NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Solomon was overlord of al the kingdoms from the River to the territory of the Philistines and theEgyptian border. They brought tribute and served him al his life long.	1 Salomón dominaba sobre todos los reinos, desde el Río hasta el país de los filisteos y hasta la frontera de Egipto. Ellos pagaban un tributo y estuvieron sometidos a Salomón durante toda su vida.
2 The daily provisions for Solomon were: thirty measures of fine flour and sixty measures of meal,	2 Los víveres que Salomón recibía cada día eran estos: treinta barriles de harina de la mejor calidad y sesenta de harina común;
3 ten fattened oxen, twenty free-grazing oxen, one hundred sheep, besides deer and gazelles, roebucksand fattened poultry.	3 diez bueyes cebados, veinte bueyes de pastoreo y cien reses de ganado menor, sin contar los ciervos, las gacelas, los antílopes y las aves de corral.
4 For he was master of al Transeuphrates -- of all the kings of Transeuphrates from Tiphsah to Gaza --and he enjoyed peace on al his frontiers.	4 El dominaba sobre toda la región comprendida entre el Eufrates y el Mar, desde Tifsá hasta Gaza, sobre todos los reyes que estaban más acá del Eufrates, y gozó de paz en todas sus fronteras.
5 Judah and Israel lived in security, everyone under his vine and his fig tree, from Dan to Beersheba,throughout the lifetime of Solomon.	5 Judá e Israel vivieron seguros, cada uno bajo su parra y bajo su higuera, desde Dan hasta Berseba, durante todos los días de Salomón.
6 And Solomon had four thousand stal s of horses for his chariots and twelve thousand cavalrymen.	6 Salomón tenía cuatro mil establos para los caballos de sus carros, y doce mil caballos de montar.
7 These administrators provided the food for Solomon and for al those who were admitted by him to theroyal table, each for the period of a month; they ensured that nothing was wanting.	7 Los prefectos, cada uno en el mes que le correspondía, abastecían al rey Salomón y a todos aquellos que eran recibidos en su mesa, sin dejar faltar nada.
8 They also provided the barley and straw for the horses and draught animals, where required, eachaccording to the quota demanded of him.	8 En cuanto a la cebada y al forraje para los caballos y los animales de tiro, lo llevaban al lugar donde se encontraba el rey, cada uno según la consigna recibida.
9 God gave Solomon immense wisdom and understanding, and a heart as vast as the sand on the sea-shore.	9 Dios concedió a Salomón una sabiduría y una inteligencia extremadamente grandes, y tanta amplitud de espíritu cuanta arena hay en las playas del mar.
10 The wisdom of Solomon surpassed the wisdom of al the sons of the East and al the wisdom of Egypt.	10 La sabiduría de Salomón superaba la de todos los Orientales y toda la sabiduría de Egipto.
11 He was wiser than anyone else, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, than the sons of Mahol, Heman, Calcoland Darda; his fame spread to all the surrounding nations.	11 El fue el más sabio de los hombres, más sabio que Etán, el ezrajita, más que Hernán, Calcol y Dardá, los hijos de Majol. Su renombre se extendía por todas las naciones vecinas.
12 He composed three thousand proverbs, and his songs numbered a thousand and five.	12 Pronunció tres mil máximas, y sus poemas fueron mil cinco.
13 He could discourse on plants from the cedar in Lebanon to the hyssop growing on the wal ; and hecould discourse on animals and birds and reptiles and fish.	13 Trató acerca de las plantas, tanto del cedro del Líbano como del hisopo que crece en los muros; también trató acerca de los cuadrúpedos, de los pájaros, de los reptiles y de los peces.
14 Men from al nations came to hear Solomon's wisdom, and he received gifts from al the kings in theworld, who had heard of his wisdom.	14 De todos los pueblos, y de parte de todos los reyes de la tierra que habían oído hablar de la sabiduría del rey Salomón, acudía gente para escuchar su sabiduría.
15 Hiram king of Tyre sent an embassy to Solomon, having learnt that he had been anointed king insuccession to his father and because Hiram had always been a friend of David.	15 Jiram, rey de Tiro, envió una embajada a Salomón, porque se enteró de que lo habían ungido rey en lugar de su padre David, y él había sido siempre amigo de David.
16 And Solomon sent this message to Hiram,	16 Entonces Salomón mandó a decir a Jiram:
17 'You are aware that my father David was unable to build a temple for the name of Yahweh his God, onaccount of the wars waged on him from every side, until Yahweh put his enemies under the soles of his feet.	17 «Tú sabes bien que mi padre David no pudo construir una Casa para el Nombre del Señor, su Dios, a causa de las guerras en que se vio envuelto, hasta que el Señor puso a todos sus enemigos bajo la planta de sus pies.
