Genesis 45

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Then Joseph could not control his feelings in front of al his retainers, and he exclaimed, 'Let everyoneleave me.' No one therefore was present with him while Joseph made himself known to his brothers,	1 José ya no podía contener su emoción en presencia de la gente que lo asistía, y exclamó: «Hagan salir de aquí a toda la gente». Así, nadie permaneció con él mientras se daba a conocer a sus hermanos.
2 but he wept so loudly that al the Egyptians heard, and the news reached Pharaoh's palace.	2 Sin embargo, los sollozos eran tan fuertes que los oyeron los egipcios, y la noticia llegó hasta el palacio del Faraón.
3 Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph. Is my father real y stil alive?' His brothers could not answerhim, they were so dumbfounded at seeing him.	3 José dijo a sus hermanos: «Yo soy José. ¿Es verdad que mi padre vive todavía?». Pero ellos no pudieron responderle, porque al verlo se habían quedado pasmados.
4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, 'Come closer to me.' When they had come closer to him he said, 'Iam your brother Joseph whom you sold into Egypt.	4 Entonces José volvió a decir a sus hermanos: «Acérquense un poco más». Y cuando ellos se acercaron, añadió: «Sí, yo soy José, el hermano de ustedes, el mismo que vendieron a los egipcios.
5 But now, do not grieve, do not reproach yourselves for having sold me here, since God sent mebefore you to preserve your lives.	5 Ahora no se aflijan ni sientan remordimiento por haberme vendido. En realidad, ha sido Dios el que me envió aquí delante de ustedes para preservarles la vida.
6 For this is the second year there has been famine in the country, and there are still five years to comewithout ploughing or harvest.	6 Porque ya hace dos años que hay hambre en esta región, y en los próximos cinco años tampoco se recogerán cosechas de los cultivos.
7 God sent me before you to assure the survival of your race on earth and to save your lives by a greatdeliverance.	7 Por eso Dios hizo que yo los precediera para dejarles un resto en la tierra y salvarles la vida, librándolos de una manera extraordinaria.
8 So it was not you who sent me here but God, and he has set me up as a father to Pharaoh, as lord ofal his household and governor of the whole of Egypt.	8 Ha sido Dios, y no ustedes, el que me envió aquí y me constituyó padre del Faraón, señor de todo su palacio y gobernador de Egipto.
9 'Return quickly to your father and tel him, "Your son Joseph says this: 'God has made me lord of alEgypt. Come down to me without delay.	9 Vuelvan cuanto antes a la casa de mi padre y díganle: «Así habla tu hijo José: Dios me ha constituido señor de todo Egipto. Ven ahora mismo a reunirte conmigo.
10 You wil live in the region of Goshen where you wil be near me, you, your children and yourgrandchildren, your flocks, your cattle and al your possessions.	10 Tú vivirás en la región de Gosen, y estarás cerca de mí, junto con tus hijos y tus nietos, tus ovejas y tus vacas, y con todo lo que te pertenece.
11 There I shal provide for you -- for there are five years of famine stil to come -- so that you, yourhousehold and all yours are not reduced to penury.' "	11 Yo proveeré a tu subsistencia, porque el hambre durará todavía cinco años. De esa manera, ni tú ni tu familia ni nada de lo que te pertenece, pasarán necesidad».
12 You can see with your own eyes, and my brother Benjamin can see too, that I am who I say I am.	12 Ustedes son testigos, como lo es también mi hermano Benjamín, de que soy yo mismo el que les dice esto.
13 Give my father a ful report of al the honour I enjoy in Egypt, and of al you have seen; and quicklybring my father down here.'	13 Informen a mi padre del alto cargo que ocupo en Egipto y de todo lo que han visto. Y tráiganlo aquí lo antes posible».
14 Then throwing his arms round the neck of his brother Benjamin he wept; and Benjamin wept on hisshoulder.	14 Luego estrechó entre sus brazos a su hermano Benjamín y se puso a llorar. También Benjamín lloró abrazado a él.
15 He kissed al his brothers, weeping on each one. Only then were his brothers able to talk to him.	15 Después besó a todos sus hermanos y lloró mientras los abrazaba. Sólo entonces, sus hermanos atinaron a hablar con él.
16 News reached Pharaoh's palace that Joseph's brothers had come, and Pharaoh was pleased to hearit, as were his servants.	16 Cuando en el palacio del Faraón se difundió la noticia de que habían llegado los hermanos de José, el Faraón y sus servidores vieron esto con buenos ojos.
17 Pharaoh told Joseph, 'Say to your brothers, "Do this: load your beasts and hurry away to Canaan.	17 El Faraón dijo a José: «Ordena a tus hermanos que carguen sus animales y vayan en seguida a la tierra de Canaán,
18 Fetch your father and your families, and come back to me. I will give you the best territory in Egypt,where you wil live off the fat of the land."	18 para traer aquí a su padre y a sus familias. Yo les daré lo mejor de Egipto, y ustedes vivirán de la fertilidad del suelo.
19 And you, for your part, give them this order: "Do this: take waggons from Egypt, for your little onesand your wives. Get your father and come.	19 Además, ordénales que lleven a Egipto algunos carros para sus niños y sus mujeres, y para trasladar a su padre.
20 Never mind about your property, for the best of all Egypt will be yours." '	20 Diles que no se preocupen por las cosas que dejan, porque lo mejor de todo el territorio de Egipto será para ustedes».
21 Israel's sons did as they were told. Joseph gave them waggons as Pharaoh had ordered, and hegave them provisions for the journey.	21 Así lo hicieron los hijos de Israel. De acuerdo con la orden del Faraón, José les dio unos carros y les entregó provisiones para el camino.
22 To each and every one he gave new clothes, and to Benjamin three hundred shekels of silver andfive changes of clothes.	22 Además, dio a cada uno de ellos un vestido nuevo, y a Benjamín le entregó trescientas monedas de plata y varios vestidos nuevos.
23 And to his father he sent ten donkeys laden with the best that Egypt offered, and ten she-donkeysladen with grain, bread and food for his father's journey.	23 También envió a su padre diez asnos cargados con los mejores productos de Egipto, y diez asnas cargadas de cereales, de pan y de víveres para el viaje.
24 And so he sent his brothers on their way. His final words to them were, 'And let there be no upsetson the way!'	24 Y cuando despidió a sus hermanos antes que partieran, les recomendó: «Vayan tranquilos».
25 And so they left Egypt. When they reached their father Jacob in Canaan,	25 Ellos salieron de Egipto y llegaron a la tierra de Canaán, donde se encontraba su padre Jacob.
26 they gave him this report, 'Joseph is stil alive. He is at this moment governor of al Egypt!' But hewas as one stunned, for he did not believe them.	26 Cuando le anunciaron que José estaba vivo y era el gobernador de todo Egipto, Jacob no se conmovió, porque no les podía creer.
27 However, when they told him all Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the waggons thatJoseph had sent to fetch him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived,	27 Entonces le repitieron todo lo que les había dicho José y, al ver los carros que le había enviado para transportarlo, su espíritu revivió.
28 and Israel said, 'That is enough! My son Joseph is stil alive. I must go and see him before I die.'	28 Israel exclamó: «Ya es suficiente. ¡Mi hijo José vive todavía! Tengo que ir a verlo antes de morir».
