2 Samuel 15

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 After this, Absalom procured a chariot and horses, with fifty men to run ahead of him.	1 Después de esto, Absalón se consiguió un carro de guerra, caballos y cincuenta hombres que corrían delante de él.
2 He would get up early and stand beside the road leading to the city gate; and whenever a man withsome lawsuit had to come before the king's tribunal, Absalom would cal out to him and ask, 'Which town are youfrom?' If he answered, 'Your servant is from one of the tribes of Israel,'	2 Se levantaba temprano, se paraba junto al camino de la Puerta, y a todo el que iba a presentar un pleito al rey, en demanda de justicia, Absalón lo llamaba y le preguntaba: «¿De qué ciudad eres tú?». Y cuando el hombre respondía: «Tu servidor es de tal tribu de Israel»,
3 then Absalom would say, 'Look, your case is sound and just, but not one of the king's deputies willisten to you.'	3 él le decía: «Mira, tus razones son buenas y justas, pero no habrá quien te escuche en el tribunal del rey».
4 Absalom would say, 'Oh, who will appoint me judge in the land? Then anyone with a lawsuit or a pleacould come to me and I should see he had justice!'	4 Luego añadía: «¡Ah, si me constituyeran juez en el país! ¡Acudirían a mí todos los que tienen un pleito o un juicio, y yo les haría justicia!».
5 And whenever anyone came up to him to prostrate himself, he would stretch out his hand, draw him tohim and kiss him.	5 Y cuando alguien se acercaba para postrarse ante él, le tendía la mano, lo abrazaba y lo besaba.
6 Absalom acted like this with every Israelite who appealed to the king's tribunal, and so Absalom wonthe Israelites' hearts.	6 Así procedía Absalón con todo Israel, cuando acudían al rey en demanda de justicia, y de esta manera se conquistaba el afecto de los israelitas.
7 When four years had gone by, Absalom said to the king, 'Al ow me to go to Hebron and fulfil the vowwhich I have made to Yahweh;	7 Al cabo de cuatro años, Absalón dijo al rey: «Por favor, déjame ir a Hebrón para cumplir el voto que hice al Señor.
8 for, when I was in Geshur, in Aram, your servant made this vow, "If Yahweh brings me back toJerusalem, I shal pay my devotions to Yahweh in Hebron." '	8 Porque mientras estaba en Guesur de Aram, tu servidor pronunció este voto: «Si el Señor me hace volver a Jerusalén, iré a rendirle culto en Hebrón».
9 The king said to him, 'Go in peace.' So he set off and went to Hebron.	9 El rey le respondió: «Vete en paz». Y él partió en seguida para Hebrón.
10 Absalom sent couriers throughout the tribes of Israel to say, 'When you hear the trumpet sound, you are to say, "Absalom is king at Hebron!" '	10 Mientras tanto, Absalón había enviado emisarios por todas las tribus de Israel, con esta consigna: «Apenas oigan el toque de la trompeta, ustedes dirán: «¡Absalón es rey en Hebrón!».
11 With Absalom went two hundred men from Jerusalem; they had been invited and had gone in alinnocence, unaware of what was going on.	11 Junto con Absalón partieron de Jerusalén doscientos hombres, invitados por él, que iban con toda inocencia, sin sospechar nada del asunto.
12 Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counsellor, from Giloh his town, and had him withhim while offering the sacrifices. The conspiracy grew in strength, since Absalom's supporters grew in number.	12 Además, Absalón hizo venir de Guiló, su ciudad, a Ajitófel, el guilonita, consejero de David, y este lo acompañó mientras ofrecía los sacrificios. La conjuración fue tomando fuerza, y los secuaces de Absalón eran cada vez más numerosos.
13 A messenger came and told David, 'The men of Israel have shifted their allegiance to Absalom.'	13 Cuando David recibió esta noticia: «Todos los hombres de Israel están de parte de Absalón»,
14 David said to al his retinue then with him in Jerusalem, 'Up, let us flee, or we shal not escape fromAbsalom! Leave as quickly as you can, in case he mounts a sudden attack, overcomes us and puts the city tothe sword.'	14 dijo a todos sus servidores que estaban con él en Jerusalén: «¡Rápido huyamos! Si Absalón se nos pone delante, no tendremos escapatoria. ¡Apúrense a partir, no sea que él nos sorprenda, que precipite la desgracia sobre nosotros y pase la ciudad al filo de la espada!».
15 The king's retinue replied, 'Whatever my lord the king decides, we are at your service.'	15 Sus servidores le respondieron: «¡A las órdenes del rey, para todo lo que él decida!».
16 The king set out on foot with his whole household, leaving ten concubines to look after the palace.	16 Entonces el rey salió a pie con toda su familia, pero dejó a diez de sus concubinas para cuidar la casa.
17 The king set out on foot with everyone fol owing, and they halted at the last house.	17 Detrás del rey salió todo el pueblo, y se detuvieron junto a la última casa.
18 Al his officers stood at his side. All the Cherethites and all the Pelethites, with Ittai and all the sixhundred Gittites who had come in his retinue from Gath, marched past the king.	18 Todos sus servidores marchaban a su lado, mientras que los quereteos, los peleteos y los de Gat –los seiscientos hombres que lo habían seguido desde Gat– desfilaban delante de él.
19 The king said to Ittai the Gittite, 'You, why are you coming with us? Go back and stay with the king,for you are a foreigner, indeed an exile from your homeland.	19 El rey dijo a Itai, el de Gat: «¿Por qué vienes tú con nosotros? Vuelve y quédate con el otro rey, ya que eres extranjero y, además de eso, un exiliado de tu patria.
