1 At that time Abijah, Jeroboam's son, fel sick,	1 In quel tempo Abìa figliuolo di Geroboam si ammalò.
2 and Jeroboam said to his wife, 'Come, please disguise yourself so that no one will recognise you asJeroboam's wife, and go to Shiloh; the prophet Ahijah is there, the man who said I was to be king of this people.	2 E Geroboam disse a sua moglie: Va, cambia di vestito, affinchè non sii riconosciuta per moglie di Geroboam, e va a Silo, dove è Ahia profeta, il quale mi predisse ch'io sarei stato re di questo popolo.
3 Go to him, and take ten loaves and some savoury food and a jar of honey; he wil tell you what wilhappen to the child.'	3 Prendi ancora teco dieci pani, una torta, e un vaso di miele, e va a trovarlo; perocché egli ti dirà quello, che abbia da essere di questo fanciullo.
4 Jeroboam's wife did this: she set out, went to Shiloh and came to Ahijah's house.	4 Fece la moglie di Geroboam quello, che egli le avea detto; e si partì, e andò a Silo, e giunse a casa ai Ahia. Or egli non potea vedere; perocché se gli era offuscata la vista per la vecchiezza.
5 Now Ahijah could not see, his eyes were fixed with age, but Yahweh had told him, 'Jeroboam's wife isnow on her way to ask you for a prophecy about her son, as he is sick. You wil tel her such and such. Whenshe comes, she wil pretend to be some other woman.'	5 Ma il Signore disse ad Ahia: Ecco la moglie di Geroboam, la quale viene a consultarti riguardo al suo figliuolo, che è ammalato: tu le dirai questo, e questo. Mentre adunque ella entrava nascondendo il suo essere,
6 So when Ahijah heard her footsteps at the door, he cal ed, 'Come in, wife of Jeroboam; why pretend tobe someone else? I have bad news for you.	6 Sentì Ahia il rumor de' piedi di lei, che entrava nella porta, e disse Entra pure, moglie di Geroboam: per qual motivo ti fingi tutt' altra? or io son mandato a darti cattive nuove.
7 Go and tell Jeroboam, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: I raised you from the people and made youleader of my people Israel;	7 Va, e dì a Jeroboam: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio d'Israele: Io ti ho esaltato dalla turba del popolo, e ti ho fatto capo del popol mio d'Israele:
8 I tore the kingdom from the House of David and gave it to you. But you have not been like my servantDavid who kept my commandments and followed me with al his heart, doing only what I regard as right;	8 E ho spezzato il regno della casa di Davidde, e l'ho dato a te; ma tu non se' stato qual fu il mio servo Davidde, il quale osservò i miei comandamenti, e seguì me con tutto il cuor suo, facendo quello, che piaceva a me:
9 you have done more evil than all your predecessors, you have gone and made yourself other gods,idols of cast metal, provoking my anger, and you have turned your back on me.	9 Ma tu hai fatto del male più di tutti quelli, che furono prima di te, e ti se' fatti degli dei stranieri, e di getto, per provocare il mio sdegno, e hai gettato me dietro alle tue spalle:
10 For this I shal bring disaster on the House of Jeroboam, I shal wipe out every manjack of the familyof Jeroboam, fettered or free in Israel, I shal sweep away the House of Jeroboam as a man sweeps dung awaytill none is left.	10 Per questo ecco, che io pioverò sciagure sopra la casa di Geroboam, e ucciderò della casa di Geroboam fino i cani, e i rinchiusi, e gli ultimi d'Israele; e spazzerò gli avanzi della casa di Geroboam, come suole spazzarsi lo sterco fino all'intera ripulitura.
11 Those of Jeroboam's family who die in the city, the dogs wil eat; and those who die in the opencountry, the birds of the air wil eat, for Yahweh has spoken."	11 Quelli della casa di Geroboam, che morranno in città, saran mangiati da' cani: e quelli, che resteran morti in campagna, li divoreranno gli uccelli dell'aria; perocché il Signore ha parlato.
12 Now get up and go home; at the moment your feet enter the town, the child will die.	12 Tu pertanto parti, e vattene a casa tua, e in quel punto che tu porrai il piede in città, morrà il fanciullo,
13 Al Israel wil mourn for him, and bury him; and he alone of Jeroboam's family will have a properburial, for in him alone of the House of Jeroboam can Yahweh, God of Israel, find anything good.	13 E tutto Israele lo piangerà, e gli darà sepoltura; imperocché questi è il solo della stirpe di Geroboam, che sarà messo nel sepolcro, perchè in lui il Signore Dio d'Israele ha trovato del bene in casa di Geroboam.
