1 Then Joseph could not control his feelings in front of al his retainers, and he exclaimed, 'Let everyoneleave me.' No one therefore was present with him while Joseph made himself known to his brothers,	1 Non poteva più contenersi Giuseppe, molti essendo d'intorno a lui: per la qual cosa ordinò, che tutti si ritirassero, affinché nissuno straniero fosse presente, mentre ad essi si dava a conoscere.
2 but he wept so loudly that al the Egyptians heard, and the news reached Pharaoh's palace.	2 E piangendo alzò la voce: e fu udita dagli Egiziani, e da tutta la casa di Faraone.
3 Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph. Is my father real y stil alive?' His brothers could not answerhim, they were so dumbfounded at seeing him.	3 E disse a' suoi fratelli: Io son Giuseppe: vive tuttora il padre mio? Non poteano dargli risposta i fratelli per l'eccessivo sbigottimento.
4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, 'Come closer to me.' When they had come closer to him he said, 'Iam your brother Joseph whom you sold into Egypt.	4 Ma egli con benignità disse loro: Appressatevi a me. E quando gli furon dappresso: Io sono, disse, Giuseppe vostro fratello, che voi vendeste per l'Egitto.
5 But now, do not grieve, do not reproach yourselves for having sold me here, since God sent mebefore you to preserve your lives.	5 Non temete, e non vi sembri dura cosa l'avermi venduto per questo paese: perocché per vostra salute mandommi Dio innanzi a voi in Egitto.
6 For this is the second year there has been famine in the country, and there are still five years to comewithout ploughing or harvest.	6 Imperocché sono due anni, che la fame ha principiato nel paese: e rimangono ancor cinque anni, ne' quali non si potrà arare, né mietere.
7 God sent me before you to assure the survival of your race on earth and to save your lives by a greatdeliverance.	7 E il Signore mi mandò innanzi, affinché voi siate salvati sulla terra, e possiate aver cibo per conservare la vita.
8 So it was not you who sent me here but God, and he has set me up as a father to Pharaoh, as lord ofal his household and governor of the whole of Egypt.	8 Non per vostro consiglio sono stato mandato qua, ma per volere di Dio, il quale mi ha renduto quasi il padre di Faraone, e padrone di tutta la sua casa, e principe di tutta la terra d'Egitto.
9 'Return quickly to your father and tel him, "Your son Joseph says this: 'God has made me lord of alEgypt. Come down to me without delay.	9 Speditevi, e andate a mio padre, e ditegli: Queste cose ti manda a dire Giuseppe tuo figlio: Dio mi ha fatto signore di tutta la terra d'Egitto: vieni da me; non porre indugio,
10 You wil live in the region of Goshen where you wil be near me, you, your children and yourgrandchildren, your flocks, your cattle and al your possessions.	10 E abiterai nella terra di Gessen, e sarai vicino a me tu, e i tuoi figliuoli, e i figliuoli de' tuoi figliuoli, le tue pecore, e i tuoi armenti, e tutto quello che possiedi.
11 There I shal provide for you -- for there are five years of famine stil to come -- so that you, yourhousehold and all yours are not reduced to penury.' "	11 E ivi ti sostenterò (perocché vi restano tuttora cinque anni di fame), affinché non perisca tu, e la tua casa, e tutto quello che possiedi.
12 You can see with your own eyes, and my brother Benjamin can see too, that I am who I say I am.	12 Ecco che gli occhi vostri, e gli occhi del fratello mio Beniamino veggono, che son io, che di mia bocca vi parlo.
13 Give my father a ful report of al the honour I enjoy in Egypt, and of al you have seen; and quicklybring my father down here.'	13 Raccontate al padre mio tutta la mia gloria, e tutto quello che veduto avete in Egitto: affrettatevi, e conducetelo a me.
14 Then throwing his arms round the neck of his brother Benjamin he wept; and Benjamin wept on hisshoulder.	14 E lasciandosi cader sul collo del suo fratello Beniamino pianse, piangendo ugualmente anche questi sul collo di lui.
