2 Samuel 15

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 After this, Absalom procured a chariot and horses, with fifty men to run ahead of him.	1 ORA, dopo queste cose, avvenne che Absalom si fornì di carri e di cavalli; e cinquant’uomini correvano davanti a lui.
2 He would get up early and stand beside the road leading to the city gate; and whenever a man withsome lawsuit had to come before the king's tribunal, Absalom would cal out to him and ask, 'Which town are youfrom?' If he answered, 'Your servant is from one of the tribes of Israel,'	2 Ed egli si levava la mattina, e si fermava allato alla via della porta; e se vi era alcuno che avesse qualche piato, per lo quale gli convenisse venire al re per giudicio, Absalom lo chiamava, e gli diceva: Di qual città sei tu? E colui gli rispondeva: Il tuo servitore è di tale e tale tribù d’Israele.
3 then Absalom would say, 'Look, your case is sound and just, but not one of the king's deputies willisten to you.'	3 Ed Absalom gli diceva: Vedi, le tue ragioni son buone e diritte; ma tu non hai alcuno che ti ascolti da parte del re.
4 Absalom would say, 'Oh, who will appoint me judge in the land? Then anyone with a lawsuit or a pleacould come to me and I should see he had justice!'	4 E Absalom diceva: Oh! fossi io pur costituito giudice nel paese; acciocchè chiunque avrebbe alcun piato, o affare di giudicio, venisse a me! io gli farei ragione.
5 And whenever anyone came up to him to prostrate himself, he would stretch out his hand, draw him tohim and kiss him.	5 E, se alcuno gli si accostava per prosternarsi davanti a lui, egli stendeva la mano, e lo prendeva, e lo baciava.
6 Absalom acted like this with every Israelite who appealed to the king's tribunal, and so Absalom wonthe Israelites' hearts.	6 E così faceva Absalom a tutti quelli d’Israele che venivano al re per giudicio; e furava il cuore di que’ d’Israele
7 When four years had gone by, Absalom said to the king, 'Al ow me to go to Hebron and fulfil the vowwhich I have made to Yahweh;	7 Or avvenne, in capo di quarant’anni, che Absalom disse al re: Deh! lascia che io vada in Hebron, per adempiere un mio voto che io ho fatto al Signore.
8 for, when I was in Geshur, in Aram, your servant made this vow, "If Yahweh brings me back toJerusalem, I shal pay my devotions to Yahweh in Hebron." '	8 Perciocchè, mentre io dimorava in Ghesur, in Siria, il tuo servitore fece un voto, dicendo: Se pure il Signore mi riconduce in Gerusalemme, io sacrificherò al Signore.
9 The king said to him, 'Go in peace.' So he set off and went to Hebron.	9 E il re gli disse: Va’ in pace. Egli adunque si levò, e andò in Hebron.
10 Absalom sent couriers throughout the tribes of Israel to say, 'When you hear the trumpet sound, you are to say, "Absalom is king at Hebron!" '	10 Or Absalom avea mandate per tutte le tribù d’Israele delle persone che dessero loro la posta, dicendo: Quando voi udirete il suon della tromba, dite: Absalom è fatto re in Hebron.
11 With Absalom went two hundred men from Jerusalem; they had been invited and had gone in alinnocence, unaware of what was going on.	11 E con Absalom andarono dugent’uomini di Gerusalemme, ch’erano stati convitati; e vi andarono nella loro semplicità, non sapendo nulla.
12 Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counsellor, from Giloh his town, and had him withhim while offering the sacrifices. The conspiracy grew in strength, since Absalom's supporters grew in number.	12 Ed Absalom, quando fu per sacrificare i sacrificii, mandò per Ahitofel Ghilonita, consigliere di Davide, che venisse da Ghilo, sua città; e la conguira divenne potente, e il popolo andava crescendo di numero appresso di Absalom
13 A messenger came and told David, 'The men of Israel have shifted their allegiance to Absalom.'	13 Ora un messo venne a Davide, dicendo: Il cuor degl’Israeliti è dietro ad Absalom.
