1 At that time Abijah, Jeroboam's son, fel sick,	1 Ugyanebben az időben megbetegedett Ábia, Jeroboám fia.
2 and Jeroboam said to his wife, 'Come, please disguise yourself so that no one will recognise you asJeroboam's wife, and go to Shiloh; the prophet Ahijah is there, the man who said I was to be king of this people.	2 Azt mondta ekkor Jeroboám a feleségének: »Kelj fel, cserélj ruhát, hogy ne ismerjenek meg, hogy te vagy Jeroboám felesége, s eredj el Silóba, ahol Ahiás próféta van, aki megmondta nekem, hogy királya leszek e népnek.
3 Go to him, and take ten loaves and some savoury food and a jar of honey; he wil tell you what wilhappen to the child.'	3 Végy kezedbe tíz kenyeret is, meg egy lepényt és egy edény mézet, s eredj el hozzá: ő majd közli veled, mi lesz e gyermekkel.«
4 Jeroboam's wife did this: she set out, went to Shiloh and came to Ahijah's house.	4 Úgy cselekedett Jeroboám felesége, ahogy ő mondta, s felkelt, s elment Silóba, s betért Ahiás házába; ez azonban már nem látott, mert szeme az öregségtől elhomályosodott.
5 Now Ahijah could not see, his eyes were fixed with age, but Yahweh had told him, 'Jeroboam's wife isnow on her way to ask you for a prophecy about her son, as he is sick. You wil tel her such and such. Whenshe comes, she wil pretend to be some other woman.'	5 Azt mondta azonban az Úr Ahiásnak: »Íme, Jeroboám felesége jött, hogy megkérdezzen téged beteg fia felől. Ezt és ezt mondd neki.« – Amikor tehát az kilétét titkolva bement,
6 So when Ahijah heard her footsteps at the door, he cal ed, 'Come in, wife of Jeroboam; why pretend tobe someone else? I have bad news for you.	6 s Ahiás meghallotta lába neszét, amint az ajtóhoz lépett, azt mondta: »Gyere csak be, Jeroboám felesége, miért tetteted magadat másnak? 7 Go and tell Jeroboam, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: I raised you from the people and made youleader of my people Israel;	7 Eredj, s mondd Jeroboámnak: ‘Ezt üzeni az Úr, Izrael Istene: Mivel én felemeltelek téged a nép közül, s népemnek, Izraelnek fejedelmévé tettelek,
8 I tore the kingdom from the House of David and gave it to you. But you have not been like my servantDavid who kept my commandments and followed me with al his heart, doing only what I regard as right;	8 s elszakítottam a királyságot Dávid házától, s neked adtam, te azonban nem voltál olyan, mint szolgám, Dávid, aki megtartotta parancsaimat, s teljes szívéből követett engem, s azt cselekedte, ami kedves az én színem előtt,
9 you have done more evil than all your predecessors, you have gone and made yourself other gods,idols of cast metal, provoking my anger, and you have turned your back on me.	9 hanem gonoszabbul cselekedtél, mint mindazok, akik előtted voltak, s más, öntött isteneket csináltattál magadnak, hogy haragra ingerelj, engem pedig a hátad mögé vetettél:
10 For this I shal bring disaster on the House of Jeroboam, I shal wipe out every manjack of the familyof Jeroboam, fettered or free in Israel, I shal sweep away the House of Jeroboam as a man sweeps dung awaytill none is left.	10 azért íme, én nyomorúságot hozok Jeroboám házára, s kiirtom Jeroboám minden férfiát, a bezártat is, az utolsót is Izraelben és úgy elsöpröm Jeroboám házának utódait, mint ahogy a trágyát szokták elsöpörni egészen tisztára.
11 Those of Jeroboam's family who die in the city, the dogs wil eat; and those who die in the opencountry, the birds of the air wil eat, for Yahweh has spoken."	11 Akije a városban hal meg Jeroboámnak, azt a kutyák eszik meg, akije pedig a mezőn hal meg, azt az ég madarai falják fel, mert az Úr így szólt.
12 Now get up and go home; at the moment your feet enter the town, the child will die.	12 Te pedig kelj fel, s menj házadba, s mihelyt lábad a városba lép, meghal a gyermek,
13 Al Israel wil mourn for him, and bury him; and he alone of Jeroboam's family will have a properburial, for in him alone of the House of Jeroboam can Yahweh, God of Israel, find anything good.	13 s elsiratja egész Izrael és el is temeti: mert egyedül ő kerül sírba Jeroboám ivadékai közül, mert Jeroboám házában csak benne talált jót az Úr, Izrael Istene.
