2 Samuel 21

1 In the days of David there was a famine which lasted for three years on end. David consulted Yahweh,and Yahweh said, 'Saul and his family have incurred blood-guilt, by putting the Gibeonites to death.'	1 Al tempo di David vi fu carestia per tre anni continui, e avendo David consultato l'oracolo del Signore, il Signore rispose: « E' colpa di Saul e della sua casa di sangue, perchè egli uccise i Gabaoniti ».
2 Then the king summoned the Gibeonites and said-now, the Gibeonites were not Israelites, but were aremnant of the Amorites, to whom the Israelites had bound themselves by oath; Saul, however, in his zeal for theIsraelites and for Judah, had done his best to exterminate them -- hence David said to the Gibeonites,	2 Il re allora chiamò i Gabaoniti e disse loro. (Or i Gabaoniti non eran dei figli d'Israele, erano avanzi degli Amorrei; ma gl'israeliti avevan loro giurato: però Saul volle ucciderli, mosso da zelo, quasi ottenesse con ciò il bene dei figli d'Israele e di Giuda).
3 'What can I do for you? How can I make amends, so that you wil cal a blessing down on Yahweh'sheritage?'	3 Disse dunque David ai Gabaoniti: « Che vi devo fare? E qual soddisfazione vi devo dare, affinchè benediciate l'eredità del Signore? »
4 The Gibeonites replied, 'Our quarrel with Saul and his family cannot be settled for silver or gold, nor byputting to death one man in Israel.' David said, 'Say what you want and I wil do it for you.'	4 I Gabaoniti gli risposero: « La nostra non è questione d'argento e d'oro, ma è una questione contro Saul e contro la sua casa, e non voghiamo che si uccida nessuno in Israele ». Il re disse loro: « Che volete adunque che vi faccia? »
5 Then they replied to the king, 'The man who dismembered us and planned to annihilate us, so that weshould not exist anywhere in Israelite territory-	5 Essi risposero al re: « L'uomo che ci ha schiacciati e oppressi iniquamente, noi dobbiamo sterminarlo in modo che non vi resti neppur uno della sua stirpe in tutti i confini d'Israele.
6 we want seven of his descendants handed over to us; and we shal dismember them before Yahwehat Gibeon on Yahweh's hill.' 'I shal hand them over,' said the king.	6 Ci sian dati sette uomini dei figli di lui, affinchè li crocifiggiamo davanti al Signore in Gabaa di Saul, che fu un dì l'eletto del Signore ». Il re disse: « Ve li darò ».
7 The king, however, spared Meribbaal son of Jonathan, son of Saul, on account of the oath by Yahwehbinding them together, binding David and Jonathan son of Saul.	7 Ma il re risparmiò Mifiboset figlio di Gionata figlio di Saul, per ragione del giuramento del Signore, che v'era stato fra David e Gionata figlio di Saul.
8 The king took the two sons born to Saul by Rizpah daughter of Aiah: Armoni and Meribbaal; and thefive sons borne by Merab daughter of Saul to Adriel son of Barzil ai, of Meholah.	8 Il re prese adunque i due figli di Resfa, figlia di Aia, Armoni e Mifiboset, da essa partoriti a Saul, e cinque figli di Micol figlia di Saul, da essa partoriti ad Adriele figlio di Berzellai, il quale era di Molati,
9 He handed these over to the Gibeonites who dismembered them before Yahweh on the hil . Theseven of them perished together; they were put to death in the first days of the harvest, at the beginning of thebarley harvest.	9 e li diede nelle mani dei Gabaoniti, i quali li crocifissero sul monte dinanzi al Signore. Quei sette caddero uccisi tutti insieme nei primi giorni della messe, quando si cominciava a mieter l'orzo.
10 Rizpah daughter of Aiah, wearing sacking and spreading some out for herself on the rock, from thebeginning of the barley harvest until the rain fel on them from heaven, kept the birds of the sky away from themin the daytime, and the wild animals away at night.	10 E Resfa figlia di Aia, preso un cilicio, se lo stese sopra una pietra, ove stette dal principio della mietitura finché non cadde acqua dal cielo sopra di essi, per non permettere che gli uccelli li lacerassero di giorno, nè le fiere di notte.
