Genesis 45

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Then Joseph could not control his feelings in front of al his retainers, and he exclaimed, 'Let everyoneleave me.' No one therefore was present with him while Joseph made himself known to his brothers,	1 Ya no pudo José contenerse delante de todos los que en pie le asistían y exclamó: «Echad a todo el mundo de mi lado.» Y no quedó nadie con él mientras se daba a conocer José a sus hermanos.
2 but he wept so loudly that al the Egyptians heard, and the news reached Pharaoh's palace.	2 (Y se echó a llorar a gritos, y lo oyeron los egipcios, y lo oyó hasta la casa de Faraón.)
3 Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph. Is my father real y stil alive?' His brothers could not answerhim, they were so dumbfounded at seeing him.	3 José dijo a sus hermanos: «Yo soy José. ¿Vive aún mi padre?» Sus hermanos no podían contestarle, porque se habían quedado atónitos ante él.
4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, 'Come closer to me.' When they had come closer to him he said, 'Iam your brother Joseph whom you sold into Egypt.	4 José dijo a sus hermanos: «Vamos, acercaos a mí.» Se acercaron, y él continuó: «Yo soy vuestro hermano José, a quien vendisteis a los egipcios.
5 But now, do not grieve, do not reproach yourselves for having sold me here, since God sent mebefore you to preserve your lives.	5 Ahora bien, no os pese mal, ni os dé enojo el haberme vendido acá, pues para salvar vidas me envió Dios delante de vosotros.
6 For this is the second year there has been famine in the country, and there are still five years to comewithout ploughing or harvest.	6 Porque con éste van dos años de hambre por la tierra, y aún quedan cinco años en que no habrá arada ni siega.
7 God sent me before you to assure the survival of your race on earth and to save your lives by a greatdeliverance.	7 Dios me ha enviado delante de vosotros para que podáis sobrevivir en la tierra y para salvaros la vida mediante una feliz liberación.
8 So it was not you who sent me here but God, and he has set me up as a father to Pharaoh, as lord ofal his household and governor of the whole of Egypt.	8 O sea, que no fuisteis vosotros los que me enviasteis acá, sino Dios, y él me ha convertido en padre de Faraón, en dueño de toda su casa y amo de todo Egipto.
9 'Return quickly to your father and tel him, "Your son Joseph says this: 'God has made me lord of alEgypt. Come down to me without delay.	9 Subid de prisa a donde mi padre, y decidle: “Así, dice tu hijo José: Dios me ha hecho dueño de todo Egipto; baja a mí sin demora.
10 You wil live in the region of Goshen where you wil be near me, you, your children and yourgrandchildren, your flocks, your cattle and al your possessions.	10 Vivirás en el país de Gosen, y estarás cerca de mí, tú y tus hijos y nietos, tus ovejas y tus vacadas y todo cuanto tienes.
11 There I shal provide for you -- for there are five years of famine stil to come -- so that you, yourhousehold and all yours are not reduced to penury.' "	11 Yo te sustentaré allí, pues todavía faltan cinco años de hambre, no sea que quedéis en la miseria tú y tu casa y todo lo tuyo.”
12 You can see with your own eyes, and my brother Benjamin can see too, that I am who I say I am.	12 Con vuestros propios ojos estáis viendo, y también mi hermano Benjamín con los suyos, que es mi boca la que os habla.
13 Give my father a ful report of al the honour I enjoy in Egypt, and of al you have seen; and quicklybring my father down here.'	13 Notificad, pues, a mi padre toda mi autoridad en Egipto y todo lo que habéis visto, y en seguida bajad a mi padre acá.»
14 Then throwing his arms round the neck of his brother Benjamin he wept; and Benjamin wept on hisshoulder.	14 Y echándose al cuello de su hermano Benjamín, lloró; también Benjamín lloraba sobre el cuello de José.
15 He kissed al his brothers, weeping on each one. Only then were his brothers able to talk to him.	15 Luego besó a todos sus hermanos, llorando sobre ellos; después de lo cual sus hermanos estuvieron conversando con él.
16 News reached Pharaoh's palace that Joseph's brothers had come, and Pharaoh was pleased to hearit, as were his servants.	16 En el palacio de Faraón corrió la voz: «Han venido los hermanos de José.» La cosa cayó bien a Faraón y sus siervos,
17 Pharaoh told Joseph, 'Say to your brothers, "Do this: load your beasts and hurry away to Canaan.	17 y Faraón dijo a José: «Di a tus hermanos: Haced esto: Cargad vuestras acémilas y poneos inmediatamente en Canaán ,
18 Fetch your father and your families, and come back to me. I will give you the best territory in Egypt,where you wil live off the fat of the land."	18 tomad a vuestro padre y vuestras familias, y venid a mí, que yo os daré lo mejor de Egipto, y comeréis lo más pingüe del país.
19 And you, for your part, give them this order: "Do this: take waggons from Egypt, for your little onesand your wives. Get your father and come.	19 Por tu parte, ordénales: Haced esto: Tomad de Egipto carretas para vuestros pequeños y mujeres, y os traéis a vuestro padre.
20 Never mind about your property, for the best of all Egypt will be yours." '	20 Y vosotros mismos no tengáis pena de vuestras cosas, que le mejor de Egipto será para vosotros.»
21 Israel's sons did as they were told. Joseph gave them waggons as Pharaoh had ordered, and hegave them provisions for the journey.	21 Así lo hicieron los hijos de Israel; José les proporcionó carretas por orden de Faraón; y les dio provisiones para el camino.
22 To each and every one he gave new clothes, and to Benjamin three hundred shekels of silver andfive changes of clothes.	22 A todos ellos dio sendas mudas, pero a Benjamín le dio trescientas piezas de plata y cinco mudas.
23 And to his father he sent ten donkeys laden with the best that Egypt offered, and ten she-donkeysladen with grain, bread and food for his father's journey.	23 A su padre le envió asimismo diez burros cargados de lo mejor de Egipto y diez asnas cargadas de trigo, pan y víveres para el viaje de su padre.
24 And so he sent his brothers on their way. His final words to them were, 'And let there be no upsetson the way!'	24 Luego despidió a sus hermanos, y cuando se iban les dijo: «No os excitéis en el camino.»
25 And so they left Egypt. When they reached their father Jacob in Canaan,	25 Subieron, pues, de Egipto y llegaron a Canaán, a donde su padre Jacob,
26 they gave him this report, 'Joseph is stil alive. He is at this moment governor of al Egypt!' But hewas as one stunned, for he did not believe them.	26 y le anunciaron: «Todavía vive José, y es el amo de todo Egipto.» Pero él se quedó impasible, porque no les creía.
27 However, when they told him all Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the waggons thatJoseph had sent to fetch him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived,	27 Entonces le repitieron todas las palabras que José les había dicho, vio las carretas que José había enviado para trasportarle, y revivió el espíritu de su padre Jacob.
28 and Israel said, 'That is enough! My son Joseph is stil alive. I must go and see him before I die.'	28 Y dijo Israel: «¡Esto me basta! Todavía vive mi hijo José: iré y le veré antes de morirme.»
