NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's fame and came to test him with difficult questions.	1 La reina de Sabá oyó hablar de la fama de Salomón, y fue a ponerlo a prueba, proponiéndole unos enigmas.
2 She arrived in Jerusalem with a very large retinue, with camels laden with spices and an immensequantity of gold and precious stones. Having reached Solomon, she discussed with him everything that she hadin mind,	2 Llegó a Jerusalén con un séquito imponente, con camellos cargados de perfumes, de muchísimo oro y de piedras preciosas. Cuando se presentó ante Salomón, le expuso todo lo que tenía pensando decirle.
3 and Solomon had an answer for al her questions; not one of them was too obscure for the king toanswer for her.	3 Salomón respondió a todas sus preguntas: no hubo para el rey ninguna cuestión tan oscura que no se la pudiera explicar.
4 When the queen of Sheba saw how very wise Solomon was, the palace which he had built,	4 Cuando la reina de Sabá vio toda la sabiduría de Salomón, la casa que había construido,
5 the food at his table, the accommodation for his officials, the organisation of his staff and the way theywere dressed, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings which he presented in the Temple of Yahweh, it left herbreathless,	5 los manjares de su mesa, los aposentos de sus servidores, el porte y las libreas de sus camareros, sus coperos y los holocaustos que ofrecía en la Casa del Señor, se quedó sin aliento
6 and she said to the king, 'The report I heard in my own country about your wisdom in handling youraffairs was true then!	6 y dijo al rey: «¡Realmente era verdad lo que había oído decir en mi país acerca de ti y de tu sabiduría!
7 Until I came and saw for myself, I did not believe the reports, but clearly I was told less than half: forwisdom and prosperity, you surpass what was reported to me.	7 Yo no lo quería creer, sin venir antes a verlo con mis propios ojos. Pero ahora compruebo que no me habían contado ni siquiera la mitad: tu sabiduría y tus riquezas superan la fama que llegó a mis oídos.
8 How fortunate your wives are! How fortunate these courtiers of yours, continual y in attendance on youand listening to your wisdom!	8 ¡Felices tus mujeres, felices también estos servidores tuyos, que están constantemente delante de ti, escuchando tu sabiduría!
9 Blessed be Yahweh your God who has shown you his favour by setting you on the throne of Israel!Because of Yahweh's everlasting love for Israel, he has made you king to administer law and justice.'	9 ¡Y bendito sea el Señor, tu Dios, que te ha mostrado su favor poniéndote sobre el trono de Israel! Sí, por su amor eterno a Israel, el Señor te estableció como rey para que ejercieras el derecho y la justicia».
10 And she presented the king with a hundred and twenty talents of gold and great quantities of spicesand precious stones; no such wealth of spices ever came again as those which the queen of Sheba gave to KingSolomon.	10 La reina regaló al rey ciento veinte talentos de oro, una enorme cantidad de perfumes y piedras preciosas; nunca más se recibieron tantos perfumes como los que la reina de Sabá dio al rey Salomón.
11 Similarly, Hiram's fleet, which brought the gold from Ophir, also brought back great cargoes of almugtimber and precious stones.	11 La flota de Jiram, que había transportado el oro de Ofir, trajo también de allí madera de sándalo en gran cantidad y piedras preciosas.
12 Of the almug timber the king made supports for the Temple of Yahweh and for the royal palace, andharps and lyres for the musicians; no more of this almug timber has since come or been seen to this day.	12 Con la madera de sándalo, el rey hizo unas balaustradas para la Casa del Señor y para la casa del rey, y también cítaras y arpas para los músicos. Nunca más se recibió una madera de sándalo como aquella, ni se la vio más hasta el día de hoy.
13 And King Solomon, in his turn, presented the queen of Sheba with everything that she expressed awish for, besides those presents which he gave her with a munificence worthy of King Solomon. After which, shewent home to her own country, she and her servants.	13 Por su parte, el rey Salomón dio a la reina de Sabá todo lo que a ella se le ocurrió pedir, aparte de los regalos que le hizo como sólo podía hacerlo el rey Salomón. Después ella emprendió el camino de regreso a su país, acompañada de su séquito.
