Genesis 45

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Then Joseph could not control his feelings in front of al his retainers, and he exclaimed, 'Let everyoneleave me.' No one therefore was present with him while Joseph made himself known to his brothers,	1 Allora Giuseppe non poté più contenersi davanti a tutte le persone che lo assistevano, e gridò: "Fate uscire tutti dalla mia presenza!". E così non restò nessuno presso di lui, mentre Giuseppe si faceva conoscere ai suoi fratelli,
2 but he wept so loudly that al the Egyptians heard, and the news reached Pharaoh's palace.	2 ma egli alzò la sua voce piangendo in modo che tutti gli Egiziani lo sentirono e la cosa fu risaputa nella corte del faraone.
3 Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph. Is my father real y stil alive?' His brothers could not answerhim, they were so dumbfounded at seeing him.	3 Giuseppe disse ai suoi fratelli: "Io sono Giuseppe! Vive ancora mio padre?". Ma i suoi fratelli non potevano rispondergli, perché erano sbigottiti alla sua presenza.
4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, 'Come closer to me.' When they had come closer to him he said, 'Iam your brother Joseph whom you sold into Egypt.	4 Allora Giuseppe disse ai suoi fratelli: "Per favore, avvicinatevi a me!". E si avvicinarono. Egli riprese: "Io sono Giuseppe vostro fratello, che voi avete venduto per l'Egitto.
5 But now, do not grieve, do not reproach yourselves for having sold me here, since God sent mebefore you to preserve your lives.	5 Ma ora non vi addolorate né dispiaccia ai vostri occhi di avermi venduto quaggiù, perché fu per conservarvi in vita che Dio mi ha mandato avanti a voi.
6 For this is the second year there has been famine in the country, and there are still five years to comewithout ploughing or harvest.	6 Perché già da due anni vi è la carestia nel paese, e ancora per cinque anni non vi sarà né aratura né mietitura.
7 God sent me before you to assure the survival of your race on earth and to save your lives by a greatdeliverance.	7 Ma Dio mi ha mandato avanti a voi, perché sia conservato per voi un resto sulla terra e salvarvi la vita con una grande liberazione.
8 So it was not you who sent me here but God, and he has set me up as a father to Pharaoh, as lord ofal his household and governor of the whole of Egypt.	8 Dunque non siete stati voi a mandarmi qui, ma Dio, ed egli mi ha stabilito quale padre per il faraone, e come signore su tutta la sua corte e governatore di tutta la terra d'Egitto.
9 'Return quickly to your father and tel him, "Your son Joseph says this: 'God has made me lord of alEgypt. Come down to me without delay.	9 Affrettatevi a risalire da mio padre per dirgli: "Così dice il tuo figlio Giuseppe: Dio mi ha stabilito come signore di tutto l'Egitto. Scendi quaggiù presso di me, e non tardare.
10 You wil live in the region of Goshen where you wil be near me, you, your children and yourgrandchildren, your flocks, your cattle and al your possessions.	10 Abiterai nella terra di Gosen e starai vicino a me, tu, i tuoi figli e i figli dei tuoi figli, i tuoi greggi, i tuoi armenti e tutto il tuo avere.
11 There I shal provide for you -- for there are five years of famine stil to come -- so that you, yourhousehold and all yours are not reduced to penury.' "	11 Là io ti darò il sostentamento, dal momento che la carestia durerà ancora cinque anni, perché non debba cadere nell'indigenza tu, la tua famiglia e tutto il tuo avere".
12 You can see with your own eyes, and my brother Benjamin can see too, that I am who I say I am.	12 Ed ecco, i vostri occhi lo vedono e gli occhi di mio fratello Beniamino: è la mia bocca che vi parla!
13 Give my father a ful report of al the honour I enjoy in Egypt, and of al you have seen; and quicklybring my father down here.'	13 Riferite a mio padre tutta la gloria che io ho in Egitto e tutto quello che avete visto, e affrettatevi a condurre quaggiù mio padre".
