Genesis 45

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Then Joseph could not control his feelings in front of al his retainers, and he exclaimed, 'Let everyoneleave me.' No one therefore was present with him while Joseph made himself known to his brothers,	1 Allora Giuseppe, non potendo più contenersi, siccome eran molti li davanti a lui, comandò che si ritirassero tutti,perchè nessuno straniero fosse presente quando si dava a conoscere ai suoi fratelli.
2 but he wept so loudly that al the Egyptians heard, and the news reached Pharaoh's palace.	2 E pianse ad alte grida, che furon sentite dagli Egiziani e da tutta la casa di Faraone,
3 Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph. Is my father real y stil alive?' His brothers could not answerhim, they were so dumbfounded at seeing him.	3 e disse ai suoi fratelli: « Io sono Giuseppe; mio padre è ancor vivo! » I fratelli, oltremodo sbigottita, restaron senza parola.
4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, 'Come closer to me.' When they had come closer to him he said, 'Iam your brother Joseph whom you sold into Egypt.	4 Ma egli con benignità disse loro: «Avvicinatevi a me». E quando gli furono vicini, disse: « Io sono Giuseppe vostro fratello che voi vendeste per l'Egitto.
5 But now, do not grieve, do not reproach yourselves for having sold me here, since God sent mebefore you to preserve your lives.	5 Ma ora non temete e non vi sembri duro l'avermi mandato venduto in questo paese; perchè per la vostra salvezza Dio mi ha mandato innanzi a voi in Egitto.
6 For this is the second year there has been famine in the country, and there are still five years to comewithout ploughing or harvest.	6 Infatti da soli due anni la carestia imperversa nel paese, e rimangono ancora cinque anni in cui non vi sarà nè aratura nè messe.
7 God sent me before you to assure the survival of your race on earth and to save your lives by a greatdeliverance.	7 Or Iddio mi ha mandato innanzi a voi, perchè siate conservati sulla terra e possiate aver cibo per vivere.
8 So it was not you who sent me here but God, and he has set me up as a father to Pharaoh, as lord ofal his household and governor of the whole of Egypt.	8 Non voi mi avete mandato qua, ma Dio, il quale mi ha reso quasi padre di Faraone, e padrone di tutta la sua casa, e governatore di tutta la terra d'Egitto.
9 'Return quickly to your father and tel him, "Your son Joseph says this: 'God has made me lord of alEgypt. Come down to me without delay.	9 Su presto, andate a mio padre, e ditegli: Queste cose ti manda a dire il tuo figlio Giuseppe: Dio mi ha fatto signore di tutto l'Egitto: vieni da me senza indugio,
10 You wil live in the region of Goshen where you wil be near me, you, your children and yourgrandchildren, your flocks, your cattle and al your possessions.	10 e dimorerai nella terra di Gessen, e sarai vicino a me tu con i tuoi figli ed i figli dei tuoi figli, con le tue pecore, i tuoi armenti e tutto quello che possiedi.
11 There I shal provide for you -- for there are five years of famine stil to come -- so that you, yourhousehold and all yours are not reduced to penury.' "	11 E lì io vi sostenterò (giacché vi saranno ancora cinque anni di carestia), e così tu con la tua casa e tutto quello che possiedi non perirai.
12 You can see with your own eyes, and my brother Benjamin can see too, that I am who I say I am.	12 Ecco i vostri occhi e gli occhi del mio fratello Beniamino vedono che è proprio la mia bocca quella che vi parla.
13 Give my father a ful report of al the honour I enjoy in Egypt, and of al you have seen; and quicklybring my father down here.'	13 Raccontate adunque al mio padre tutta la mia gloria, e tutto quello che avete veduto in Egitto: affrettatevi a condurlo da me ».
14 Then throwing his arms round the neck of his brother Benjamin he wept; and Benjamin wept on hisshoulder.	14 E, gettatosi al collo di Beniamino, suo fratello, pianse; e Beniamino pianse sul collo di lui.