14 Yahweh wil set a king over Israel, who will put an end to the House of Jeroboam.	14 Aztán majd királyt támaszt az Úr magának Izrael számára, s az megveri Jeroboám házát azon a napon s abban az időben
15 Yahweh wil make Israel shake, til it quivers like a reed in the water; he will uproot Israel from thisprosperous land which he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the River for provoking Yahweh toanger by making their sacred poles.	15 és úgy megveri az Úr Isten Izraelt, hogy úgy fog ingadozni, mint a nád a vízben, s kitépi Izraelt erről a jó földről, amelyet atyáinak adott, s elszórja őket a folyóvízen túlra, mivel berkeket csináltak maguknak, hogy bosszantsák az Urat
16 He wil abandon Israel for the sins which Jeroboam has committed and made Israel commit.'	16 és kiszolgáltatja az Úr Izraelt Jeroboámnak azon vétkei miatt, amelyekkel vétkezett, s vétekbe vitte Izraelt.’«
17 Jeroboam's wife rose and left. She arrived at Tirzah, and when she crossed the threshold of thepalace, the child was already dead.	17 Felkelt tehát Jeroboám felesége, s elment, s eljutott Tircába, s amint belépett a ház küszöbén, meghalt a gyermek;
18 They buried him, and al Israel mourned for him, just as Yahweh had foretold through his servantAhijah the prophet.	18 el is temették, s el is siratta őt egész Izrael az Úr beszéde szerint, amelyet szolgája, Ahiás próféta által szólt.
19 The rest of the history of Jeroboam, what wars he waged, how he governed, this is recorded in theBook of the Annals of the Kings of Israel.	19 Jeroboám egyéb dolgai pedig, hogy miként hadakozott, s miként uralkodott, íme, meg vannak írva Izrael királyainak krónikás könyvében.
20 Jeroboam's reign lasted twenty-two years. Then he fel asleep with his ancestors; his son Nadabsucceeded him.	20 Az idő pedig, amíg Jeroboám uralkodott, huszonkét esztendő volt: aztán aludni tért atyáihoz, s fia, Nádáb lett a király helyette.
21 In Judah, Rehoboam son of Solomon became king; he was forty-one years old when he came to thethrone and he reigned for seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of al the tribesof Israel, to give his name a home there. His mother's name was Naamah, the Ammonite.	21 Tehát Roboám, Salamon fia lett a király Júdában. Negyvenegy esztendős volt Roboám, amikor uralkodni kezdett, s tizenhét esztendeig uralkodott Jeruzsálemben, abban a városban, amelyet az Úr kiválasztott Izrael minden törzse közül, hogy odahelyezze nevét. Anyját, aki ammonita volt, Naámának hívták.
22 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, arousing his resentment more than his ancestors by al the sinswhich they had committed;	22 Ekkor Júda azt cselekedte, ami gonosz az Úr előtt, s jobban ingerelték Őt mindannál, amit atyáik cselekedtek vétkeikkel, amelyeket elkövettek.
23 they had built themselves high places, and had set up pil ars and sacred poles on every high hil andunder every spreading tree.	23 Ők is építettek ugyanis maguknak oltárokat, oszlopokat és berkeket minden magas dombon s minden lombos fa alatt,
24 There were even male sacred prostitutes in the country. He copied all the shameful practices of thenations whom Yahweh had dispossessed for the Israelites.	24 sőt fiúszeretők is voltak az országban, s azoknak a népeknek minden undokságát elkövették, amelyeket az Úr eltörölt Izrael fiainak színe elől.
25 And so it happened that in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt advanced onJerusalem	25 Roboám királyságának ötödik esztendejében aztán felvonult Sesák, Egyiptom királya, Jeruzsálembe,
26 and carried off all the treasures of the Temple of Yahweh and the treasures of the royal palace; hetook everything away, including al the golden shields which Solomon had made.	26 s elvitte az Úr házának kincseit s a királyi kincseket, s elrabolt mindent, azokat az aranypajzsokat is, amelyeket Salamon készíttetett.
27 To replace those King Rehoboam made bronze shields, entrusting them to the commanders of theguard who guarded the king's palace gate.	27 Ezek helyett Roboám király rézpajzsokat készíttetett, s azokat adta a pajzsosok vezéreinek kezébe s azok kezébe, akik a király házának ajtajában őrködtek.
28 Whenever the king went to the Temple of Yahweh, the guards would carry them, returning them to theguardroom afterwards.	28 Valahányszor a király az Úr házába ment, felvették őket azok, akiknek az volt a tisztük, hogy előtte vonuljanak, aztán megint visszavitték a pajzsosok fegyvertárába.
29 The rest of the history of Rehoboam, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annalsof the Kings of Judah?	29 Roboám egyéb dolgai pedig s mindaz, amit cselekedett, íme, meg vannak írva Júda királyainak krónikás könyvében.
30 Warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam went on throughout the period.	30 Roboám és Jeroboám között ugyanis háború volt minden időben.
31 When Rehoboam fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of David; his son Abijamsucceeded him.	31 Amikor aztán Roboám aludni tért atyáihoz, eltemették melléjük Dávid városában anyját, aki ammonita volt, s Naámának hívták. Ezután a fia, Abia lett a király helyette.