14 The weight of gold received annually by Solomon amounted to six hundred and sixty-six talents ofgold,	14 El peso del oro que recibía Salomón en un solo año ascendía a los seiscientos sesenta y seis talentos,
15 besides what tol s and foreign trade, as well as everything the Arab kings and the provincial governorsbrought in.	15 sin contar lo que aportaban el tránsito de viajantes, el tráfico de mercaderes, todos los reyes de Arabia y los gobernadores del país.
16 King Solomon made two hundred great shields of beaten gold, six hundred shekels of gold going intoone shield;	16 El rey Salomón hizo doscientos grandes escudos de oro trabajado a martillo, empleando para cada uno seiscientos siclos de oro,
17 also three hundred small shields of beaten gold, three mina of gold going into one shield; and the kingput these into the House of the Forest of Lebanon.	17 y trescientos escudos más pequeños, también de oro trabajado a martillo, empleando para cada uno seiscientos siclos de oro, Luego el rey los ubicó en la sala llamada Bosque del Líbano.
18 The king also made a great ivory throne which he overlaid with refined gold.	18 El rey hizo, además, un gran trono de marfil, al que recubrió de oro fino.
19 The throne had six steps, a back with a rounded top, and arms on each side of the seat; two lionsstood beside the arms,	19 El trono tenía seis gradas, unas cabezas de toros en la parte posterior, y brazos a ambos lados del asiento; junto a los brazos había dos leones de pie,
20 and twelve lions stood on each side of the six steps. Nothing like it has ever been made in any otherkingdom.	20 y otros doce leones de pie sobre las seis gradas, a uno y otro lado. En ningún reino se había hecho nada igual.
21 Al King Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and al the plate in the House of the Forest ofLebanon was of pure gold; silver was little thought of in Solomon's days,	21 Toda la vajilla del rey Salomón era de oro, y todo el mobiliario de la sala llamada Bosque del Líbano, de oro fino; no se usaba la plata, a la que en tiempos de Salomón no se la tenía en cuenta para nada.
22 since the king had a fleet of Tarshish at sea with Hiram's fleet, and once every three years the fleet ofTarshish would come back laden with gold and silver, ivory, apes and baboons.	22 Porque el rey tenía en el mar una flota mercante, junto con la flota de Jiram, y una vez cada tres años las naves llegaban cargadas de oro, plata, marfil, monos y pavos reales.
23 For riches and for wisdom, King Solomon surpassed al kings on earth,	23 El rey Salomón superó a todos los reyes de la tierra en riqueza y sabiduría.
24 and the whole world consulted Solomon to hear the wisdom which God had implanted in his heart;	24 Todo el mundo trataba de ver a Salomón para oír la sabiduría que Dios había puesto en su corazón.
25 and everyone would bring a present with him: things made of silver, things made of gold, robes,armour, spices, horses and mules; and this went on year after year.	25 Y cada uno aportaba sus presentes: objetos de plata y oro, trajes, armas, perfumes, caballos y mulas. Así, año tras año.
26 Solomon then built up a force of chariots and cavalry; he had one thousand four hundred chariots andtwelve thousand horses, these he stationed in the chariot towns and near the king in Jerusalem.	26 Salomón reunió también carros y caballos: llegó a tener mil cuatrocientos carros y doce mil caballos, que acantonó en las ciudades de guarnición y en Jerusalén, junto a él.
27 In Jerusalem the king made silver as common as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful as sycamore inthe lowlands.	27 El rey hizo que la plata fuera en Jerusalén tan común como las piedras, y que la madera de cedro fuera tan abundante como los sicómoros de la Sefelá.
28 Solomon's horses were imported from Muzur and Cilicia. The king's dealers acquired them fromCilicia at the prevailing price.	28 Los caballos de Salomón procedían de Musrí y de Cilicia. Los agentes del rey los adquirían en Cilicia, a un precio fijo.
29 A chariot was imported from Egypt for six hundred silver shekels and a horse from Cilicia for ahundred and fifty. They also supplied the Hittite and Aramaean kings, who al used them as middlemen.	29 Cada carro importado de Musrí costaba seiscientos siclos de plata; cada caballo, ciento cincuenta. En las mismas condiciones, por medio de esos agentes, se exportaban para todos los reyes hititas y para los reyes de Aram.