11 David was told of what Saul's concubine, Rizpah daughter of Aiah, had done.	11 Essendo stato riferito a David ciò che aveva fatto Resfa, figlia d'Aia, concubina di Saul,
12 David went and recovered the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan from the notables of Jabesh inGilead. The latter had stolen them from the square in Beth-Shean, where the Philistines had hung them, whenthe Philistines had defeated Saul at Gilboa.	12 David andò a prendere le ossa di Saul e le ossa di Gionata, figlio di lui, dagli uomini di Iabes Galaad, i quali le avevan tolte furtivamente dalla piazza di Betsan, dove i Filistei li avevano appesi dopo aver battuto Saul in Gelboe.
13 David fetched the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan. The bones of the men who had beendismembered were col ected	13 Trasportate adunque di là le ossa di Saul e le ossa di Gionata suo figlio, raccolte le ossa di coloro che erano stati crocifìssi,
14 and these, with the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan, were buried in the territory of Benjamin, atZela, in the tomb of Saul's father, Kish. The king's orders were carried out to the letter and after that, God tookpity on the country.	14 le seppellirono insieme colle ossa di Saul e di Gionata suo figlio, nella terra di Beniamino, da un lato, nel sepolcro di Cis loro padre. Dopo che ebbero fatto tutto quello che il re aveva comandato, Dio si placò verso il paese.
15 Once again the Philistines made war on Israel. David went down with his retainers; they fought thePhilistines and David began to tire.	15 Fu mossa di nuovo guerra dai Filistei contro Israele, e David discese colla sua gente a combattere contro i Filistei. Mentre David era spossato,
16 There was a champion, one of the sons of Rapha. His spear weighed three hundred shekels ofbronze; he was wearing a new sword and was confident of kil ing David.	16 Ieshibenob, della stirpe di Arafa, che portava una lancia, il ferro della quale pesava trecento once, e aveva una spada nuova, tentò di ferire David.
17 Abishai son of Zeruiah came to his rescue, however, attacking the Philistine and kil ing him. Then itwas that David's men swore the fol owing oath to him, 'You are never to go into battle with us again, in case youshould extinguish the lamp of Israel!'	17 Ma Abisai, figlio di Sarvia, lo difese, colpi il Filisteo e l'uccise. Allora gli uomini di David dissero con giuramento: « Tu non verrai più con noi alla guerra, chè tu non spenga la lampada d'Israele ».
18 After this, war with the Philistines broke out again at Gob. This was when Sibbecai of Hushah kil edSaph, one of the sons of Rapha.	18 Contro i Filistei vi fu pure una seconda guerra in Gob, e allora Sobocai di Liusati percosse Saf, della stirpe di Arafa, della razza dei giganti.
19 Again, war with the Philistines broke out at Gob, and Elhanan son of Jair, of Bethlehem, kil ed Goliathof Gath, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.	19 Vi fu pure una terza guerra a Gob contro i Filistei, e in essa Adeodato figlio di Saltus, tessitore a diversi colori, Betlemita, percosse Goliat Geteo, che aveva l'asta della lancia come un subbio da tessitore.
20 There was further warfare at Gath, where there was a man of huge stature with six fingers on eachhand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in al . He too was a son of Rapha.	20 La quarta guerra fu a Get, dove si trovò un uomo di grande statura, che aveva sei dita a ciascuna mano e a ciascun piede, cioè ventiquattro dita, ed era della stirpe di Arafa.
21 When he defied Israel, Jonathan son of Shimea, brother of David cut him down.	21 Questi bestemmiò Israele; ma Gionata, figlio di Sarnmaa fratello di David, lo uccise.
22 These four were sons of Rapha in Gath and fel at the hands of David and his retainers.	22 Questi quattro eran nati in Get dalla stirpe di Arafa, e caddero nelle mani di David e dei suoi servi.
