Genesis 16

NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 Abram's wife Sarai had borne him no child, but she had an Egyptian slave-girl cal ed Hagar.	1 Sarai, Abrams Frau, hatte ihm keine Kinder geboren. Sie hatte aber eine ägyptische Magd namens Hagar.
2 So Sarai said to Abram, 'Listen, now! Since Yahweh has kept me from having children, go to myslave-girl. Perhaps I shal get children through her.' And Abram took Sarai's advice.	2 Sarai sagte zu Abram: Der Herr hat mir Kinder versagt. Geh zu meiner Magd! Vielleicht komme ich durch sie zu einem Sohn. Abram hörte auf sie.
3 Thus, after Abram had lived in the land of Canaan for ten years, Sarai took Hagar her Egyptian slave-girl and gave her to Abram as his wife.	3 Sarai, Abrams Frau, nahm also die Ägypterin Hagar, ihre Magd, - zehn Jahre, nachdem sich Abram in Kanaan niedergelassen hatte - und gab sie ihrem Mann Abram zur Frau.
4 He went to Hagar and she conceived. And once she knew she had conceived, her mistress countedfor nothing in her eyes.	4 Er ging zu Hagar und sie wurde schwanger. Als sie merkte, dass sie schwanger war, verlor die Herrin bei ihr an Achtung.
5 Then Sarai said to Abram, 'This outrage done to me is your fault! It was I who put my slave-girl intoyour arms but, now she knows that she has conceived, I count for nothing in her eyes. Yahweh judge betweenme and you!'	5 Da sagte Sarai zu Abram: Das Unrecht, das ich erfahre, komme auf dich. Ich habe dir meine Magd überlassen. Kaum merkt sie, dass sie schwanger ist, so verliere ich schon an Achtung bei ihr. Der Herr entscheide zwischen mir und dir.
6 'Very wel ,' Abram said to Sarai, 'your slave-girl is at your disposal. Treat her as you think fit.' Saraiaccordingly treated her so badly that she ran away from her.	6 Abram entgegnete Sarai: Hier ist deine Magd; sie ist in deiner Hand. Tu mit ihr, was du willst. Da behandelte Sarai sie so hart, dass ihr Hagar davonlief.
7 The angel of Yahweh found her by a spring in the desert, the spring on the road to Shur.	7 Der Engel des Herrn fand Hagar an einer Quelle in der Wüste, an der Quelle auf dem Weg nach Schur.
8 He said, 'Hagar, slave-girl of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?' 'I amrunning away from my mistress Sarai,' she replied.	8 Er sprach: Hagar, Magd Sarais, woher kommst du und wohin gehst du? Sie antwortete: Ich bin meiner Herrin Sarai davongelaufen.
9 The angel of Yahweh said to her, 'Go back to your mistress and submit to her.'	9 Da sprach der Engel des Herrn zu ihr: Geh zurück zu deiner Herrin und ertrag ihre harte Behandlung!
10 The angel of Yahweh further said to her, 'I shal make your descendants too numerous to becounted.'	10 Der Engel des Herrn sprach zu ihr: Deine Nachkommen will ich so zahlreich machen, dass man sie nicht zählen kann.
11 Then the angel of Yahweh said to her: Now, you have conceived and will bear a son, and you shalname him Ishmael, for Yahweh has heard your cries of distress.	11 Weiter sprach der Engel des Herrn zu ihr: Du bist schwanger, du wirst einen Sohn gebären und ihn Ismael (Gott hört) nennen; denn der Herr hat auf dich gehört in deinem Leid.
12 A wild donkey of a man he wil be, his hand against every man, and every man's hand against him,living his life in defiance of al his kinsmen.	12 Er wird ein Mensch sein wie ein Wildesel. Seine Hand gegen alle, die Hände aller gegen ihn! Allen seinen Brüdern setzt er sich vors Gesicht.
13 Hagar gave a name to Yahweh who had spoken to her, 'You are El Roi,' by which she meant, 'Did Inot go on seeing here, after him who sees me?'	13 Da nannte sie den Herrn, der zu ihr gesprochen hatte: El-Roï (Gott, der nach mir schaut). Sie sagte nämlich: Habe ich hier nicht nach dem geschaut, der nach mir schaut?
14 This is why the well is cal ed the wel of Lahai Roi; it is between Kadesh and Bered.	14 Darum nannte sie den Brunnen Beer-Lahai-Roï (Brunnen des Lebendigen, der nach mir schaut). Er liegt zwischen Kadesch und Bered.
15 Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave his son borne by Hagar the name Ishmael.	15 Hagar gebar dem Abram einen Sohn und Abram nannte den Sohn, den ihm Hagar gebar, Ismael.
16 Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael.	16 Abram war sechsundachtzig Jahre alt, als Hagar ihm Ismael gebar.