15 He kissed al his brothers, weeping on each one. Only then were his brothers able to talk to him.	15 E baciò Giuseppe tutti i suoi fratelli, e pianse ad uno ad uno con essi: dopo di ciò preser fidanza di parlare con lui.
16 News reached Pharaoh's palace that Joseph's brothers had come, and Pharaoh was pleased to hearit, as were his servants.	16 E si sentì dire, e divulgossi di bocca in bocca per la reggia di Faraone: Sono venuti i fratelli di Giuseppe: e Faraone, e tutta la sua famiglia ne provò gran piacere.
17 Pharaoh told Joseph, 'Say to your brothers, "Do this: load your beasts and hurry away to Canaan.	17 E disse a Giuseppe, che comandasse, e dicesse ai suoi fratelli: Caricate i vostri giumenti, e andate nella terra di Chanaan;
18 Fetch your father and your families, and come back to me. I will give you the best territory in Egypt,where you wil live off the fat of the land."	18 E di là prendete il padre vostro, e la sua famiglia, e venite da me: e io vi darò tutti i beni dell'Egitto, e vi nutrirete del midollo della terra.
19 And you, for your part, give them this order: "Do this: take waggons from Egypt, for your little onesand your wives. Get your father and come.	19 Ordina ancora, che prendano carri dalla terra di Egitto per trasportare i piccoli loro figli, e le donne, e dirai loro: Prendete il padre vostro, e affrettatevi, e venite con tutta celerità.
20 Never mind about your property, for the best of all Egypt will be yours." '	20 E non vi date pena di non portare tutti i vostri utensili; perocché tutte le ricchezze dell'Egitto saranno vostre.
21 Israel's sons did as they were told. Joseph gave them waggons as Pharaoh had ordered, and hegave them provisions for the journey.	21 E i figliuoli d'Israele fecero, com'era lor comandato. E Giuseppe diede loro de' carri, conforme avea ordinato Faraone, e i viveri pel viaggio.
22 To each and every one he gave new clothes, and to Benjamin three hundred shekels of silver andfive changes of clothes.	22 E ordinò ancora, che fossero messe fuori due vesti per ognuno di essi: e a Beniamin diede trecento monete d'argento con cinque ottime vesti:
23 And to his father he sent ten donkeys laden with the best that Egypt offered, and ten she-donkeysladen with grain, bread and food for his father's journey.	23 Altrettanto denaro, e altrettante vesti mandò a suo padre colla giunta di dieci asini, che portavano d'ogni sorta delle ricchezze d'Egitto, e altrettante asine cariche di grano e di pane pel viaggio.
24 And so he sent his brothers on their way. His final words to them were, 'And let there be no upsetson the way!'	24 Licenziò adunque i fratelli, e mentre stavano per partire disse: Non sieno dispute tra voi per viaggio.
25 And so they left Egypt. When they reached their father Jacob in Canaan,	25 Quelli partiti dall'Egitto giunsero al padre loro Giacobbe nella terra di Chanaan.
26 they gave him this report, 'Joseph is stil alive. He is at this moment governor of al Egypt!' But hewas as one stunned, for he did not believe them.	26 E gli dieder le nuove, e dissero: Giuseppe il tuo figlio vive, ed egli è padrone in tutta la terra d'Egitto. Udita la qual cosa Giacobbe, quasi da profondo sonno svegliandosi, non prestava però fede ad essi.
27 However, when they told him all Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the waggons thatJoseph had sent to fetch him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived,	27 Ma quelli tutta raccontaron la serie delle cose. E quando ebbe egli veduti i carri, e tutte le cose, che quegli avea mandate, si ravvivò il suo spirito,
28 and Israel said, 'That is enough! My son Joseph is stil alive. I must go and see him before I die.'	28 E disse: A me basta, che sia ancor in vita Giuseppe mio figlio: anderò, e lo vedrò prima di morire.