14 David said to al his retinue then with him in Jerusalem, 'Up, let us flee, or we shal not escape fromAbsalom! Leave as quickly as you can, in case he mounts a sudden attack, overcomes us and puts the city tothe sword.'	14 Allora Davide disse a tutti i suoi servitori ch’erano con lui in Gerusalemme: Levatevi, fuggiamocene; perciocchè noi non potremo scampare d’innanzi ad Absalom; affrettatevi a camminare; chè talora egli di subito non ci raggiunga, e non trabocchi la ruina addosso a noi; e non percuota la città, mettendola a fil di spada.
15 The king's retinue replied, 'Whatever my lord the king decides, we are at your service.'	15 Ed i servitori del re gli dissero: Ecco i tuoi servitori, per fare interamente secondo che al re, mio signore, parrà bene.
16 The king set out on foot with his whole household, leaving ten concubines to look after the palace.	16 Il re adunque uscì fuori, e tutta la sua casa lo seguitò. E il re lasciò dieci donne concubine a guardia della casa.
17 The king set out on foot with everyone fol owing, and they halted at the last house.	17 E quando il re fu uscito, con tutto il popolo che lo seguitava, si fermarono in una casa remota.
18 Al his officers stood at his side. All the Cherethites and all the Pelethites, with Ittai and all the sixhundred Gittites who had come in his retinue from Gath, marched past the king.	18 E tutti i suoi servitori, con tutti i Cheretei, e tutti i Peletei, camminavano allato a lui; e tutti i Ghittei, ch’erano seicent’uomini, venuti di Gat al suo seguito, passavano davanti al re.
19 The king said to Ittai the Gittite, 'You, why are you coming with us? Go back and stay with the king,for you are a foreigner, indeed an exile from your homeland.	19 E il re disse a Ittai Ghitteo: Perchè andresti ancora tu con noi? ritornatene, e dimora col re; perciocchè tu sei forestiere, e sei per andartene presto al tuo luogo.
20 You arrived only yesterday; should I take you wandering with us today, when I do not know myselfwhere I am going? Go back, take your fellow countrymen with you, and may Yahweh show you mercy andfaithful love!'	20 Pur ieri ci venisti; e ti farei io andar vagando qua e là con noi? ma, quant’è a me, io vo dove potrò; ritornatene, e rimena i tuoi fratelli; benignità e verità dimorino teco.
21 Ittai replied to the king, 'As Yahweh lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the kingmay be, for death or life, your servant wil be there too.'	21 Ma Ittai rispose al re, e disse: Come vive il Signore, e come vive il re, mio signore, dovunque il re, mio signore, sarà, così per morire, come per vivere, il tuo servitore vi sarà ancora.
22 David then said to Ittai, 'Go ahead, march past!' And Ittai of Gath marched past with al his men andwith all his children too.	22 Davide adunque disse ad Ittai: Va’, passa oltre. Così Ittai Ghitteo passò oltre con tutta la sua gente, e tutti i fanciulli ch’egli avea seco.
23 The entire population was weeping aloud as the king stood in the bed of the Kidron and everyonemarched past him, making for the desert.	23 E tutto il popolo del paese piangeva con gran grida, mentre tutta quella gente passava. E il re passò il torrente di Chidron; e tutta la gente passò, traendo verso il deserto
24 Zadok was there too, and al the Levites with him, carrying the ark of God. They set the ark of Goddown beside Abiathar until everyone had finished marching out of the town.	24 Or ecco, quivi era ancora Sadoc, con tutti i Leviti, portando d’Arca del Patto di Dio; ed essi posarono l’Arca di Dio, mentre Ebiatar saliva, finchè tutto il popolo ebbe finito di uscire della città.