15 He kissed al his brothers, weeping on each one. Only then were his brothers able to talk to him.	15 Giuseppe baciò tutti i suoi fratelli e pianse sopra ciascuno di essi. E dopo ciò essi ebbero il coraggio di parlare con lui.
16 News reached Pharaoh's palace that Joseph's brothers had come, and Pharaoh was pleased to hearit, as were his servants.	16 La notizia si sparse e fu pubblicata altamente nella reggia di Faraone: « Son venuti i fratelli di Giuseppe ». E Faraone e tutta la sua famiglia ne ebbero gran piacere.
17 Pharaoh told Joseph, 'Say to your brothers, "Do this: load your beasts and hurry away to Canaan.	17 E Faraone disse a Giuseppe: « Ordina così ai tuoi fratelli: Caricati i vostri giumenti, andate nella terra di Canaan:
18 Fetch your father and your families, and come back to me. I will give you the best territory in Egypt,where you wil live off the fat of the land."	18 prendete il vostro padre e la sua famiglia e veniie da me, che vi darò tutti i beni dell'Egitto, e voi mangerete quello che il paese ha di migliore,
19 And you, for your part, give them this order: "Do this: take waggons from Egypt, for your little onesand your wives. Get your father and come.	19 Ordina ancora che prendano dei carri dalla terra d'Egitto per trasportare i loro fanciulli e le mogli, e di' loro: Prendete il vostro padre e affrettatevi a venire quanto prima,
20 Never mind about your property, for the best of all Egypt will be yours." '	20 e non vi rincresca di lasciare le vostre masserizie; perchè tutte le ricchezze dell'Egitto saran vostre ».
21 Israel's sons did as they were told. Joseph gave them waggons as Pharaoh had ordered, and hegave them provisions for the journey.	21 E i figli d'Israele fecero come era stato loro comandato. E Giuseppe diede loro dei carri, secondo l'ordine di Faraone, ed anche dei viveri pel viaggio.
22 To each and every one he gave new clothes, and to Benjamin three hundred shekels of silver andfive changes of clothes.	22 E fece dare a ciascuno di essi due vesti, e a Beniamino diede trecento monete d'argento con cinque ottime vesti;
23 And to his father he sent ten donkeys laden with the best that Egypt offered, and ten she-donkeysladen with grain, bread and food for his father's journey.	23 e a suo padre mandò la medesima quantità di danaro e di vesti, aggiungendovi dieci asini carichi d'ogni bene d'Egitto, e altrettante asine cariche di grano e di viveri pel viaggio.
24 And so he sent his brothers on their way. His final words to them were, 'And let there be no upsetson the way!'	24 Congedò adunque i suoi fratelli, e mentre partivano disse loro: « Non altercate tra voi durante il viaggio ».
25 And so they left Egypt. When they reached their father Jacob in Canaan,	25 Ed essi risalirono dall'Egitto e vennero nella terra di Canaan da Giacobbe loro padre.
26 they gave him this report, 'Joseph is stil alive. He is at this moment governor of al Egypt!' But hewas as one stunned, for he did not believe them.	26 E gli portarono la nuova, dicendo: « Il tuo figlio Giuseppe vive, ed è lui che governa tutto l'Egitto ». Giacobbe sentendo queste cose, restò come uno che si sveglia da un profondo sonno, e non gli riusciva credere a loro.
27 However, when they told him all Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the waggons thatJoseph had sent to fetch him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived,	27 Ma essi gli raccontarono tuttala serie degli avvenimenti. E Giacobbe, quando vide i carri e tutte le cose che Giuseppe aveva mandate, si ravvivò nello spirito
28 and Israel said, 'That is enough! My son Joseph is stil alive. I must go and see him before I die.'	28 e disse: « A me basta che Giuseppe mio figlio sia ancora vivo: andrò a vederlo prima di morire! »