18 But now Yahweh my God has given me peace on every side: not one enemy, no calamities.	18 Pero ahora el Señor, mi Dios, me ha dado la paz en todas mis fronteras: ya no hay adversarios ni contratiempos.
19 I propose, then, to build a temple for the name of Yahweh my God, in accordance with what Yahwehtold my father David, "Your son whom I shall place on your throne to succeed you wil be the man to build atemple for my name."	19 Por eso he pensado edificar una Casa para el Nombre del Señor, mi Dios, conforme a lo que dijo el Señor a mi padre David: «Tu hijo, el que yo pondré sobre tu trono en lugar de ti, será el que construirá la Casa para mi Nombre:.
20 So now have cedars of Lebanon cut down for me; my servants wil work with your servants, and I shallpay for the hire of your servants at whatever rate you fix. As you know, we have no one as skil ed in felling treesas the Sidonians.'	20 Ahora, ordena que corten para mí cedros en el Líbano; mis servidores trabajarán con los tuyos, y yo te entregaré como salario de tus servidores todo lo que tú digas. Porque sabes bien que no hay nadie que sea cortar árboles como los sidonios».
21 When Hiram heard what Solomon had said, he was delighted. 'Now blessed be Yahweh,' he said, 'whohas given David a wise son to rule over this great people!'	21 Cuando Jiram oyó las palabras de Salomón, sintió una gran alegría y exclamó: «¡Bendito sea hoy el Señor, que ha dado a David un hijo sabio, para que esté al frente de ese pueblo tan numeroso!».
22 And Hiram sent word to Solomon, 'I have received your message. For my part, I shall supply you withal you require in the way of cedar wood and juniper.	22 Luego Jiram mandó decir a Salomón: «He recibido tu mensaje. En lo que a mí respecta, haré todo lo que deseas, enviando madera de cedro y de ciprés.
23 Your servants wil bring these down from Lebanon to the sea, and I shal have them towed by sea toany place you name; I shal discharge them there, and you wil take them over. For your part, you wil see to theprovisioning of my household as I desire.'	23 Mis servidores bajarán los troncos desde el Líbano hasta el Mar, y yo haré con ellos balsas para transportarlos por mar hasta el lugar que tú me indiques; allí haré desatar los troncos, y tú los recogerás. Tú, por tu parte, cumplirás mi deseo proveyendo de víveres a mi casa».
24 So Hiram provided Solomon with al the cedar wood and juniper he wanted	24 Jiram entregaba a Salomón toda la madera de cedro y de ciprés que él quería,
25 while Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand kor of wheat to feed his household, and twenty thousandkor of pure oil. Solomon gave Hiram this every year.	25 y Salomón le dio a Jiram veinte mil barriles de trigo para la manutención de su casa, más veinte mil cántaros de aceite puro de oliva. Esto era lo que Salomón entregaba a Jiram anualmente.
26 Yahweh gave Solomon wisdom as he had promised him; good relations persisted between Solomonand Hiram, and the two of them concluded a treaty.	26 El Señor dio sabiduría a Salomón, tal como se lo había prometido. Jiram y Salomón vivieron en perfecta armonía, y entre los dos concluyeron un pacto.
27 King Solomon raised a levy throughout Israel for forced labour: the levy numbered thirty thousand men.	27 El rey Salomón hizo un reclutamiento de obreros en todo Israel: los reclutados fueron treinta mil.
28 He sent these to Lebanon in relays, ten thousand a month; they spent one month in Lebanon and twomonths at home. Adoram was in charge of the forced labour.	28 Luego los envió al Líbano por turnos, dos mil por mes. Así estaban un mes en el Líbano y dos meses en su casa. Adoniram era el encargado del reclutamiento.
29 Solomon also had seventy thousand porters and eighty thousand quarrymen in the mountains,	29 Salomón tenía además setenta mil hombres que transportaban las cargas, y ochenta mil canteros en la montaña,
30 as wel as the administrators, officials who supervised the work, three thousand three hundred of themin charge of the men employed in the work.	30 aparte de los capataces puestos por Salomón para supervisar los trabajos: eran tres mil trescientos hombres, que dirigían a los que ejecutaban los trabajos.
31 At the king's orders they quarried huge stones, special stones for the laying of the temple foundations,dressed stones.	31 El rey mandó extraer grandes bloques de piedras, bien seleccionadas, para poner con piedras talladas los cimientos de la Casa.
32 Solomon's workmen and Hiram's workmen and the Giblites cut and assembled the wood and stone forthe building of the Temple.	32 Los obreros de Salomón, junto con los de Jiram y los venidos de Guebal, tallaron y prepararon las maderas y las piedras para edificar la Casa.