25 The king then said to Zadok, 'Take the ark of God back into the city. Should I win Yahweh's favour,he wil bring me back and al ow me to see it and its tent once more.	25 Ma il re disse a Sadoc: Riporta l’Arca di Dio nella città; se io trovo grazia appo il Signore, egli mi ricondurrà, e me la farà vedere, insieme col suo abitacolo;
26 But should he say, "You displease me," here I am: let him treat me as he sees fit.'	26 ma, se pure egli dice così: Io non ti gradisco; eccomi, facciami egli come gli piacerà.
27 The king said to Zadok the priest, 'Look, you and Abiathar go back quietly into the city, with your twosons, your own son Ahimaaz and Jonathan son of Abiathar.	27 Il re disse ancora al sacerdote Sadoc: Non sei tu il veggente? ritornatene in pace nella città, tu, ed Ebiatar, insieme co’ vostri due figliuoli: Ahimaas, tuo figliuolo, e Gionatan, figliuolo di Ebiatar.
28 You see, I shall wait in the passes of the desert plain until word comes from you bringing me news.'	28 Vedete, io mi andrò trattenendo nelle campagne del deserto, finchè mi venga rapportata alcuna novella da parte vostra.
29 So Zadok and Abiathar took the ark of God back to Jerusalem and stayed there.	29 Sadoc adunque, ed Ebiatar, riportarono l’Arca di Dio in Gerusalemme, e dimorarono quivi.
30 David then made his way up the Mount of Olives, weeping as he went, his head covered and his feetbare. And al the people with him had their heads covered and made their way up, weeping as they went.	30 E Davide saliva per la salita degli Ulivi, piangendo, ed avendo il capo coperto, e camminava scalzo. E tutta la gente ch’egli avea seco avea il capo coperto, e saliva piangendo
31 David was then informed that Ahithophel was among the conspirators with Absalom. David said, 'Ibeg you, Yahweh, turn Ahithophel's advice to fol y.'	31 E fu rapportato e detto a Davide: Ahitofel è fra quelli che si son congiurati con Absalom. E Davide disse: Signore, rendi, ti prego, pazzo il consiglio di Ahitofel.
32 As David reached the summit, where God is worshipped, he saw Hushai the Archite, his friend,coming to meet him with his tunic torn and with earth on his head.	32 Or avvenne che, come Davide fu giunto alla cima del monte, dove egli voleva adorare Iddio, ecco, Husai Archita gli venne incontro, avendo la vesta stracciata, e della terra in su la testa.
33 David said, 'If you go along with me, you wil be a burden to me.	33 E Davide gli disse: Se tu passi oltre meco, tu mi sarai di gravezza;
34 But if you go back to the city and say to Absalom, "I am at your service, my lord king; once I was inyour father's service, but now I shal serve you," you wil be able to thwart Ahithophel's advice for me.	34 ma, se tu te ne ritorni nella città, e dici ad Absalom: Io sarò tuo servitore, o re; ab antico io sono stato servitore di tuo padre, ed ora sarò il tuo; tu mi romperai il consiglio di Ahitofel.
35 Surely the priests Zadok and Abiathar wil be with you? Anything you hear from the palace you mustreport to the priests Zadok and Abiathar.	35 E non avrai tu quivi teco i sacerdoti Sadoc ed Ebiatar, a’ quali farai assapere tutto quello che tu intenderai dalla casa del re?
36 You see, their two sons are there with them, Zadok's son Ahimaaz, and Abiathar's son Jonathan;through these, you will send me word of everything you hear.'	36 Ecco, là son con loro i due lor figlioli, Ahimaas, figliuolo di Sadoc, e Gionatan, figliuolo di Ebiatar; per essi mandatemi a dire tutto quello che avrete udito.
37 Hushai, David's friend, entered the city just as Absalom was reaching Jerusalem.	37 Così Husai, famigliare amico di Davide, venne nella città, allora appunto che Absalom entrava in Gerusalemme