20 You arrived only yesterday; should I take you wandering with us today, when I do not know myselfwhere I am going? Go back, take your fellow countrymen with you, and may Yahweh show you mercy andfaithful love!'	20 Llegaste apenas ayer, ¿Y hoy te haré ir de aquí para allá con nosotros, mientras yo mismo marcho a la ventura? No, regresa y llévate contigo a tus hermanos. ¡Que el Señor sea bondadoso y fiel contigo!».
21 Ittai replied to the king, 'As Yahweh lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the kingmay be, for death or life, your servant wil be there too.'	21 Pero Itai respondió al rey: «¡Por la vida del Señor y por tu propia vida, allí donde esté mi señor, el rey, allí estará tu servidor, en la muerte y en la vida!».
22 David then said to Ittai, 'Go ahead, march past!' And Ittai of Gath marched past with al his men andwith all his children too.	22 Entonces David dijo a Itai: «Está bien, sigue adelante». Así pasó Itai, el de Gat, con todos los hombres y los niños que estaban con él.
23 The entire population was weeping aloud as the king stood in the bed of the Kidron and everyonemarched past him, making for the desert.	23 Todo el mundo lloraba a gritos, mientras el pueblo iba avanzando. El rey permanecía de pie en el torrente Cedrón, y todo el pueblo desfilaba ante él en dirección al desierto.
24 Zadok was there too, and al the Levites with him, carrying the ark of God. They set the ark of Goddown beside Abiathar until everyone had finished marching out of the town.	24 Allí estaba también Sadoc, con todos los levitas que transportaban el Arca de Dios. Ellos depositaron el Arca de Dios junto a Abiatar, hasta que todo el pueblo terminó de salir de la ciudad.
25 The king then said to Zadok, 'Take the ark of God back into the city. Should I win Yahweh's favour,he wil bring me back and al ow me to see it and its tent once more.	25 Pero el rey dijo a Sadoc: «Lleva de nuevo el Arca de Dios a la ciudad. Si el Señor me mira favorablemente, me hará volver a ver el Arca y su morada.
26 But should he say, "You displease me," here I am: let him treat me as he sees fit.'	26 Y si dice: «No me complazco en ti», aquí me tiene: ¡que haga conmigo lo que más le agrade!».
27 The king said to Zadok the priest, 'Look, you and Abiathar go back quietly into the city, with your twosons, your own son Ahimaaz and Jonathan son of Abiathar.	27 Y el rey siguió diciendo al sacerdote Sadoc: «Mira, tú y Abiatar vuelvan en paz a la ciudad, y lleven con ustedes a sus dos hijos, a tu hijo Ajimáas y a Jonatán, el hijo de Abiatar.
28 You see, I shall wait in the passes of the desert plain until word comes from you bringing me news.'	28 Yo me voy a demorar en los pasos del desierto, hasta que reciba noticias de ustedes».
29 So Zadok and Abiathar took the ark of God back to Jerusalem and stayed there.	29 Entonces Sadoc y Abiatar llevaron de vuelta el Arca de Dios a Jerusalén, y permanecieron allí.
30 David then made his way up the Mount of Olives, weeping as he went, his head covered and his feetbare. And al the people with him had their heads covered and made their way up, weeping as they went.	30 David subía la cuesta de los Olivos; iba llorando, con la cabeza cubierta y los pies descalzos. Todo el pueblo que lo acompañaba también llevaba la cabeza cubierta, y lloraba mientras subía.
31 David was then informed that Ahithophel was among the conspirators with Absalom. David said, 'Ibeg you, Yahweh, turn Ahithophel's advice to fol y.'	31 Entonces informaron a David: «Ajitófel está con Absalón entre los conjurados». Y él exclamó: «¡Entorpece, Señor, los consejos de Ajitófel!».
32 As David reached the summit, where God is worshipped, he saw Hushai the Archite, his friend,coming to meet him with his tunic torn and with earth on his head.	32 Cuando David llegaba a la cumbre, allí donde se adora a Dios, le salió al encuentro Jusai, el arquita, amigo de David, con la túnica hecha jirones y la cabeza cubierta de polvo.
33 David said, 'If you go along with me, you wil be a burden to me.	33 David le dijo: «Si sigues adelante conmigo, serás para mí una carga.
34 But if you go back to the city and say to Absalom, "I am at your service, my lord king; once I was inyour father's service, but now I shal serve you," you wil be able to thwart Ahithophel's advice for me.	34 En cambio, si vuelves a la ciudad y le dices a Absalón: «Rey, yo seré tu servidor; antes servía a tu padre pero ahora te serviré a ti», entonces podrás desbaratar en beneficio mío los planes de Ajitófel.
35 Surely the priests Zadok and Abiathar wil be with you? Anything you hear from the palace you mustreport to the priests Zadok and Abiathar.	35 Allí estarán contigo los sacerdotes Sadoc y Abiatar. Todo lo que oigas en la casa del rey se lo comunicarás a ellos.
36 You see, their two sons are there with them, Zadok's son Ahimaaz, and Abiathar's son Jonathan;through these, you will send me word of everything you hear.'	36 Allí están con ellos sus dos hijos, Ajimáas, el de Sadoc, y Jonatán, el de Abiatar: por medio de ellos me comunicarán todo lo que oigan».
37 Hushai, David's friend, entered the city just as Absalom was reaching Jerusalem.	37 Jusai, el amigo de David, llegó a la ciudad al mismo tiempo que Absalón entraba en Jerusalén.