14 Yahweh wil set a king over Israel, who will put an end to the House of Jeroboam.	14 Or il Signore si è eletto un re per Israele, il quale sterminerà la casa di Geroboam in questo dì, e in questo tempo:
15 Yahweh wil make Israel shake, til it quivers like a reed in the water; he will uproot Israel from thisprosperous land which he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the River for provoking Yahweh toanger by making their sacred poles.	15 E il Signore Dio sconvolgerà Israele, come una canna è agitata dalle acque, ed estirperà Israele da questa buona terra data da lui ai padri loro, e gli sperpera oltre il fiume, perchè hanno dedicati dei boschetti, per irritare il Signore.
16 He wil abandon Israel for the sins which Jeroboam has committed and made Israel commit.'	16 E il Signore lascerà in abbandono Israele pei peccati di Geroboam, il quale peccò, e fece peccare Israele.
17 Jeroboam's wife rose and left. She arrived at Tirzah, and when she crossed the threshold of thepalace, the child was already dead.	17 Si partì adunque la moglie di Geroboam, e se n'andò a Thersa, e mentre ella metteva il piede sulla soglia di casa, il fanciullo morì,
18 They buried him, and al Israel mourned for him, just as Yahweh had foretold through his servantAhijah the prophet.	18 E lo seppellirono: e tutto Israele le pianse secondo la parola detta dal Signore per bocca di Ahia profeta suo servo.
19 The rest of the history of Jeroboam, what wars he waged, how he governed, this is recorded in theBook of the Annals of the Kings of Israel.	19 Il resto poi delle azioni di Geroboam, e le sue guerre, e in qual modo ei regnasse, tutte queste cose sono scritti nel Giornale dei re d'Israele.
20 Jeroboam's reign lasted twenty-two years. Then he fel asleep with his ancestors; his son Nadabsucceeded him.	20 E la durata del regno di Geroboam, fu di ventidue anni; e si addormentò co' padri suoi: e gli succedette nel regno Nadab suo figliuolo.
21 In Judah, Rehoboam son of Solomon became king; he was forty-one years old when he came to thethrone and he reigned for seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of al the tribesof Israel, to give his name a home there. His mother's name was Naamah, the Ammonite.	21 Roboamo poi figliuolo di Salomone regnò in Giuda. Quarant'un anno avea Roboamo, guando cominciò a regnare: e regnò diciassette anni in Gerusalemme città eletta dal Signore tra tutte le tribù d'Israele, per istabilirvi il suo nome. La madre sua chiamavasi Naama, ed era Ammonita.
22 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, arousing his resentment more than his ancestors by al the sinswhich they had committed;	22 E Giuda fece il male al cospetto del Signore, ed essi lo irritarono più di quello, che avesser fatto con tutte le loro male opere i padri loro.
23 they had built themselves high places, and had set up pil ars and sacred poles on every high hil andunder every spreading tree.	23 Perocché eglino pure si eressero altari, e statue, e boschetti sopra tutte le alte colline, e sotto ogni albero ombroso.
24 There were even male sacred prostitutes in the country. He copied all the shameful practices of thenations whom Yahweh had dispossessed for the Israelites.	24 E oltre a questo eranvi nel paese dei giovani effeminati, i quali, rinnovellarono tutte le abominazioni delle genti, le quali il Signore distrusse all'arrivo de' figliuoli d'Israele.
25 And so it happened that in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt advanced onJerusalem	25 Or l'anno quinto del regno di Roboamo, Sesac re d'Egitto venne a Gerusalemme.
26 and carried off all the treasures of the Temple of Yahweh and the treasures of the royal palace; hetook everything away, including al the golden shields which Solomon had made.	26 E portò via i tesori della casa del Signore, e i tesori del re, e depredò ogni cosa, e fino gli scudi d'oro fatti da Salomone:
27 To replace those King Rehoboam made bronze shields, entrusting them to the commanders of theguard who guarded the king's palace gate.	27 In vece de' quali il re Roboamo fece degli scudi di bronzo, e li pose nelle mani dei capitani delle guardie, e di quelli, che facevano sentinella dinanzi alla porta della casa del re.
28 Whenever the king went to the Temple of Yahweh, the guards would carry them, returning them to theguardroom afterwards.	28 E quando il re entrava nella casa del Signore, li portavano quelli, che dovean precederlo; e poi li riportavano all'arsenale delle guardie.
29 The rest of the history of Rehoboam, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annalsof the Kings of Judah?	29 Il resto poi delle azioni di Roboamo, e tutto quello, ch'ei fece, sta scritto nel Giornale delle cose dei re di Giuda.
30 Warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam went on throughout the period.	30 E fu guerra continua tra Roboamo, e Geroboam.
31 When Rehoboam fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of David; his son Abijamsucceeded him.	31 E Roboamo si addormentò co' padri suoi, e fu con essi sepolto nella città di Davidde: il nome poi di sua madre fu Naama, ed ella era Ammonita. E il suo figliuolo Abiam fu suo successore nel regno.
