Genesis 22

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 It happened some time later that God put Abraham to the test. 'Abraham, Abraham!' he called. 'Here Iam,' he replied.	1 Después de estos acontecimientos, Dios puso a prueba a Abraham: «¡Abraham!», le dijo. El respondió: «Aquí estoy».
2 God said, 'Take your son, your only son, your beloved Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, where youare to offer him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I shal point out to you.'	2 Entonces Dios le siguió diciendo: «Toma a tu hijo único, el que tanto amas, a Isaac; ve a la región de Moria, y ofrécelo en holocausto sobre la montaña que yo te indicaré».
3 Early next morning Abraham saddled his donkey and took with him two of his servants and his sonIsaac. He chopped wood for the burnt offering and started on his journey to the place which God had indicated tohim.	3 A la madrugada del día siguiente, Abraham ensilló su asno, tomó consigo a dos de sus servidores y a su hijo Isaac, y después de cortar la leña para el holocausto, se dirigió hacia el lugar que Dios le había indicado.
4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.	4 Al tercer día, alzando los ojos, divisó el lugar desde lejos,
5 Then Abraham said to his servants, 'Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I are going over there;we shal worship and then come back to you.'	5 y dijo a sus servidores: «Quédense aquí con el asno, mientras yo y el muchacho seguimos adelante. Daremos culto a Dios, y después volveremos a reunirnos con ustedes».
6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering, loaded it on Isaac, and carried in his own hands the fireand the knife. Then the two of them set out together.	6 Abraham recogió la leña para el holocausto y la cargó sobre su hijo Isaac; él, por su parte, tomó en sus manos el fuego y el cuchillo, y siguieron caminando los dos juntos.
7 Isaac spoke to his father Abraham. 'Father?' he said. 'Yes, my son,' he replied. 'Look,' he said, 'hereare the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?'	7 Isaac rompió el silencio y dijo a su padre Abraham: «¡Padre!». El respondió: «Sí, hijo mío». «Tenemos el fuego y la leña, continuó Isaac, pero ¿dónde está el cordero para el holocausto?».
8 Abraham replied, 'My son, God himself wil provide the lamb for the burnt offering.' And the two ofthem went on together.	8 «Dios proveerá el cordero para el holocausto», respondió Abraham. Y siguieron caminando los dos juntos.
9 When they arrived at the place which God had indicated to him, Abraham built an altar there, andarranged the wood. Then he bound his son and put him on the altar on top of the wood.	9 Cuando llegaron al lugar que Dios le había indicado, Abraham erigió un altar, dispuso la leña, ató a su hijo Isaac, y lo puso sobre el altar encima de la leña.
10 Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to kill his son.	10 Luego extendió su mano y tomó el cuchillo para inmolar a su hijo.
11 But the angel of Yahweh cal ed to him from heaven. 'Abraham, Abraham!' he said. 'Here I am,' hereplied.	11 Pero el Angel del Señor lo llamó desde el cielo: «¡Abraham, Abraham!». «Aquí estoy», respondió él.
12 'Do not raise your hand against the boy,' the angel said. 'Do not harm him, for now I know you fearGod. You have not refused me your own beloved son.'	12 Y el Angel le dijo: «No pongas tu mano sobre el muchacho ni le hagas ningún daño. Ahora sé que temes a Dios, porque no me has negado ni siquiera a tu hijo único».
13 Then looking up, Abraham saw a ram caught by its horns in a bush. Abraham took the ram andoffered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.	13 Al levantar la vista, Abraham vio un carnero que tenía los cuernos enredados en una zarza. Entonces fue a tomar el carnero, y lo ofreció en holocausto en lugar de su hijo.
14 Abraham cal ed this place 'Yahweh provides', and hence the saying today: 'On the mountain Yahwehprovides.'	14 Abraham llamó a ese lugar: «El Señor proveerá», y de allí se origina el siguiente dicho: «En la montaña del Señor se proveerá».
15 The angel of Yahweh cal ed Abraham a second time from heaven.	15 Luego el Angel del Señor llamó por segunda vez a Abraham desde el cielo,
16 'I swear by my own self, Yahweh declares, that because you have done this, because you have notrefused me your own beloved son,	16 y le dijo: «Juro por mí mismo –oráculo del Señor–: porque has obrado de esa manera y no me has negado a tu hijo único,
17 I wil shower blessings on you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars of heaven andthe grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants wil gain possession of the gates of their enemies.	17 yo te colmaré de bendiciones y multiplicaré tu descendencia como las estrellas del cielo y como la arena que está a la orilla del mar. Tus descendientes conquistarán las ciudades de sus enemigos,
18 Al nations on earth wil bless themselves by your descendants, because you have obeyed mycommand.'	18 y por tu descendencia se bendecirán todas las naciones de la tierra, ya que has obedecido mi voz».
19 Abraham went back to his servants, and together they set out for Beersheba, and Abraham settled inBeersheba.	19 Abraham regresó a donde estaban sus servidores. Todos juntos se fueron a Berseba, y Abraham residió allí.
20 It happened some time later that Abraham received word that Milcah, too, had now borne sons to hisbrother Nahor:	20 Después de un tiempo, Abraham recibió la noticia de que también Milcá había dado hijos a su hermano Najor:
21 Uz his first-born, Buz his brother, Kemuel father of Aram,	21 Us, su primogénito; Buz, hermano de este; Quemuel, padre de Aram,
22 Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, Bethuel	22 y además Quésed, Jazó, Pildás, Idlaf y Betuel.
23 (and Bethuel was the father of Rebekah). These were the eight children Milcah gave Nahor,Abraham's brother.	23 Este último fue padre de Rebeca. Estos son los ocho hijos que Milcá dio a Najor, el hermano de Abraham.
24 He had a concubine named Reumah, and she too had children: Tebah, Gaham, Tahash andMaacah.	24 Además, Najor tenía una esclava llamada Reumá, que fue madre de Tébaj, Gajam, Tajas y Maacá.
