekkel, hogy élelme legyen házamnak.«
24 So Hiram provided Solomon with al the cedar wood and juniper he wanted	24 Hírám tehát cédrusfát és fenyőfát adott Salamonnak, amennyit csak kívánt.
25 while Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand kor of wheat to feed his household, and twenty thousandkor of pure oil. Solomon gave Hiram this every year.	25 Salamon viszont húszezer kór búzát adott Hírámnak, háza élelmére és húsz kór színtiszta olajat; ezt adta Salamon Hírámnak esztendőről-esztendőre.
26 Yahweh gave Solomon wisdom as he had promised him; good relations persisted between Solomonand Hiram, and the two of them concluded a treaty.	26 Az Úr pedig bölcsességet adott Salamonnak, amint megmondta neki, s békesség volt Hírám és Salamon között és szövetséget kötöttek egymással.
27 King Solomon raised a levy throughout Israel for forced labour: the levy numbered thirty thousand men.	27 Ekkor Salamon király robotmunkásokat szedetett egész Izraelből: a kirendeltség harmincezer emberből állt.
28 He sent these to Lebanon in relays, ten thousand a month; they spent one month in Lebanon and twomonths at home. Adoram was in charge of the forced labour.	28 Ezeket elküldte a Libanonra, tíz-tízezret havonként, felváltva, úgyhogy két-két hónapig odahaza voltak. Adonirám volt e kirendeltség felügyelője.
29 Solomon also had seventy thousand porters and eighty thousand quarrymen in the mountains,	29 Volt továbbá Salamonnak hetvenezer teherhordozója s nyolcvanezer kőfejtője a hegységben,
30 as wel as the administrators, officials who supervised the work, three thousand three hundred of themin charge of the men employed in the work.	30 azokon a felügyelőkön kívül, akik az egyes munkákat vezették és szám szerint háromezer-háromszázan voltak, s a népnek és a munkásoknak parancsoltak.
31 At the king's orders they quarried huge stones, special stones for the laying of the temple foundations,dressed stones.	31 Majd megparancsolta a király, hogy nagy köveket, értékes köveket fejtsenek a templom alapjául, s faragják négyszögűre őket.
32 Solomon's workmen and Hiram's workmen and the Giblites cut and assembled the wood and stone forthe building of the Temple.	32 Ki is faragták őket Salamon kőművesei és Hírám kőművesei, a gebáliak pedig elkészítették a fát és a köveket a ház építéséhez.