14 Then throwing his arms round the neck of his brother Benjamin he wept; and Benjamin wept on hisshoulder.	14 Allora egli si gettò al collo di Beniamino e pianse. E pure Beniamino piangeva stretto al suo collo.
15 He kissed al his brothers, weeping on each one. Only then were his brothers able to talk to him.	15 Poi baciò tutti i suoi fratelli e pianse stringendoli a sé. Dopo di che i suoi fratelli si misero a discorrere con lui.
16 News reached Pharaoh's palace that Joseph's brothers had come, and Pharaoh was pleased to hearit, as were his servants.	16 Intanto nella corte del faraone si diffuse la voce: "Sono arrivati i fratelli di Giuseppe!". Questo fece piacere al faraone e ai suoi ministri.
17 Pharaoh told Joseph, 'Say to your brothers, "Do this: load your beasts and hurry away to Canaan.	17 Allora il faraone disse a Giuseppe: "Di' ai tuoi fratelli: "Fate questo: caricate i vostri giumenti e partite e arrivate nella terra di Canaan.
18 Fetch your father and your families, and come back to me. I will give you the best territory in Egypt,where you wil live off the fat of the land."	18 Poi prendete vostro padre e le vostre famiglie e venite da me, che voglio darvi il meglio della terra d'Egitto e mangerete il fior fiore del paese".
19 And you, for your part, give them this order: "Do this: take waggons from Egypt, for your little onesand your wives. Get your father and come.	19 Ma tu comanda loro: "Fate questo: prendete con voi dalla terra d'Egitto dei carri da carico per i vostri bambini e le vostre donne, mettete su vostro padre e venite.
20 Never mind about your property, for the best of all Egypt will be yours." '	20 Non abbiate rincrescimento per la vostra roba, perché il meglio di tutta la terra d'Egitto sarà vostro".
21 Israel's sons did as they were told. Joseph gave them waggons as Pharaoh had ordered, and hegave them provisions for the journey.	21 Così fecero i figli di Israele. Giuseppe diede loro alcuni carri da carico secondo l'ordine del faraone e diede loro una provvista per il viaggio.
22 To each and every one he gave new clothes, and to Benjamin three hundred shekels of silver andfive changes of clothes.	22 A tutti egli diede una muta di abiti per ciascuno, ma a Beniamino diede trecento sicli d'argento e cinque mute di abiti.
23 And to his father he sent ten donkeys laden with the best that Egypt offered, and ten she-donkeysladen with grain, bread and food for his father's journey.	23 Allo stesso modo mandò a suo padre dieci asini carichi dei migliori prodotti dell'Egitto e dieci asine cariche di grano, di pane e di vettovaglie per il viaggio di suo padre.
24 And so he sent his brothers on their way. His final words to them were, 'And let there be no upsetson the way!'	24 Poi congedò i suoi fratelli, e mentre partivano disse loro: "Non litigate durante il viaggio!".
25 And so they left Egypt. When they reached their father Jacob in Canaan,	25 Così essi risalirono dall'Egitto e arrivarono nella terra di Canaan dal loro padre Giacobbe.
26 they gave him this report, 'Joseph is stil alive. He is at this moment governor of al Egypt!' But hewas as one stunned, for he did not believe them.	26 E subito gli riferirono: "Giuseppe è ancora vivo, anzi è governatore di tutta la terra d'Egitto!". Ma il suo cuore rimase intorpidito, perché non credeva loro.
27 However, when they told him all Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the waggons thatJoseph had sent to fetch him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived,	27 Quando però essi gli ebbero riferito tutte le parole che Giuseppe aveva detto loro, ed egli vide i carri da carico che Giuseppe gli aveva mandato per trasportarlo, allora lo spirito del loro padre Giacobbe si rianimò.
28 and Israel said, 'That is enough! My son Joseph is stil alive. I must go and see him before I die.'	28 Israele disse: "Basta! Giuseppe, il mio figliolo, è vivo. Io voglio andare a vederlo prima di morire!".
